I’ve decided

Instead of hiding away in fear, I’ll try and spread positivity. Through my art, I want to make others to feel free from the shackles that the world has on them. Even if it’s just for a moment, I want people to stop feeling scared and realize their value in the world.

Don’t let hard times keep you locked away in fear. Try to put yourself out there and help others who may have already locked themselves away.

Today marks a year since I started drawing. It has been filled with learning and messing around. There have been many times where I wanted to quit.

The next arc will be filled with even more learning. I want to do more abstract concepts and start telling mini stories, so…

Creative block in any form can be a draining experience. In this time it feels impossible to get anything done. Even if you can, you still might hate the final result. There’s no easy way to move past it. It may leave on its own or it may take relearning old processes.

Sometimes you just need to create something to release that feeling. Even if you know it’s going to be bad. Realizing that it’s going to bring disappointment.

Sometimes it’s the only way to move forward.

This is Annie Defelay, one of the first consistent original characters I imagined. I first got the idea to start playing out my own fantasies in my head around 2019 and she was one of the first things that came up. Annie was the first character I tried to draw (but it was so bad that I won’t let it see the light of day) and I still have that drawing today. When I first started drawing seriously, I was afraid of drawing her again since I was afraid I wouldn’t be able to capture her true essence. Starting today however, I want to start sharing the stories that I’ve created for her. I want to share the stories that define her existence.

Annie has helped me get through the years and I want to continue that vision while sharing it with others.

This drawing shows one of the earliest designs of Annie which doesn’t represent what she looks like now. I made it this way to recreate and honor the first drawing I did with her.

Happy New Year everyone! Hopes to a year filled with wondrous creations from the human heart and mind.
