So Billy's a minor when he was on Quizboys in The Invisible Hand of Fate right? And being a minor in the entertainment industry means (usually) that there needs to be a parent/guardian on set. So my question is: where was Rose during all of this? (I know the actual answer is that she wasn't an actual character yet but that's no fun) Was Billy emancipated? Was White his guardian? Do you think Rose went searching for her son when he disappeared? Do you think Billy begged White to be able to contact his mom while they were on the run?

Thinking about women in the Venture Bros universe, specifically how they’re treated in the OSI vs the GCI (spoiler alert: it’s way better in the Guild)
Throughout the show we see three prominent women in the OSI: Gathers, Myra, and Amber Gold. They’re all mistreated by the organization in one way or another.
Gathers is forced to detransition to get back in because she knows it’s a boys club and there’s no way they’ll ever let a woman into a position of power.
Tumblr media
Myra has been broken by her job and then the OSI sweeps her under the rug and tries to act like she never existed.
Tumblr media
Amber Gold is almost never seen in the field on her own and is always accompanied by a man (Headshot and Brock).
Tumblr media
On the other hand the women of the GCI have wayyy more agency. There are plenty of female antagonists who work on their own and are in positions of power (Vain Gloria, Mommy Longlegs, Novia). Sheila was originally an antagonist in her own right as Lady Au Pair and later became part of the council and became more important than her husband.
Tumblr media
Hell, even Bobbi says that she basically switched sides because of how badly she was treated in the OSI.
Tumblr media
I definitely don’t think this is just a coincidence. In many of the pieces of media that the Venture Bros takes inspiration from there are very few women, especially spies/soldiers, but there are PLENTY of villains/femme fatales. I think it's so interesting to see how women navigate a world where many of the systems are rigged against them but they still tend to win in some way regardless.

So I was rewatching Twenty Years to Midnight when I noticed Rusty says this:
Tumblr media
So Jonas has been dead for 20 years. Now at this point the boys are already 16, but Myra says that they're actually supposed to be 19 later in I Know Why The Caged Bird Kills
Tumblr media
So if Jonas died 20 years ago and the boys are 19 and it takes 9 months to grow a baby (assuming Rusty didn't change that process), my question is: How quickly after Jonas's death did Rusty conceive the boys? And was part of the reason they were created to fill the hole that Jonas left?

Just finished rewatching red vs blue and after seeing tf2 on the trending page like a week ago I realized there are SO MANY similarities.
Of course there’s the obvious red team vs blue team but there’s also the fact that their wars are complete bullshit and are being used for some bigger purpose (freelancer training and control of Mann co and their Australium cache)
Their “command” is playing both sides (VIC and Miss Pauling)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
It starts out silly and fun but then it turns out that there’s a bigger, more serious plot going on (the director with the freelancers and the administrator with the Mann brothers and Australium)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Hell, even some of the characters line up!
Tucker and Scout- The “womanizer”
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Sarge and Soldier- The gruff old southern guy who will do ANYTHING to be a soldier
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Caboose and Pyro- Silly little guys with childlike wonder who can and WILL cause mass murder

Anyone else notice this?

Also very interesting that this is the song Ed refers to as it’s about the breakdown of a relationship/marriage.

Absolutely insane of Adventure Time to make Tom Kenny play not one but TWO characters that went insane by magic who later turn normal and spend their time making up for the actions of the person they were when they were infected by the magic and have wives that were taken by Golb and are never coming back.

It’s extra rough for Prismo to lose Jake not only because that was his “favorite person” but also because Prismo WAS JAKE at one point

If I had a nickel for every time I watched a show where a character associated with fire became a fugitive who ran a tea shop I would have two nickels.

Which isn’t a lot but it’s weird that it happened twice

Busy thinking about the similarities between Steven and Finn (obviously there are going to be some similarities since both shows aired around the same time and there’s overlap between the crews)
Both grew up going on adventures and received boatloads of trauma from it
Grew into adults not really sure how to handle their trauma so they use other techniques:
Getting super buff and becoming more violent (more so for Steven)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Insisting that everything is fine when it most definitely isn’t
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Fixing everyone around them because they don’t know how to “fix” themselves (also "No prob, Bob" parallel!)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
It's interesting though that Steven spends most of Future trying to move away from his past self (where most of the bad stuff happened) and not “be that little kid anymore”, while Finn’s bad stuff is currently happening in the present and will continue to follow him into the future so he’s actively regressing into his past self where it was still just a boy and his dog.

I just had an absolutely mind opening revelation.
So in episode 2 Finn takes Simon on an adventure to cheer him up (though it definitely feels like it’s just Finn trying to distract himself from everything while also being able to possibly “fix” Simon). We then see Simon walking through the forest blindfolded, figuring that Finn is guiding him but then..
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Finn’s blindfolded too.
IT’S LITERALLY THE BLIND LEADING THE BLIND OUT HERE BOTH LITERALLY AND FIGURATIVELY
