What do you think a "crown" is?
It's mentioned together with the pods, so it sounds like it could be something that the Lost Masters were going to use.
We know that the plan was for the Lost Masters to defeat the Darkness after giving it a physical form by trapping it in their own bodies. I assume that means that they would have had to destroy their own bodies to destroy the Darkness.
A crown is something you wear...
See where I'm going with this? What if the Crowns are the vessels the MoM prepared for the Lost Masters?
This is one of the few theories I can think of where Demyx technically isn't the MoM, but only technically. lol The similarity is so significant, I would just believe that he's MoM suffering from amnesia. But in the event that he's not, a handpicked vessel with a compatible personality sounds like the next best guess.
We don't know anything about the crowns, though, so this could be completely wrong. I just thought I'd throw it out there as a possibility. One of the things that makes me doubt it is the fact that there would have to be six more of these supposed vessels, and it's impossible to prove they even exist. I guess the MoM could have intended to use characters we already know, but if that's the case, I don't see that panning out. (Only Luxu would be deranged enough to follow this sort of plan, as we've already seen evidenced with his own body-swapping.) In which case, Demyx could be the only one who was used.
Also, I don't expect the Darkness to be destroyed. I think they could all be "rehabilitated" like Vanitas clearly will be.
In any case... I'm always certain that Demyx is involved somewhere in the equation because Agito XIII continues to exist. We love that.

Type 0 runs on cycles as you've mentioned. Do you think that Type Next was a part of those cycles (from what we saw in the Rise From the Ashes cinematic) or something else entirely that Tabata had planned?
I'm really not sure what was going on there. lol
I don't think it was another cycle... We see Ace get resurrected by some sort of fire spirit (?), which is different from how they would usually be resurrected by Arecia.
I saw speculation that it takes place in the future, after Orience was rebuilt by Machina and Rem, so that could be why the setting looks very different. There's also some concept art which included a yellow dragon, the fifth Chinese celestial beast, potentially representing that the four nations had been united.
I'm not sure if/how the mobile game was going to factor into it.
Personally, I like the theory that Class Zero became like "legendary heroes" (perhaps after becoming Agito together with the player) who are summoned throughout history when they're needed.

I mean, in that case, in a meta sorta way, then it could be argued the cycles are endless, in a way. Quite the way to cap off an entry.
Yeah, sort of! lol
The true ending is out there... In one of those millions of cycles...

What's the flaw? If they're stuck in a cycle then Agito had to appear eventually or else the entire concept is a lie.
The problem is that Type-0 ends before that person ever comes. Arecia gives up. She ends the Spiral and stops trying to find Agito.
They created the mobile game because Hajime Tabata was like "Hold on. Agito never showed up. Isn't that kind of messed up? We shouldn't let things end this way." (I'm paraphrasing, but that's basically what he said. lol)
He said that there was supposed to be a single person who would emerge as Agito. In the mobile game, it was going to be one of the players. Each member of Class Zero has a "power." Arecia thought she just needed to gather all of the right ones. She didn't realize that she also needed the player until they appeared anomalously in one of the cycles. The player's power is the Power of Bonds. It seems like becoming Agito would have required the player to forge bonds with every member of Class Zero, uniting their powers together.
There's more to it, of course. The characters continually describe Agito in a way that sounds like the player. And certain members like Jack and King say that they don't think they could ever personally be Agito (because they don't think they're good people, like the player.) So it seems like Agito has to embody a certain selfless, heroic quality.
Tumblr media
The mobile game was advertised with lines like "When this world ends, who can you save?"
Tumblr media
And "Change destiny", indicating that it would be possible to prevent the death of Class Zero. iirc, Tabata said that the true end of the mobile game would overwrite the ending of Type-0.
But then they pulled the plug on the game before it could officially finish. So... No Agito. Ever.

I think you mentioned once that Type 0 runs on cycles? Like reincarnation? What does that mean?
(Major Type-0 spoilers)
The world of Orience is trapped in what's called the Spiral. Each turn around the Spiral is referred to as a "cycle." It's unclear exactly how much of history repeats in each cycle, but from what we see, it usually appears to be the span of time that begins and ends with the war. Mankind is unaware of the Spiral's existence. The only ones who are aware have been in contact with the gods who are the ones controlling it.
Everybody dies when the world ends and they're reborn in the next world. (The Nameless Tome refers to it as transmigration.) They basically stay the same as before, but they lose their memories. However, they sometimes experience deja vu from vague memories of past lives.
The Spiral exists as part of Arecia's plan to turn Class Zero into Agito. She thought their souls would become stronger through repeated reincarnation. (Which IS why they're so inhumanly strong. But it never succeeded in turning them into Agito because her plan had a flaw. But that's a whole other topic. lol)
There are points where they make it sound like time is being turned back, but... It seems a lot more accurate to say that a new world is created where most of the same events occur. That's definitely how the mobile game makes it sound because they frequently refer to what comes after the end of the world as "the next world."
Hope that answers your question~

