"well, the laser vision IS a plus, because it's cool watching her set stuff on fire from 50 yards away. and i like that she can fly and get things off of high shelves for me. but those aren't the ONLY reasons why i like her!"
(also i hope you enjoy retro batdad, because that's where my brain's at right now. i'm delighted that starfire's design is already so incredibly 60s; she fits right in 🌠)

Hi , This is my second post. His story is here
Hongseok Jones was a clone of Martian Manhunter, created by Cadmus as part of a classified experiment to develop the ultimate biological weapon. Unlike other test subjects, he was not merely an asset to be used—he was raised and educated by Dr. Paek Hongseok, a scientist within the organization who saw him not as an experiment, but as a son. Under Dr. Paek’s guidance, Hongseok received extensive knowledge of alien communication and diplomacy, all while being confined in a glass chamber for years.
As time passed, Dr. Paek realized that keeping Hongseok locked away would only hinder his understanding of the world. Believing his creation deserved a chance to experience life, he arranged for Hongseok to be released into human society. There, the young Martian clone struggled to grasp human concepts—particularly their tendency to conceal their true emotions. He found it strange that humans often lied, deceived, and contradicted themselves. The only person he trusted was Dr. Paek, whom he regarded as his only father.
Everything changed when Dr. Paek witnessed the Justice League in action. He began questioning whether keeping Hongseok within Cadmus was truly in his best interest. Knowing that the organization planned to use Hongseok for their own agendas, Dr. Paek made a fateful decision—to help his son escape.
During the escape, Hongseok used his ability to phase through objects, slipping past security and reaching the outside world. However, before he could return for Dr. Paek, the scientist was executed by Cadmus for treason. The loss shattered Hongseok. He couldn’t understand why someone so kind and selfless had to die at the hands of the very people he once served. This moment made him question the nature of justice and morality, planting the first seeds of doubt in his heart.
After fleeing, Hongseok exposed Cadmus' experiments to the Justice League, leading to the organization's shutdown. This act brought him face-to-face with Martian Manhunter, the being from whom he was cloned. While J’onn J’onzz felt a deep connection to Hongseok—seeing him as a long-lost kin—Hongseok rejected the idea outright. He wasn’t a copy, nor was he a son of Martian Manhunter. He was "Hongseok Jones", the child of Dr. Paek Hongseok and no one else.
Recognizing his potential, the Justice League invited Hongseok to join them, yet his role remained confined to the Watchtower, acting as a support member rather than a field hero. Despite his vast abilities, he was rarely given the opportunity to fight alongside other heroes, making him feel like he had simply escaped one prison for another.
Time and again, he requested to be sent on missions, but more often than not, his requests were denied. He knew that J’onn, and perhaps the League as a whole, wanted him to follow in Martian Manhunter’s footsteps. But deep inside, Hongseok knew one thing for certain—he was not Martian Manhunter. He was not someone’s legacy.
And so, his journey as a "runaway hero" began. He started sneaking away from the Watchtower, blending into human society under various disguises. Not just to escape, but to understand. He sought answers—why did criminals choose violence? What made humans so contradictory? Could justice truly exist in such a chaotic world?
Thus, the search for his own path began. Not as a clone, not as a hero—but as Hongseok Jones.
