Okay so real talk if we're going to do this we need to do it right.

When it comes to dating yourself there are two schools of thought: Either you would love to date yourself because you love yourself, or the relationship would explode because ultimately you hate yourself.

I have no problems with Adrien falling for Chat Noir, because that is when Adrien is truly free to be himself; that is when he is who he wants to be.

But would Chat Noir want to date Adrien? Adrien is hiding who he is and ashamed of himself. Adrien feels like he is not enough.

Actually Chat Noir would feel for Adrien and want to help draw him out. Alright, I worked myself back on board.

Chapter 1: Our Deal

For once Marinette had managed to beat her alarm. She needed time to make sure she looked perfect. Her foundation was perfectly blended, her eyeliner meticulously applied, and her red lipstick carefully selected. Four dresses fell to the floor until one strapless floral print dress met Marinette’s standards. After making sure her purse had all her essentials, she reached for her cell phone. Her face fell as she saw her latest text. With a slight frown she replied to the text and once again let Adrien cancel. 

‘Twenty-years-old and still hopelessly devoted to Adrien? Geez, Marinette.’

She chuckled seeing her Kwami was already at her side to do whatever damage control was necessary. “It’s fine, Tikki. He can’t help how busy he gets.” Running a hand through her hair, she decided to take this time to relax before starting her day. 

Her kwami hugged her cheek, desperately trying to coax a real smile from her. “You know if he could, he would be with you, Marinette. And it isn’t like you haven’t had to cancel on him before.” 

Tikki was right and the truth was that were too many other things to stress about; Adrien drama would have to take a backseat. Today was the second day of her internship with Gabriel Agreste. She had already made a fool of herself yesterday, and she still couldn’t believe she wasn't fired on the spot. That’s not to say Marinette would have reacted any differently. He wanted to use her earrings for design inspiration, and he asked her to take them off! Part of her wished that she took time to prepare for instances like that, but it couldn’t really be helped.

She prepared to give her Kwami a cookie when she looked outside and saw a familiar Akuma victim knocking at her door. She stepped back, trying to plan her escape to transform when he broke in.

It was Evillustrator, “Marinette! I know things didn’t go well between us before, but I want to try again!��

Marinette raised a brow, “Nathaniel? What are you talking about? We have hardly spoken since graduation. Aren’t you engaged?”

What was going on?! Chloe had been Nathaniel’s muse almost immediately after his first run as the Evillustrator. Wait. Maybe Hawkmoth didn’t know that? Could he perhaps take negative feelings and manipulate them further? These questions would have to wait, Chat Noir burst into the room and this was her chance to get into the fight. 

He smiled his devilish smile at her as he dodged the various sketches that were attacking him. “I hope you didn’t miss me too much, Princess.” 

She desperately fought the urge to roll her eyes, how could he always be this casual in a fight? “I’m better now that you’re here, Kitty. But this looks like an A-B conversation, so I’ll just C myself out.” 

She couldn’t believe that she actually said that awful joke, but he brought the silliness out of her. Truth be told, she could stand to be a bit more Chat-like in her civilian life. But she could think about that later, he needed a partner, not a fangirl. She ran out to the restroom and started her transformation into the Superheroine of Paris, Ladybug!

Using her yo-yo, she swung from the window of her bathroom back into her bedroom. “Evillustrator! What are you doing back?!”

“The question you need to ask is when will you be handing over your Miraculous!” He started drawing on his sketchpad and began summoning large blades that were aiming at the duo. 

Ladybug already knew how to stop him, but it was daytime. How could she black out the room this early? What could they do? Should she really use her Lucky Charm this soon? 

Chat was fighting him, and he was trying to get the sketchpad. She didn't want to risk her suit deactivating before they stopped Nathaniel, but she couldn't think of a plan. 

“Lucky Charm!” She called out ready to find out what she would get this time.

To her surprise, it was a blindfold. “What am I supposed to do with this?” But then the answer hit her and she felt a bit foolish. 

She ran to Chat's aid and kicked away the giant mouse toy, Nathaniel had drawn. She grunted and slipped the blindfold into Chat's hand. “Get this on him! I don't have much time!” 

He nodded and jumped to hang from a chandelier. He only had one shot at this; Ladybug had used her Lucky Charm, so the countdown had already begun. They had been partners for years and he wanted to know who was behind that mask desperately, but he was smart enough to know that either of them being exposed while Hawkmoth was watching would be the death of them.

Nathaniel looked up at Chat Noir, “Oh no you don’t!” He yelled as he began to draw his next attack. Chat took the chance to pounce and get the blindfold on him. 

As the two men struggled, Ladybug used her yo-yo to snatch the sketchbook and rip it. As soon as the akuma was released, and all the damage it did was reversed.

Nathaniel rubbed his head and groaned. “What happened? I was just waking up a moment ago…”

It was time for Ladybug to make her exit, but what did Nathaniel mean? “Are you saying you didn’t have any sort of argument with anyone? Nothing to leave you feeling down?”

Nathaniel shook his head. “No! In fact, I’ve been in a really good place lately! Chloe and I are doing fine. We even moved in together.”

Chat raised a brow, “But Hawkmoth can only claim victims while they’re at a low point. Bugaboo, you have to get out of here! I’ll find Marinette. Nathaniel, I have some questions for you.”

Nathaniel agreed and Ladybug smiled gratefully as she ran away. She barely made it out her front door before transforming. She came back in and tried to make it look like Marinette had been hiding in the bathroom the whole time, but she was cutting it way too close.  

She was shaken from her thoughts by Chat Noir running and hugging her. “I’m glad you’re alright Princess!”

“Of course! I don’t think I could be in too much trouble when you’re always around to keep me safe. But that was kind of fast, no?” Marinette hoped to get a bit of information from him instead of waiting tonight for their patrol.

“Yeah, you caught that, didn’t you? Well, I need to talk to my Lady about that some more, but I picked up her signals. She knows something is fishy too. I think Hawkmoth might have gotten stronger... or something. I don’t want you to worry too much, but I want you to stay on high alert. I’m going to check on you more just to be safe.”

“Is this a service you offer all the citizens you protect and serve, or are you just making an excuse to see me?”

“I’m hoping for the latter, Princess.” He smiled and she just giggled. But wait?! She had work to do!

“Oh no! It’s only my second day and I’m going to be late! Geez, Marinette!” He smiled as he watched her scramble to hurry and rush out the door. Then he went back to her room so that he could help Nathaniel head home. Chat needed to find out more, but he wasn’t sure Nathaniel would be able to give him much information. This fight was way too easy and it wasn’t like Hawkmoth to waste an akuma. 

‘What are you up to, Hawkmoth?’

I feel like we all know this, but it never really hits. Right now, even though I love being at home, I don't like that its not a choice. Sometimes I get scared, but I think in the end it will be alright.