I think that this is a big translation error. This one line has led people to believe that there's another character named Sora, which isn't exactly being implied by the Japanese text.
What Yozora says is "Why are you calling yourself Sora?"
You could translate it other ways, like "Why are you claiming to be Sora?"
But it's definitely not "Sora's name." That's too unambiguous.
If you've kept up with MoM theories, then you've heard about Type-0, formerly known as Agito XIII. There are many characters in the Type-0 series who endeavor to become the prophesied hero known as Agito. However, there isn't a single character who ever claimed to BE Agito. It would be extremely arrogant to do that, and no one would probably believe them anyway. It would be ridiculous.
So, let's assume that to Yozora, the name "Sora" is like Agito.
If he heard someone claim that they were Sora, he would naturally have to test their strength to verify that they are who they claim to be.
I think that's all there is to it.

More fun MoM facts!
There are many instances of the MoM using tildes in his speech, particularly when he's joking/teasing. I'm disappointed that the localization did nothing to preserve them, since I feel like their frequent use was a hint to his identity. And it's cute.
Whether or not you believe that he has any connection to Jack from Agito XIII - although you should, because he does - it's something they have in common.
From the Final Fantasy Type-0 World Preview book:
The inflection he places on the words at the ends of his sentences with a tilde (~) demonstrates his “nonchalance.” He has incredible mental strength, shown in the way he maintains the same attitude no matter what type of opponent he faces.
They thought this information was important enough to add to the page about the character. It's his thing.
I've translated scenes from KHUX and FF Agito for comparison.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Even more fun facts!
Unless MoM's having a serious moment, he talks like an airheaded teenager, often ending sentences with the addition of し. Demyx does this a lot. It's not an odd thing to do unless it's a habit. There's nothing like this in English, but I guess the closest comparison I can think of would be like when someone has the habit of ending their sentences with the inflection of a question when it isn't necessary. (Like this? You know how it sounds when someone does this?? all the time??)
I found a blog where someone gave their own example:
This word is somewhat informal, and used less (if at all) in polite Japanese (敬語). Also, it doesn’t have a very intellectual image to it. For example, there is a Japanese TV celebrity by the name of Rola (ローラ) who frequently speaks with this expression and draws out the し sound. Although I think it is all an act, her character is very ditzy and seems like she has a two-digit IQ. So when you are using し, make sure to not overly draw out that sound, unless you're a young girl and want to project that sort of image. (:
What I'm saying is, the localization needs to make MoM sound younger and dumber.
Does Jack do this? Sometimes. It would make sense for him to talk like this, but he doesn't do it often. This one is a MoM & Demyx exclusive.

Fun MoM fact!
He says "yoroshiku" ("I'll leave this to you"/"Please take care of it") differently every time he says it and never says it correctly.

So, I have this theory that Xemnas found Demyx on Scala's beach...
Truly expecting Mickey to run into Demyx and then subsequently get bodied when he gets too close to figuring out who he is.
Tumblr media
Wouldn't be the first time something like that's happened.

I feel like I'm starting to get what Luxord's title "Gambler of Fate" is all about.
Brain wasn't the one the MoM had selected to receive the Book of Prophecies. Ava defiantly decided to give it to him because, as Brain put it, "she was betting on the possibility that the future it contained could be rewritten."
He wondered if the Book would change automatically to reflect their actions. So I wonder if that means that he kept messing around (read: time traveling) until he finally saw the last page change. Perhaps the "child of destiny" came from a new page. 👀

