Well this concert was a good un and in my old age am posting about it a bit later than planned because I crashed out last night recovering from the epicness. @nct127 are probably the best looking group of men I have seen in a long time each member is beyond handsome but to have talent too @smtown I may question some of your business decisions and choices but you sure know how to put an idol group together! Loved the show loved the amazing seats and view and loved the lightstick action but most importantly loved the bonding with the bae @dreamlabemi and of course my boi and fellow hypebeast @kaiholdsthekey who loves a casual pose just like me! Woke up this morning with some intense humidity #curlyhair - they’ll drop out to good old regular frizz in a bit but these are the curls I dream of but they tease me by making an appearance when I don’t need them them stubbornly hiding when I do! Anyway I also realised in the craziness that was the hot Saturday when I finally caught up with the bae @dreamlabemi and had a lovely day, good food, chilling in the park but man did the air con and that cold water and juice feel good after our mini picnic! The journey home however felt like an epic quest through the fires of Mordor with obstacles like tube line closures and signal failures but it didn’t take away from another lovely day with someone I met randomly because of a mutual appreciation of the human art form that is @jj_1986_jj and who’s ended up being someone who I cherish and get to see again next weekend and take a picture with because in our fight with the heat we didn’t take one #selfie together (who am I??)!! Always love catching up with @zeeshri her words of wisdom make me forget that I’m the supposed older and wiser one but she sensed my mood and as they say “it’s good to talk”. The other thing I love about Zeesh is our mutual love of all things boujee we work hard and we know what we like so meeting at the new Brasserie at Selfridges made complete sense and pleased to say it was delicious but maybe eating under the amazing statue by @damienhirst added to the #taste. Oh hi @realericnam welcome to the #LDN and thank you for having excellent taste in footwear (same @vans_korea shoes as me tonight) but also blessing us with your sublime voice (cave me in alone was worth the admission) and ummm 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾 for the fancy footwork too! But that was just a part of a lovely #Saturday with my #girl @humi1107 completely spoiling me to the point of knowing me so well that she contributed to my @chromeheartsofficial collection with this beautiful earring (my first!) which I’ve had my eye on - so generous and I am humbled by her thoughtfulness oh and she feeds me too at the lovely @fredericks_n1 (what a gem of a restaurant) with the final icing on my day having an @uber driver who told me in the space of 14 minutes his whole life story of embarking on marriage number 3, plans for the year, good local cafes and that he will make #dua for me to find a husband (even though I told him I wasn’t really in the market for one right now). All in all a lovely day in my #hometown with my #homegirl who’s friendship with me started with the mother of all sideyes! Like a true #Gemini here are 2 sides to me to commemorate another year on this planet and quite the year it’s been. Why put this picture up? I suppose it sums me up quite nicely on one side the glamorous airbrushed age defying woman who’s confident in her abilities and assured in her views on the other the #nomakeup #nofiltered introverted home body who actually loves dressing in #streetwear that is totally age inappropriate and is frankly tired and getting more and more cynical of the outer world but some elements of her inner world too. I have so much to be grateful for and am #blessed to be part of such a loving family and every year am always touched by all the messages I receive on this day to remind me there are people out there who like me. But I’m always evolving and changing and I think this coming year my word of the year will be “reciprocity” in many aspects of my life. I need to start being a little bit more selfish, a little bit more bolder in saying “No” sometimes and actually not be as available or generous with my time or space. I’m far from perfect and no doubt historically and continuously have disappointed people I have relationships with but maybe this year for my wellbeing I’m going to stop putting myself in positions where ultimately I do feel let down and manage my expectations. I’m going to determinedly look ahead and march to the the beat of my drum and for all of those in my life who want to come along on the journey I’d love to have you come with me but I’m going to stop putting my life on hold or worry so much about others inconvenience at the sacrifice of mine - and I hope those in my life will forgive me and understand why the rest of 2019 and my 43rd year of existence is going to be my selfish year of seeking MY happiness and if past behaviours you’ve expected from me aren’t forthcoming I’d like to say I’m sorry but actually that wouldn’t be so I won’t. Everyone knows I am unashamedly a total #daddysgirl and he sits front and centre in my #heart. I am forever grateful for the unconditional #love he has for me and whilst sometimes his stubbornness and refusal to slow down and change certain lifestyle habits (that pile of salt will forever be on his plate of rice and sprinkled before tasting anything and that is non-negotiable) can be frustrating I am now cherishing every day I have with him and forgive him many things because he’s MY Dad (some other members of my family could look beyond their selfish attitudes and remember that as the patriarch of his clan he should be ultimately respected but that’s on their heads and their loss (yeh I said it in public they don’t realise how angry I am but they broke my dad’s heart earlier this year and I hope they read this and have the humility to apologise) and I will always choose my father and mother first) Family politics aside every day is #fathersday for me as I am constantly enveloped in his love and just the small things he does for me (his tea and his egg and toast will always taste the most delicious to me) have made me realised that every day he has loved me has made me a better person. I was all set to watch Killing Eve tonight and then I see there’s a 2019 Netflix update of one of the seminal series in my life in both literature and tv form. I read the original books in my teens and it confirmed to me that “love is love” and I fell in love with the colourful characters at Barbary Lane. I’m a CIS woman who’s a heterosexual but I will always stand up for anyone who chooses to live and love as they want without prejudice or discrimination. Growing up in the 80s and 90s sometimes that wasn’t the prominent view around me but reading and educating myself definitely helped me ensure my resolve and beliefs that we’re all deserving of loving and living as we choose! After 2 intense days I have lost my voice and am exhausted but can’t sleep, I have that post #concert feeling but this time it’s not the blues but more a #euphoria (see what I did there #Army) that I was alive to witness a genre of music that I’ve been overly invested in over she last 7 (!) years reach a pinnacle I actually never imagined but knew I had to witness on both days. The first day was one that felt hyped and a palpable air of expectation followed by complete unashamed joy at the actual fact that #BTS DID THAT! But today was different, maybe because I knew what was coming I was even more hyped but when they and I and the rest of the crowd realised that this unique moment may be replicated but never felt again that realisation caused us all to feel an emotion and an empathy for these 7 young men who’ve come and conquered the world by loving themselves and teaching those of us who follow them to love ourselves too. And then we all pledged to remain #foreveryoung by singing to these idols of ours at the top of our lungs and we all collectively cried the tears of wonder and joy together because (and I repeat) THEY DID THAT when many thought they never would. #Ramadan and my annual dark circles post but look(!) industrial levels of concealer and setting powder from @jeffreestar (that peach corrector tho!) and the amazing infallible 24 hour freshwear foundation which miraculously doesn’t look like cake face and hides all my sins! Most days during this month I go “au natural” but some days we all need that pick me up and I woke up that 30 minutes earlier today so I could take my time and feel good for one person.....#me! Why the ramble today? (I know it’s nothing new insta is becoming my journal) In this holy month I see it as an opportunity for self reflection, reconnection to my faith but also reaffirming my self belief and convictions of who I am. Love Allah, love your close ones but also love yourself and don’t apologise for making decisions based on self preservation, don’t be afraid to step away from the herd (this took me A LONG time to accept and do) but also cherish those who bring you joy and don’t be afraid to tell them that.
