Would you all be curious about more hypnosis audio file recommendations in the future?
I already made this post recommending a number of audio files, and you all seemed to enjoy it. I could make more posts in the future with other puppy/regular hypno media that you might like, curated by me.
Thoughts?

its kinda funny thinking about how hypnosis is fairly close structurally to some lost form of magic in some fictional world.
its a thing that does exist, but has been buried in centuries of misinformation, dramatization, and fantasy, and has had its power relegated to a party trick. people think that stuff like stage hypnosis isnt real at all, or just peer pressure, or some concoction of rationalizations to explain it all away.
you almost need to just start exploring it yourself, to experiment and note down and build your intuitive knowledge to become more skilled at the art. things arent easily scientifically pinned down, muddied and made emissive by the inconsistencies of our perception and its damping or amplifying effects.
it's as close to a soft magic as there is still remaining in our world, one that by design resists this ever encroaching idea that everything is boringly knowable and that life is without a beauty that cannot be replicated over and over again in a lab.
hypnosis and its functions are rooted at the very core of our minds, of humans and humanity, and it's cast aside conceptually like a tome in an old library, containing some fascinating secrets of the world.
it's neat is i guess what my point is.

Oh, and obviously...
The Pet Test and The Pet Test 2 by VerityLey (18+)
These are on par with the Jack Drago file. Best puppy ones out there, in my opinion.
do you have any hypnosis audio files youd recommend?
Honestly, the answer is a "maybe".
In my opinion, in my 8 years of listening to files, not even 1% qualify as something I'd consider well made. The vast majority are nsfw, and the vast majority of those just throw any actual hypnosis away for a sake of roleplay. That being said, here are some files that, in my estimation, are at a minimum decent.
And always, read the description of every file before listening, even after reading my descriptions.
There's puppy ones at the bottom, by the way.
First, not an audio file, but an itch.io game.
brainwasher_program by sleepingirl (18+)
This is the most competently made thing I will be showing. Sleepingirl is someone I would consider a good hypnotist skillwise.
There is also test hypnosis game1 and ithinktherefore, also itch.io text hypnosis games/sessions.
Next, to my knowledge, the best file I've personally stumbled on (though it still didn't quite wow me),
Failing to Resist by Jack Drago (18+)
This file is a trance trainer, as in a file meant to use the ideas of resistance and turn that idea against you. It does a passable job, and you might find it quite powerful and helpful if you have some stubborn tendencies as a subject.
Next is another passable trance trainer,
Mind Melt by LilithUnleashed (18+)
This file uses arousal to bring about a specific philosophy of trance, one you might find more conducive to effectiveness: enjoying trance for the sake of trance itself, not just using it as a means to an end. There is no wakener at the end.
Next, a twin pair of files,
The Call of the Void and Hypnotic Acceptance by LilithUnleashed
The Call of the Void is a sort of run of the mill hypnosis file meant to be looped, and designed to condition you to trance and specifically to Lilith to some extent. Hypnotic Acceptance is a conditioning file meant to be played out of trance and doesn't bring you in to it. It's a nice idea that can have some small potential benefits, it's also relaxing.
Lilith, in general, is a competent hypnotist, if not a bit... much... at times. That's more of a taste thing, though. She does a good job, and these files are good.
There is also this conditioning loop file by her which is also nice, as well as this one.
Next is one for the pups,
Collared Obedience by LilithUnleashed (18+)
This one is, at a minimum, a very enjoyable time. It creates a mental collar and links it with actual collars if you wish and have the means. It forms one made out of various concepts relating to obedience. The suggestions didn't stick for me, but I'm a tad stubborn.
Obedience 101 - Welcome to Class! by FlowLikeTea
If you haven't noticed, I like trance training files. It's primarily because they're some of the only ones that aren't trying to just do erotic roleplay with the facile idea of hypnosis and hypnotic aesthetics. It reminds me of the ASMR sphere in that way.
Anyways, this file is just nice. Not much else to mention.
Slow and Gentle Hypnotic Induction by GoddessSoft (NotSoftForWork)
Thank you, Ms. Soft, for making an actually competent SFW hypnosis file. Soft is quite the competent hypnotist, and we'll be showing a few of her files coming up, but this one remains my favorite. It's simply a very well done relaxation file by someone who knows her stuff and has a good understanding of most aspects of audio trances.
Good Puppy Clicker Training by GoddessSoft (18+)
This is a beginner-centric clicker training file by Ms. Soft. It's thorough, long, and pleasurable. If you haven't noticed, I have not recommended files intended to make you finish in any way. I don't like them. They do not work for me. You'll have to ask someone else. That being said, GoddessSoft's page on the link has many different puppy files to listen to. Most deal with that.
Puppydog Fractionation by GoddessSoft (18+)
Another not-specifically-nsfw-focused puppy file from Ms. Soft. If I recall right, the sound balancing might be a little iffy on this one, though. Fair warning.
That's all I remember for now, but I might have more recommendations in the future. I hope you enjoy, and be sure to tell me how you respond to some of them. Enjoy!

