After two years of feeling like creating was impossible for me to continue, I've finally finished redrawing/rewriting the first chapter of my comic, updating it with the new designs. I'm feeling so much better about the direction of the comic now, please give it a read!

NEED HELP TO FIND A SONG!
Brit music fans here, I have a somewhat futile - but extremely important to me - question for you. If anyone has the answer I need I'll be forever grateful.
I am a huge fan of Blur, and back in my teens I had every album digitally saved on my parent's computer.
I vividly remember a hidden song on The Magic Whip, I'm not even sure it had a title, maybe it was hidden on another song's file. I cannot remember either the melody or the lyrics, but I do remember it was very soft, and that it was one of my favorites, I could spend hours listening to it.
But today, those files have unfortunately been lost. We got a new computer, I moved, got my own PC and stuff... But now I cannot find this song in any of mine or my family's files. I tried looking for it anywhere I could think of, but I cannot find it on the legal versions of the album (mine was not legally acquired *cough*), neither in the rest of Blur's discography. I tried looking online, on internet archive and this sort of stuff, but it is. nowhere. to. be. found. I even start doubting this memory was even real.
Have I been hallucinating the whole time? Or does this song actually exists??? If so, maybe one of you knows it as well and could help me find it? Please reach out to me if this rings any bell!

Can't afford art school?
After seeing post like this 👇
Tumblr media
And this gem 👇
Tumblr media
As well as countless of others from the AI generator community. Just talking about how "inaccessible art" is, I decided why not show how wrong these guys are while also helping anyone who actually wants to learn.
Here is the first one ART TEACHERS! There are plenty online and in places like youtube.
📺Here is my list:
Proko (Free, mostly teaches anatomy and how to draw people. But does have art talks and teaches the basics.)
Marc Brunet (Free but he does have other classes for a cheap price. Use to work for Blizzard and teaches you everything)
Aaron Rutten (free, tips about art, talks about art programs and the best products for digital art)
BoroCG (free, teaches a verity of art mediums from 3D modeling to digital painting. As well as some tips that can be used across styles)
Jesse J. Jones (free, talks about animating)
Jesus Conde (free, teaches digital painting and has classes in Spanish)
Mohammed Agbadi (free, he gives some advice in some videos and talks about art)
Ross Draws (free, he does have other classes for a good price. Mostly teaching character designs and simple backgrounds.)
SamDoesArts (free, gives good advice and critiques)
Drawfee Show (free, they do give some good advice and great inspiration)
The Art of Aaron Blaise ( useful tips for digital art and animation. Was an animator for Disney. Mostly nature art)
Bobby Chiu ( useful tips and interviews with artist who are in the industry or making a living as artist)
Sinix Design (has some tips on drawing people)
Winged canvas (art school for free on a verity of mediums)
Bob Ross (just a good time, learn how to paint, as well as how too relax when doing art. "there are no mistakes only happy accidents", this channel also provides tips from another artist)
Scott Christian Sava (Inspiration and provides tips and advice)
Pikat (art advice and critiques)
Drawbox (a suggested cheap online art school, made of a community of artist)
Skillshare (A cheap learning site that has art classes ranging from traditional to digital. As well as Animation and tutorials on art programs. All under one price, in the USA it's around $34 a month)
Human anatomy for artist (not a video or teacher but the site is full of awesome refs to practice and get better at anatomy)
Second part BOOKS, I have collected some books that have helped me and might help others.
📚Here is my list:
The "how to draw manga" series produced by Graphic-sha. These are for manga artist but they give great advice and information.
"Creating characters with personality" by Tom Bancroft. A great book that can help not just people who draw cartoons but also realistic ones. As it helps you with facial ques and how to make a character interesting.
"Albinus on anatomy" by Robert Beverly Hale and Terence Coyle. Great book to help someone learn basic anatomy.
"Artistic Anatomy" by Dr. Paul Richer and Robert Beverly Hale. A good book if you want to go further in-depth with anatomy.
"Directing the story" by Francis Glebas. A good book if you want to Story board or make comics.
"Animal Anatomy for Artists" by Eliot Goldfinger. A good book for if you want to draw animals or creatures.
"Constructive Anatomy: with almost 500 illustrations" by George B. Bridgman. A great book to help you block out shadows in your figures and see them in a more 3 diamantine way.
"Dynamic Anatomy: Revised and expand" by Burne Hogarth. A book that shows how to block out shapes and easily understand what you are looking out. When it comes to human subjects.
"An Atlas of animal anatomy for artist" by W. Ellenberger and H. Dittrich and H. Baum. This is another good one for people who want to draw animals or creatures.
Etherington Brothers, they make books and have a free blog with art tips.
📝As for Supplies, I recommend starting out cheap, buying Pencils and art paper at dollar tree or 5 below. If you want to go fancy Michaels is always a good place for traditional supplies. They also get in some good sales and discounts. For digital art, I recommend not starting with a screen art drawing tablet as they are usually more expensive.
For the Best art Tablet I recommend either Xp-pen, Bamboo or Huion. Some can range from about 40$ to the thousands.
💻As for art programs here is a list of Free to pay.
Clip Studio paint ( you can choose to pay once or sub and get updates. Galaxy, Windows, macOS, iPad, iPhone, Android, or Chromebook device. )
Procreate ( pay once for $9.99 usd, IPAD & IPHONE ONLY)
Blender (for 3D modules/sculpting, animation and more. Free)
PaintTool SAI (pay but has a 31 day free trail)
Krita (Free)
mypaint (free)
FireAlpaca (free)
Aseprite ($19.99 usd but has a free trail, for pixel art Windows & macOS)
Drawpile (free and for if you want to draw with others)
IbisPaint (free, phone app ONLY)
Medibang (free, IPAD, Android and PC)
NOTE: Some of these can work on almost any computer like Clip and Sai but others will require a bit stronger computer like Blender. Please check their sites for if your computer is compatible.
So do with this information as you will but as you can tell there are ways to learn how to become an artist, without breaking the bank. The only thing that might be stopping YOU from using any of these things, is YOU.
I have made time to learn to draw and many artist have too. Either in-between working two jobs or taking care of your family and a job or regular school and chores. YOU just have to take the time or use some time management, it really doesn't take long to practice for like an hour or less. YOU also don't have to do it every day, just once or three times a week is fine.
Hope this was helpful and have a great day.
"also apologies for any spelling or grammar errors, I have Dyslexia and it makes my brain go XP when it comes to speech or writing"

