Gomamon Day is THIS FRIDAY! GET HYPED!!1!

Why a digimon?

I’ve seen a few days for celebrating other digimon (Flamedramon, Renamon), as well as days to celebrate pokemon (such as 7/28 as Popplio Day), and figured it would be nice to celebrate a specific digimon species; not necessarily “Jo’s Gomamon”, although that is the one that most digimon fans are familiar with.

Why Gomamon?

Many years ago, along with Patamon and countless virus types, he was established as one of my favourite digimon. I quickly got tired of the Adventure anime and am mostly familiar with them through the old PS1 games. Over a decade ago I decided to begin collecting digimon merchandise, with a main focus on Gomamon and Patamon. Over the years more recently, they appear to me as a sort of embodiment of positivity and happiness, and have helped me get through a lot of negative or otherwise not-so-great times in my life. So for me personally I think having one day to celebrate them would be great to show others how awesome this underappreciated digimon is!

Why December 9th?

December 9th is the day I got a special Gomamon custom-made plushie of my own; in fact, he’ll be 9 years old this year! His name is Natticus, and you can follow his cohost once he decides which username to use (Natticus or NatticusTheGomamon on cohost) or check out his old tumblr archive @natticusthegomamon​. He was made by magnastorm on DeviantArt and is one of the most popular “Gomamon” art submissions there! The date also correlates to the same month Gomamon was first revealed in the Digimon Pendulum Version 2 (Deep Savers) in December 1998.

How do I celebrate?

You can draw or write about them, take some photos if you have a collection (no matter whether it’s gigantic or just one plushie), make a photo story of your own Gomamon’s adventures, livestream a digimon game (Gomamon is obtainable in Digimon Survive, Cyber Sleuth, Hacker’s Memory and Next Order!) or just reblog some relevant posts~ Make a Gomamon OC (or ask an OC owner to draw theirs!) You’re free to @ or submit posts to this account anytime from now until then, or you can make your own post(s) and tag them with at least one of these hashtags below so I can find them to reblog here!

Any rules?

No negative/hateful posts about anyone or mon; we can all love Gomamon without being mean to other monsters right? While I’d like the day’s celebrations to stay SFW, if you do make other content (NSFW or “SFW fetish” content) please do not directly tag it under #GomamonDay, use something different like #GomamonDayNSFW instead. Late posts are okay, I’ll likely be celebrating at least all weekend long!

Natticus: I can swim, smash ice, endure cold temperatures, dive in deep water and summon fish buddies! :3

Zarrus: We can all do that though, you ain't special. Forget cold weather though, that ain't me.

Natticus: I thought you couldn't dive where ya can't see?

Zarrus: Then I can just evolve and use that, uhh, whatsit. Echos?

Milus: Yes, echolocation is very useful in dark water, it's like seeing, but without your eyes. I've never been able to use it myself, but it's an interesting and useful ability!

Zarrus: Yea, what about you?

Milus: Oh, when I evolve I get oppose-able thumbs. Great for playing playing video games :3

Zarrus: *eye roll* Typical.

5. What’s one thing you like and dislike?

Natticus: Only one of each? In before Zarrus says his favourite thing is himself :b

Zarrus: Would you shut up?! Ugh. Anyways, if you exclude eating, which is always good, a thing I like is surfing! It's sooo much fun, see, this guy knows how to flow~ And something I don't like, well, excluding Red-

Zarrus: I guess it would be de-volving into a baby form. You're pretty useless at everything when you're a weak little splat, ya know?

Milus: I like video games, they're awesome forms of entertainment~ :D I don't like having my tail pulled, so don't do it :<

Natticus: I like watching movies with Fandramon, they're a good low-energy way to pass time together! Bonus if there's snacks to eat too :3 I don't like taking baths, they suck :/

Natticus: Teal!

Zarrus: Mine are green too, but an olivey-green I guess.

Natticus: I have a red mane :3

Zarrus: Mine is orange, bright and awesome!

Milus: Mine's a less bright of an orange compared to yours Zarrus ^^;

8. Have you got any family members?

Natticus: Family? Probably, but I don't know any in particular. I mean, I hatched from a digiegg and  there wasn't anymon around.

Milus: I'm sure there's ways to have your data analyzed to find out, but that may not really be beneficial for anything except knowing your evolutionary potential. I don't personally know any either.

Zarrus: I was buddies with some other aquatic 'mons back in the digital world. We'd beat up bullies and break stuff for fun! :D

Milus: Zarrus that's not a family, that sounds like a gang :/

Zarrus: So, what's the difference?

Milus: "Family" members share derivative data that can be traced back to one or more contributing or related sources, for examp-

Milus: Fandramon has pets; mostly reptiles and an aquatic one. Unsure if "pets by association" really count ^^;

Zarrus: Is that not what we've been doing this whole time...? WHO CAME UP WITH THIS THING?!

Natticus: Well, uhhh, I've got a whole bunch of cool evolutions! See? ~evo line link~ :3

Milus: I just realized, even though Zarrus has the most evolutions between all 3 of us, he doesn't have a non-standard form-

Zarrus: And what the heck is that supposed to mean, are you calling me inferior?! You lookin' for a smackdown? Huh?!