Someone in my asks wanted to know what Amnesia Play (aka memory play) is, here is an old post about it. Have fun :3
Some tips for people into memory play with hypnosis:
First off, if you're the subject, MAKE SURE that you trust your hypnotist. This is something you only wanna do with someone that you know would not abuse it. Not everyone is affected enough to where its easy to do such a thing, but that's not a gamble you want to take if you find your hypnotist even slightly iffy.
If you're a hypnotist, be sure to inform your subject of all of this and take things very slowly at first. Make sure that they want to continue before doing more. Part of hypnosis a lot of the time is some aspect of role play, but you need to discuss what each party wants and is okay with beforehand. Install safeties to make sure that if something is happening that the subject doesn't vibe with, that your suggestions can be rejected easily.
That all being said, from what I've found, you cannot make someone forget information they've already taken in. Our brains are quite stubborn in that regard. That being said, there are ways to both limit information coming in and also ways to deal with recalling information.
So, here are some ideas:
Suggest as a trance begins to direct the subjects focus on your words, focusing so much on each new word that it's hard to remember what was said just a bit ago, going right to their subconscious instead of their conscious memory.
Focus on redirecting their memory when attempting to recall something specific. My hypnotist introduced me to this one, where any time you try to recall what happens during trance, the thought redirects to whatever the hypnotist wants. A trigger is the simplest, perhaps something that clears their thoughts like a bubble pop or something similar. In my opinion, it's important that what their thought is directed to is something specific like a visual for it to be effective, instead of something abstract like "you will drop when you try to think."
Another option is to suggest that the subject doesn't want to recall or think about the trance. This is most effective if a lot of your suggestions focus strongly on obedience and devotion. Your subject willingly wanting not to do it can't hurt.
The last option I have seen used well is to suggest that whenever you specifically ask your subject if they can remember something, it suddenly becomes impossible to think about or remember whatever you said. It can be a nice way to demonstrate the power of your suggestion and make it feel more legitimate and possible, which will then make it more effective.
However, the most effective practice, and the thing that will really set you over the top, is combining multiple if not all of these. If you have like 5 traps set in place, even if some fail, each layer has a chance to intercept the recall.
Those are all of my thoughts, there is almost certainly more though. Happy hypnotizing!

It seems like one of the biggest and most common mental hangups I find in almost everyone is a failure to adapt to superseding concepts.
That's to say, sometimes, earlier on in life or in understanding of something, you will be told a simplified version of the truth, often a black and white silhouette of an idea. However, the more you learn, the more you're meant to find the shades, the blurriness, the nuances of everything. It seems like many people don't understand this, or more accurately, are never rewarded for doing this.
The issue seems to be that on a rhetorical level, the most easily transmissible ideas are those black and white statements, the ones that punch the best. Most people don't attempt to engage in concepts on a deeper level out of their own interest, so if all they are surrounded by is surface level statements, their understanding of the world will never advance beyond a surface level.
This is what happens with bigots when they are confronted with actually interacting with the people they choose to hate on a more personal level. To even speak to someone is to treat them in some way as a person, and so, while they almost never budge on anything that doesn't directly affect their life even after these sorts of learning experiences, they are forced to add shade on something they desperately want to be black and white. Obviously, many people's delusions win out even with direct contact, but still.
This also most certainly affects leftist spaces. It feels like there are two different kinds of leftist spaces, ones where the solution to differences is to put up harsh walls and outlines between everything and police those rules strictly, and the other where the solution is to let them intermix and talk it out. It's sadly difficult to simply cast away that first one, the silhouette, when it comes to politics, because even progressive groups need to consolidate together to push on a rhetorical level for cultural acceptance and systematic changes, but the internals cannot reflect this idea, because it simply isn't how anything should work. It's a defensive reaction to difference, drawing lines around yourself so everything makes clear and simple sense.
Absolutism is a philosophy for children, but that doesn't mean it's bad. It just means that we're meant to graduate from that eventually. Allow yourself to see the grey, and you might find that there's a beauty to the shading.

