Featuring a meditative video of her hand-blown glass spheres floating in the Atlantic ocean, documenting them at the whim of the tides, gravity and human intervention—able to break, or be taken by a wave, to generate shadows and reflections. In the gallery these lush, colorful orbs are sequestered in their own buckets, and moved by an internal pump. Fabricated and controlled, Babaeva’s installation speaks to our uncertain times. Site specific sculpture in Queens, NY @lauralappi @nycparks On view thru Sept 2021 . This is Laura Lappi's second site-specific work that explores notions of home, belonging, loneliness and yearning. With this sculpture, Lappi draws attention to immigrant communities and their living conditions in Queens. . Her sculpture, titled “7 x 7 (Hope),” consists of a black wooden house structure built with space between each beam. The public will be able to see through it but will not be able to get inside, the house has no windows or doors. The size of the sculpture is seven feet long, five feet wide, and seven feet high, referring to the size of the small, illegal, basement room. .