Aquarium logbook #1
Hi everyone, and fellow marine life enjoyers!
Two weeks ago, I started a one month internship at an aquarium in my area, and it seems that it would be interesting to explain what I am doing there. Marine biology is one of my greatest passion, and here I have the chance to explain what stakes behind those preservation and instruction structures. Seems to me to be an interesting popularization subject!
I wondered how the hell should I present this, because there is no point in making a 200 pages detailed account of my days. So first, as an introduction, it seems relevent to explain concretely how this aquarium is organized.
I still haven't decided how I'm going to organize the rest of my posts. I'll probably do presentations on the other subjects I encounter during my internship, maybe explain the different tasks I'm doing. We'll see! (Also, since I cannot take pictures, these will only be text based)
Side note: I am only talking about one structure here. Other aquariums might work differently, so please, do not take everything I say as accounted for. Stay curious!
Without further ado, let's jump to the interesting part!
How does an aquarium work???
An aquarium is not just limited to the display tanks the public can see. There is a lot of equipment behind the scenes, and these are what really make the establishment run.
First of all, the quarantine: This is a room where the animals we want to keep under observation are placed. There are two main reasons for this: Either because we suspect the animal of carrying a disease, in this case it must be isolated to treat it and prevent it from contaminating others. Or because they are new arrivals, and are therefore placed here to acclimatize before being transferred to other tanks.
Tanks in the quarantine room can be of various sizes, and sometimes devoid of decorations or installations, so we are able to observe the animals and their behavior as best as possible, in order to detect any problems.
Then, we have what is called the “storehouse”. This is simply where the species that are not presented to the public are stored. Where I am, these are mainly fish and corals (I mainly work on the latter during my internship, so you’ll hear about them A LOT).
Tanks in the storehouse have more installations, like decorations, supports, and hideouts. The keepers maintain optimal conditions to ensure the growth of the animals.
Animals can be placed here in order to mate, for reproduction purposes, or for preservation programs: To keep talking about corals, many species are grown in the storehouse tanks in order to supply this aquarium's exhibitions, other aquariums, or conservation programs at a national or international level.
In addition to these two spaces, the backstage area also houses a whole section dedicated to the production of phytoplankton (plant plankton) and zooplankton (animal plankton), necessary to feed all the species that consume them.
To keep talking about feeding, there is also a kitchen dedicated to the preparation of all the other foods consumed by the animals: fishes, plants, shellfish, etc. are cut and prepared in the appropriate quantities. This part also has two rooms serving as a refrigerator and freezer, for storage.
The backstage also has a laboratory, necessary for many tasks, such as analyzing the tanks water, or observing specimens under a microscope or binocular loupe.
There is also a workshop used for all manual work and technical maintenance operations.
Finally, all these areas are gathered together, and connected to the backstage area of the exhibition tanks. Just behind the windows, the keepers can move around the tanks from above, which allows them to observe them, feed the animals, carry out technical maintenance, etc.
Connected to the exhibition tanks, either in immediate proximity, or in dedicated rooms, are all the equipment necessary for the operation of the tanks: Pumps, filters, lighting, piping, etc.
The verifications and maintenance tasks are carried out daily in every part of the aquarium, and adapted to the situations encountered when required. Therefore, it is a very varied job, despite a similar program day to day!
Alright, that's all for this one folks! I do not know when I'll take the time to make my next post, but you can stay tuned if you'd like!

hi, i saw your post about landing a job at your local aquarium and i was wondering if you had any advice for a college "sophomore" (ive been at community college for 2+ years with intent to transfer when im done here) as i apply for internships at california aquariums :)
congrats on the job also!! 🐟
Hi! Unfortunately, I am neither a student in the field nor a US resident so I don't think I'll be much help :') I needed an internship so I could have a professional experience before applying for a professional degree next year. So I've just been shooting my shot for several months in every aquarium I could find until one gave me a positive answer. I'm lucky enough to be very flexible so I could start working anytime, for any period. Unfortunately not everyone can do that.
Good luck on your search, I hope you'll find something you like!! 💪