If I see MoMyx slander in the tag, I must reply.
I just read one of your other posts about how you're disappointed that the Lost Masters are going to be villains and how you think they would work better as anti-heroes. I have good news for you.
Tumblr media
Behold, your anti-heroes. (Have you seen this before? Hopefully I'm not going to be repeating stuff you've already heard...)
If you don't know who they are... This is half of Class Zero from Final Fantasy Type-0, formerly Agito XIII. They're a group of elite, specially trained cadets. They obey the orders of Arecia Al-Rashia, a mysterious magic scientist who they refer to as "Mother." Arecia is secretly the god of the world of Orience. (Orience means Daybreak.) She starts the war. When the war inevitably ends the world, she restarts the world and keeps the war going hundreds of millions of times. They are her pawns. They never find out that she's responsible for the war they're fighting, and they remain loyal to her forever, never understanding their role in everything even in the end. It seems like Arecia loves them, but she's a god, so her form of love is a bit incomprehensible to humans.
The "MoM" is obviously a play on "Mother." But his personality is clearly that of Jack. Jack hides all of his true feelings behind a fake smile, acting goofy all the time to distract the class from the horrors happening around them. But there are a couple times where he breaks character and says the truth. He loves Class Zero with his whole heart. Even if he believes that war is in mankind's nature and that there's nothing they can do to stop it, he wants to protect them. They're literally more important to him than the world - so his form of love is also a little twisted. I don't think Sora could understand someone who's lost hope in mankind like that.
Tumblr media
Jack and Demyx share the same JP voice actor. They're the same in all the ways that matter - silly, lazy, love music, etc. When you add the difference, you can see how easy it is for Demyx to be the MoM. (Technically, we already know that Demyx isn't JUST a silly little guy because of the whole "Silence, traitor" thing. There's more going on there.)
I'm sure there are multiple ways to interpret this evidence, but I feel pretty confident that it means that Demyx is the MoM one way or another.
Tumblr media
*opens my wallet to show you pictures of my son* Here's Nomura's original drawing of Jack from Agito XIII. You can see the resemblance.
They're ALL good characters. Play Type-0. It's so good. I'm going to do a video with a character analysis for all of them at some point.
Tumblr media
There's also this. It's the only way I know I'm not delulu. lol
I really hope that the Master of Masters isn't an already existing character. He's such an interesting character and I think that if they make him Demyx or Sora it'll kind of ruin him. We already have Luxu and Ventus as characters from the Land of Fairytales, we don't need Sora as well. Not to mention it would ruin Sora's character too! He's the main protagonist, we've seen his journey from start to end, he's a great character. If you turn around and say "now he's one of the main villains" that's really hard to pull off especially for someone as happy go lucky as Sora. Not to mention that the Master of Masters has done so many terrible things, so to make Sora and him the same character would be very out of character for Sora unless done right.
I've been talking a lot about if Sora's the master, so I want to touch on some of the other popular theories too. First off, Demyx. Honestly I think Demyx is a great character on his own, he's lazy, he's annoying, he just wants to sit around and play guitar. And maybe if he is the master it would make sense for why he just doesn't care, since he's just biding his time. But if he was Demyx it would overall be underwhelming because Demyx is just this weird guy with nothing super special about him. I'm putting my bets on Demyx being shown in Missing Link, since we know from a scene in kh3 that he does in fact have the ability to wield a keyblade. To me it's a lot more interesting if Demyx is just some guy.
Another theory I've seen floating around that I personally don't mind is that he's Yozora. The eye color and being in Quadratum is most of the evidence I've heard for it. But also to me it seems that the secret ending of 3 where Sora and Riku are both in Quadratum is happening at the same time, and Yozora and MoM are in very different places at the time so I don't know how accurate that actually is.
Personally I like the idea of MoM being "the light". From a scene in Re:Mind that I don't remember if it was in Dark Road or not, MoM says his name and the screen goes white. And since his goal is to defeat all the darkness, it would make sense that he himself is the light. I think that this would give him interesting interactions with Riku too, since Riku uses both the darkness and the light. It would also be interesting to have a villain using the light for bad, I think that would give many characters doubt about what they believe, since so many of them hate the darkness and what it brings.
Whoever the Master ends up being, I just want him to be entertaining. He's such an interesting character while also being funny as hell, and he's overall just fascinating to theorize about, especially in this current time between 3 and 4, since I doubt we'll see any of him in Missing Link.

Calling all Kairi fans! I have a question.
I started thinking about Ava, and I wondered if it's possible that she is/was inside Kairi's heart. I think it's a decent way to explain why Namine looks the way she does. It would be similar to how Roxas's appearance came from Ventus being in Sora's heart. Namine isn't Ava, of course, but I think that she might look like her.
The question is... Why/how could Ava have ended up in Kairi's heart?
I feel like someone else has probably thought about this already. Pls... I need to know...

Half-expecting Demyx to show up at the very end of Missing Link as a Drifter. Like, there's a time skip to when Xemnas was looking for new members and he just finds a soggy Demyx laying on the beach somewhere. tbh, that does strike me as the first place he would look for ancient wielders. It seems like something the Player would've told Xehanort about.
As we know, their numbers represent the order in which they were recruited. So, Demyx, number IX, was the first new member after the Radiant Garden lab crew + Lea and Isa. He was picked first. The first ancient wielder they found. It's sussy.
Thanks to the end of KHUX, we know that Larxene and Marluxia's powers as Nobodies were determined by their environment. (Larxene woke up in a thunder storm. Marluxia woke up in a bed of flowers.) So, how would Demyx get water powers? Probably from waking up near water, right?
Tumblr media
This is what we know about Drifters so far.
The Player's amnesia was so severe, they couldn't even remember their own name. If Demyx is a Drifter, the implications make me :))
Like... He's an ancient wielder? Who showed up from "another world"? Who doesn't even remember his own name? Haha, okay. 😏
The title of "Melody of Memory" (MoM) associates memories with music. Particularly, with recalling memories. Where Drifters are concerned, you could say that water represents the loss of memories. Demyx uses music to control water. It's a halfway decent metaphor.
At first, I wasn't sure what to think of the whole Drifter thing, but now I can't wait to find out more about them bc I think this could finally be the explanation for how you go from MoM to Demyx. There would still be a lot of questions, like... Did he go through a distortion willingly, knowing what would happen to him? Was it an accident? Wuh happun?
ftr, I don't think Luxord is a Drifter. (Because I still think he's Brain until further notice.)