Milus: I'm just saying, I have a Blizzarmon form and Natticus has his Depthmon form. This isn't a fight, it's a civilized discussion about evolutions. What I meant is, not everyone has identical coding even though we have the same rookie forms right now. Calm your tail ;>_>

Natticus: If that's the case then that also means we're not related at all right? Phew, it would be awful to be related to you Zack :b

Milus: Even though we all don't go, I would like to attend one sometime, there seems to be a lot of opportunities to learn new things there *^*

Natticus: What's with all this stuff about kids? There was a question about them in the other meme thing too. They look like little goatmon! But what would you want them?

Zarrus: And what's a "Married"? Where do you find it?

Natticus: Nothing! X3 It would be neat to wear some clothes sometime for a change though...

Zarrus: You're weird. None of us wear anything in this form, since it's not like anything'd fit anyhow.

Zarrus: Shut it Red, I do what I want! It's like swimming, only not.

Natticus: Well when you tip it over and wipe-out then yea, I can see that X3

Milus: Hey 'mons let's not start, thanks! ^^;; My other forms have some clothing or armour and things, but not this one.

Natticus: Just one? Shrimp is my favourite, so that'd be it :3

Milus: Just about anything cooked in tempura batter, so crispy and yummy~

Zarrus: Hmmmm, I like freshly caught fish, I'd have to say my favourite from the human world is Yellowtail Snapper; See how delicious they look?!  ...Ah damn, now I'm hungry -_-;

Milus: I think it means what time of day do you prefer, though I just sleep whenever so I don't really have a preference.

Natticus: I can stay up late better than wake up early I guess.

Zarrus: I dunno if I count as an early type but when it gets dark out usually that’s a sign to get some sleep. So again, because these questions are so dumb I can't answer 'em right :/

26. What class are you? Low class, Middle class, or High class?

Zarrus: So, uh, at rookie level does that make us middle class or? What the hell is this ranking system all about?

Natticus: Maybe you rank up depending on how many evolutions you have...?

Zarrus: I'd beat the both of ya then~

Milus: I think it's a ranking system humans use, but I have no idea what it's for. Not evolving though, at least that much I can say.

Zarrus: Gotta be out in the open ocean, lakes are kinda lame in comparison. Plus, you can't surf waves in a lake!

Natticus: I hate to agree with Zarrus, but yea, I like the ocean more too; lakes can be nice but they can also be muddy and shallow. The underwater plants and weeds don't help when you're swimming either.

Natticus: Virus~ :3

Milus: Vaccine.

Natticus: Well, Zarrus is pretty small and kinda fat32--

Natticus: Because I've lived most of my lifetime as a Gomamon, just to conserve energy for battles and all that, this form has grown to a, uhhh, less baby type shape I guess...? Milus! What are words?

Milus: You’re thinking of “proportional”, or, a form more similar to a fully-grown animal. As opposed to a “juvenile”, adolescent or neonate form. As for me, I suppose as a gomamon I’m sort of a mix of the human world seal and sea lion animals in terms of shape... admittedly more like a seal though ^^;

Soup for Dinner - Attempt 1

Natticus: I’m gonna make some dinner for Fan since she’s been sick. Luckily there’s a can of soup I can make! It’ll be easy~

Hmm, this one doesn’t need the spin cutter, I can just pull it open! Now to put it inside the pot... Darn, I gotta open it all the way, only the soup water came out! No problem, I’ll jus-

...Oh. I didn’t think I’d break it (^ᆺ^); Guess I’m too strong for this weak metal can ( ˇωˇ ) Time to try opening this another way;

With a knife! I’d’ve used my claws but Fan says not to put them in the food :<

There! All in the pot! Now all I gotta do is put the lid on top and turn on the heat of the stove~ This isn’t so bad :3

Okay, just added some crackers *nom* yep they’re still good... and some orange juice! I heard it helps you heal when you’re sick. Hope Fan likes it~ :3

[[I recently finished Digimon Story Cyber Sleuth Complete Edition on Steam after starting it like 5 times across various versions/platforms lol. Here’s my final team! Did take some creative liberties for Natticus, as Leviamon was about the only water/virus mega available. Plesiomon was somehow stronger than MetalSeadramon for Zarrus too. Cassius hasn’t been revealed on the blog yet, and he doesn't have a physical form so no photos irl with the rest of the goma pod. (I’m still working on figuring out his goma +evos designs, don’t even have a ref sheet for him yet. Too broke to afford a plush atm tho...) ]]

[[Posted some scribbles on @DailyGomamon on twitter, figured I’d post ‘em here too. Sorry I just haven’t been “feeling it” lately with digimon so that’s kinda why I left. That and tumblr supposedly died with the lewd stuff getting banned lol]]

Day 1: Alternate Type - Plant

This is just Zasso (my Veggiemon OC) as a Gomamon. I think the silt eyes make him look a little less cute lol. The fuzz around his neck is from his Argomon form, (the eye patterns might’ve been a lil too freaky lookin’ on a goma xD)

Day 2: IRL Gomamon Pose (v2) - Ref photo here

Pretty self explanatory. Sea lions are so long tho so I had to shorten the butt half a little for the gomamon version. Not sure if it’s OK as is, or should have a chin/lower muzzle line/a line above the muzzle (front view goma problems lol)

Day 3: Alternate Universe (Lilo & Stitch) 

Gomamon as an illegal genetic experiment. Inspired by @Konnestra’s (on twitter) alien/mon crossover arts, they’re making some original designs now too, go check ‘em out!

Day 4: Redraw! - original doodle here

 My Asta-Gomamon doodle I originally drew in 2011, now redrawn in 2021! I might’ve improved a little I guess *shrug*
