Was listening to At 17 by Janis Ian again and now I'm thinking about Chevy, when he's not in the studio for whatever reason, calling Lorne's office phone at odd hours just to talk to him, dirty or otherwise
Omg yes!! But now I cant help thinking about a story where Chevy is regretting leaving the show after season one. And he and Lorne aren’t really talking because of him leaving, which is super difficult for both of them considering they’d always spent so much time together. Chevy is feeling the full weight of his regrets he just really misses Lorne, so he drunkenly calls him in the middle of the night to tell him as much. And this could be pre-relationship or even a break up/make up situation, like it’s just so versatile.

The original screenplay had Johnny Carson being a lot more threatening to Lorne than we see in the movie, AND he brings up Chevy. Imagine Lorne being sort of unfazed until he brings up Chevy and then Carson’s finally got under his skin

Lorne losing his voice would be a worse case scenario. His whole personality is build up around talking, like that is what he's known for. "He puts a lot of faith in conversation" like talking means everything to him. To have that taken away, even if temporarily, would be an insane blow.
Imagine how powerless he’d feel having his ability to speak taken away.
What if everyone realizes what happened and gets cheeky with it like technically Lorne can’t tell them what to do. And it’s just chaos and Lorne is struggling to keep his hold on things.

Someone on the cast locking Lorne in a storage room or a closet and he never got those keys so he can't get out. And it's hooours until Chevy or Dick or someone finds out what happened to him, so they're immediately enraged and forcibly break down the door.

Working on my massive Chevy/Lorne WIP with a new wave of inspiration and motivation, but I have a question regarding the rating.
I would add warnings to the notes ahead of chapters with NSFW scenes, if they’re included. Alternatively, I can post the NSFW bits separately in their own fic but a part of the series.

"I sensed that he was aging a bit - that he wasn't as quick and sharp - but not by much," Don Roy King, who served as SNL's director for 15 seasons before retiring in 2021 at the age of 73, told me. "The fact was I was slipping faster than he was. Eighty years old is old! I know because it's here for me." Others who know Michaels have detected a subtle decline but nothing unusual for a newly minted octogenarian. "With Lorne, you always feel like there's an NBC page hanging upside down in the closet with his blood slowly draining into him," a person who has known Michaels for years said.

do you have a fav satnight ship besides lorne/chevy? so a second fav ig
It might sound cliche, but honestly I’m a fan of almost every ship to be had. Lorne/Chevy just has the most potential in my eyes and is the easiest to come up with ideas for.
But if you’re forcing me to pick, I’d have to choose something like Lorne/Danny or Lorne/Dick, or maybe even a poly relationship with the whole cast. Again, I don’t really have a solid number two, I’m open and down for whatever <3
#ask#thank you so much for the ask!!#I know I’m not as active on this account rn but I promise I’ll be back soon <3

The backstage guys were older, from another time. From the start, Michaels had told NBC that he wanted everyone assigned to the show-lawyers, publicists, graphic design-ers, accountants-to be under thirty, but that demand wasn't practicable when it came to the 8H crew members, many of whom regarded Michaels's people as a bunch of stoners and high-handed amateurs.
According to Doug Hill and Jeff Weingrad's 1986 book, Saturday Night: A Backstage History of Saturday Night Live, some old-timers started referring to the show as "The Children's Television Work-shop." When rehearsals started, crew members were offended by the material; booing could be heard from the wings. Joe Dicso, the stage manager, later said that if crew members told Michaels that something was too difficult to execute, he wouldn't engage. "Lorne was full of exactlys' and 'ahhs' and of courses," Dicso told Hill and Weingrad. ''Ahh' meant he'd made a mistake. There were no apologies."
Michaels's young charges, however, soon came to realize that the old guys knew their way around. "When we saw the crew kick into action, it was a whole different thing," he said. "A crane was flying around the studio, cameras were moving. The 8H crew was the only one in New York that could do that."

Danny goes to Lorne and Rosie’s apartment to pick up Rosie for a double date, but Chevy opens the door because as it turns out Chevy and Lorne are the other couple they’re going out with. Meanwhile, Lorne and Rosie are in their bedroom helping each other pick out outfits and getting all dressed up.

Even growing up Lorne was directing, but he was also performing in musicals and plays as well as teaching improv classes while in college and stuff. But what if something happened to Lorne that made him so adverse to performing on stage?
I’m not sure what it would be, but I’m imagine something so bad that he just struggled having all of the attention on him on stage. Like maybe his mom had finally gone to one of his shows only to tear him down completely after the fact. Or maybe he was attacked after a performance in an alley or something by people who were calling him all these nasty names, and it just made him super self concious.

“I found a sublet on 57th and Seventh, in a building called the Osborne, which had a Chock full o'Nuts right on the corner. I began my day with a cup of coffee, The New York Times, and two sugar doughnuts. They were whole-wheat sugar doughnuts. I had learned about nutrition in California. On my first day at work, I showed up at 30 Rock in bell-bottoms, a Hawaiian shirt, and a green corduroy jacket I had bought the day before on Madison Avenue. Needless to say, I looked good.”

https://vm.tiktok.com/ZMB9espwH/ why do i feel like this would Lorne and Chevy’s kids with John? 😂
It definitely is. It’s almost a perfect mix of Lorne’s ability to talk for hours mixed with Chevy’s bluntness 😅

High school/College AU where Chevy is the male lead in the school musical or play and Lorne is the head of the tech crew and/or assistant director. During one of the performances, or maybe the dress rehearsal or even sooner, they have a major issue because female lead, Jacqueline Carlin perhaps, storms off set. In my head it’s because Chevy broke up with her or turned her down, though he had yet to realize it’s because of his huge crush on Lorne.
They have no understudy for her, so the cast and crew unanimously decide that Lorne has to fill because he's the only one who knows all of the lines (either because he's always filled in when the she happened to be gone or maybe purely because he's that dedicated to the show that he just knows all the lines for all the cues and stuff). And Lorne is freaking out because he isn’t great in front of an audience, which Rosie calls bs on because she’s seen him perform just fine at summer camp. The real reason he’s worried is partially because he has to put on a dress and is a bit embarrassed, but it’s mostly because he’d have to kiss his crush, Chevy.
