My dear lgbt+ kids,
It's June, so it's time for a little history lesson:
You probably know that June is Pride Month, but do you know why this month was chosen? It’s because of the Stonewall Riots that happened in June in the year 1969, in a bar called Stonewall Inn in New York (USA).
In the 60s, engaging in “gay behavior” in public (like holding hands, kissing or dancing) was illegal. Violent police raids of gay bars were common.
Especially trans women of color were regularly arrested and subjected to police brutality during those raids. Police officers would also sexually harass them by taking them to the bathroom to “verify their sex.”
In the early hours of June 28, 1969, there was one of those (homophobic and transphobic) police raids happening in the bar mentioned above.
According to many accounts, a woman named Stormé DeLarverie was hit by a police officer with a baton after she complained that her handcuffs were too tight. This sparked the crowd to fight back. They threw objects (such as pennies, bottles and stones) at the police, which ultimately led to several nights of rioting.
These riots are the event that paved the way for the modern gay rights movement. Within a few months, at least two organizations and three newspapers to promote LGBT+ rights were founded.
One year later, there was the first “Christopher Street Liberation Day” in New York (named after the street where the riots started). Their official chant was: “Say it loud, gay is proud.”
In the late 1970s, countries like Sweden and Germany celebrated their first “Christopher Street Liberation Day” events — the beginnings of Pride in Europe. Nowadays, there are Pride events all over the world.
Of course, this is just a short and simplified overview. If you want to deepen your knowledge, there are plenty of ways online to learn more about the history of Pride Month!
With all my love,
Your Tumblr Dad

Does anyone else on the aroace spectrum ever feel like
I’m in my twenties and I WANT these big epic romances I see in movies and tv and books and even in my social circles but
I literally feel no attraction to anyone
Like I feel like I’m missing out on this life experience but I can’t help it

HAPPY DEMISEXUAL PRIDE DAY!🖤💜🤍
Cheers to all demisexuals wherever you are! You're valid, you're real, you're normal, you're beautiful in your own way. Don't let anyone say another word about you! You deserve to be loved and to love however and whoever you want.
****DISCLAIMER****
English is not my main language. The text below was helped by AI.
When did I realize I’m demisexual?
One day, I came across an Instagram story from someone I knew through a community. She shared how she discovered she was asexual. She's already married. She explained to her husband how her feelings were platonic. Her husband accepted her and their relationship as it was, and that made her feel safe. Her story really resonated with me.
I’ve always told my friends that I only start liking someone after becoming friends with them first. Most of them thought it was strange. They never needed to feel “friendship” first to be attracted or start a relationship. I didn’t know at the time that what I was experiencing was demisexuality.
I much prefer falling for someone when I already know the scent of their perfume, how their body language changes when they’re happy, sad, or anxious, their habits, their interests—rather than just being drawn by physical appearance or instant chemistry. I need emotional connection above all. That’s how I can tell whether I feel a sexual attraction or not. I quite often had crushes on a few of my besties and people I was really close to.
I once tried “dating like most people do,” but it felt rushed and unnatural. I couldn’t tell if I genuinely liked them or if I was just trying to go with the flow or I obsessed with the outcome. Eventually, I gave up on dating that way. It feels better when a platonic connection comes first.
I remember being deeply in love with someone who used to really close to me. At this time, it was my first time I felt connection and loved his big personality. But he didn’t feel the same way and he chose someone else. Ironically, he confided in me about everything—even issues with his mom—but not with his girlfriend at the time (now his wife). But when I needed emotional support, he wasn’t there. I ended up walking away. It was one of the hardest heartbreaks I’ve had, especially because his perfume was really common back then—I’d randomly smell it everywhere, and it nearly drove me crazy.
I'm still figuring out where I land on the romantic spectrum. Looking back, my admiration and feelings for past crushes weren’t based on their gender at all. I swear, their personalities were all strangely similar, haha😄
My prayer is simple: I hope soon I'll find a healthy and romantic relationship—one that’s not just aligned in chemistry and values, but also in soul and shared interests. And for everyone else who’s still single, I hope you meet your soulmate(s)— who not only makes you feel safe to be yourself, but also loves you unconditionally. And for everyone who's already in a relationship, I hope your love keeps growing stronger and stays full of happiness💕💕💕
I also hope next year, I can celebrate pride month in other country where it's more acceptable and surrounded by my fs and the whole community.
Once again, HAPPY PRIDE MONTH!🏳️‍🌈 Don't forget to wear purple today💜

Yes, Aros can date.
Yes, Aces can fuck
Yes, some aro/aces want to do these things
SOME DONT
Respect ace peoples identities because they’re identities worth respecting not because they can fuck/date or ‘write the best smut’
The whole point is that we also don’t want to be defined by these things we usually don’t do