Tip for hypnotists and subjects: use mantras.
They don't even need to be anything specific, because one function has nothing to do with suggestions. For many subjects, having impulsive random thoughts pop up is unavoidable and expected, and there are a number of ways to deal with it.
One is to specifically account for this in the trance and say something along the lines of, "it's natural for this to happen, and as these thoughts pop up, they're immediately snuffed out". Another method, though, is using mantras. The thing that causes this is the mental and literal space between a hypnotist's words and suggestions, and mantras can serve as a space filler.
The one I most often use is quite simple, making someone bark over and over. I suggest that they really want to Bark, and every time they Bark, they really want to do it again, like a snowball rolling down a hill. Not only can this be such a powerful technique that many subjects genuinely can't fight against it, but it serves to easily fill any space where impulsive thoughts might pop up. You can also tie various triggers to it if you really want to.
There is also the secondary function of mantras themselves being some sort of suggestion, but in my opinion, the strength varies. The one I use as a subject sometimes is, "I give you my control." There is something quite potent about speaking that in your mind aloud, despite it being always implied in hypnosis. It's almost like you're actualizing it.
Ultimately though, the best mantra is whatever one feels most right to you. Have fun, everyone.

I've been recently getting fascinated with the idea of gentle confusion hypnotic techniques.
Suggesting that it's hard to tell how deep you are, and giving conflicting information. Saying you're almost awake, that you're so far down, that it doesn't matter at all. Waking you up and using your heightened suggestibility soon after trance to keep giving suggestions, then asking why I can do that if you're supposed to be awake. It doesn't matter how deep you are, what matters is that your mind is mine right now.
Interweaving multiple visuals and triggers, setting one up and then doing another completely, dropping you in the middle of a sentence, then telling you to keep talking as I whisper little suggestions in your ear.
Telling you to try to resist while praising you for obeying, saying that your conscious mind is the one resisting and your subconscious is the one that knows what it wants, and simply making the conscious one disappear for a while.
Expectations can undermine a subject, so if the only reliable thing in a sessionis your voice, that's what they'll come to cling to.

Reblogging one of my first posts, as it's an interesting way to try and better phantom touch.
This is art of @sunny-haven, a very nice and talented hypnotist.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I've been experimenting with hypnosis and my hypnotist is a dragon furry (hence the previous post), and so I've been trying to learn how to visualize better. I'm not much of an artist (this is all in MSPaint), but I've been studying the ref sheet repeatedly then trying to draw each part by memory. Phantom touch (stuff like feeling a hand run through my hair) has seemed to improve, and it does feel easier to quickly cast an image in my mind of them. It's super fun getting to try stuff with someone so talented. Pictures: 1. Paws, front and back 2. Very rudimentary eye bc I'm bad at drawing those 3. Top of head (ear, horns, and hair) 4. Tail!

Do you have any particularly strong opinions on pop culture portrayals of (non-magical) hypnosis?
I think the most stylistically accurate hypnosis I've seen in terms of how it feels might be The Sunken Place from Get Out.
Just in general, I think it was a very good use of hypnosis, though obviously deeply, deeply dramatized. It's strong enough in the universe to be borderline considered magical, but feels rooted in some amount of sense.
It feels like someone actually got hypnotized for the inspiration for that whole scene and idea, and it pays off well symbolically and functionally in the movie.

All prospective hypnotists need to understand the importance of visuals when it comes to trance, even for subjects that cannot visualize.
Visuals, at first blush, seem like a fancy trick, some way to prove the "power" of trance to a subject, but they serve one of the most important purposes. Hypnosis deals with a lot of abstract concepts. You're taking these vague ideas of "awareness" and "focus" and "obedience" and trying to get their attentive mind to act on them and affect them. Good hypnosis means good communication, and like explaining any other abstract or new concept or idea well to someone, the best way to do it is to link it to something they do know.
What visuals do is take an abstract concept and then turns it into a singular thing. Instead of the subject focusing more on you, your words are a magnet that pulls their focus in. Instead of feeling more relaxed, their mind is an ice cube that begins to melt. Instead of telling the subject's thoughts to stop, you store them in a bubble and pop them.
What you're doing is creating a narrative to the trance, much like how a good story draws someone in. Even without the actual ability to visualize, a subject can understand the narrative better than these general abstract ideas. The concept is still turned into a thing, and then that thing is acted upon, changed in some way. You're giving the mind something to hold on to, and once the subject is holding on, you can take them wherever you want.
Good luck, and happy hypnotizing.
