As a Japanese fan, one of the things that surprised me when I first came to the English speaking side of SM fandom was that the shipping culture seemed to be VERY different from that of the Japanese fandom. So together with @floraone we explored why this is the case, looked into fandom history and asked around, and found some very interesting facts along the way.

A Sailor Moon fanworks project answering the question “What If Crystal Tokyo had a Met Gala?” The idea is to design a high fashion couture outfit featuring at least one Sailor Moon character based on the theme. Creations can be any type of media, including writing about the fashion or the gala itself.

This year’s theme is Dreams and Eternity celebrating the release of the Eternal Movies. Like the real Met Gala, this theme can be explored as literally or figuratively as you like.

Any and all characters from Sailor Moon canon are welcome, and any and all creators in fandom are welcome! Please use the hash tag #sailor moon met gala and/or tag @crystaltokyometgala when posting so you fanwork can be reblogged onto this tumblr that will serve as an archive for the project.
