possession horror where the thing possessing the autistic character causes them to behave in a more neurotypical way. autistic possession horror where the thing inside you is easier to communicate with than you are, the thing inside you doesn’t have a flat affect, the thing inside you doesn’t let your body stim, the thing inside you is how you were told to behave and you can only do it when you are no longer you. autistic possession horror where you will never forget that everyone liked it better than you before they found out something was controlling you. autistic possession horror where they know what’s inside you isn’t you and debate whether it would be easier for everyone to leave you like this anyway. you agree. reblog.

I find it very funny when TERFs/radfems see me criticize intersexist rhetoric in trans spaces and automatically think I'm on their side. Only to realize two minutes later that I think we should do away with "biological sex" entirely and stop assigning sexes & genders to infants. And then they make a post about how I'm delusional and a misogynist, as always. Anyway I think more women should have penises and more men should have uteruses and we should completely degrade the meanings of the words "male" and "female" until they are solely reclaimed in the form of self-expression.

Bro the fatigue gets SO MUCH WORSE when I’m with my family.
Fifteen (15) minutes with them had me acting like a sci-fi droid that’s almost out of power. I stayed that way for the 3ish hours we hung out.
I was fine like half an hour after they left.
#I already have chronic fatigue#(as a symptom of god knows what—probably multiple things tbh)#but I could barely function around them#emotional drain goes CRAZYYY

My favorite bit of folk medicine is that we’re supposed to take wormwood for intestinal parasites. It’s actually really effective, which is how wormwood got its name, but the reason it’s effective is that wormwood is literally just poison and it happens to kill the worms slightly faster than it kills you.

I dunno man. I found out today that a subway sandwich is $14 now. A shitty subway footlong sandwich that isn't actually 12 inches long and is occasionally made with expired ingredients and was never a great option to start with. I ate those in high school because I was broke and at the mall a lot.
There are poke bowls in my city from a local place for $16. Super fresh fish and veg, warm rice, more than I can eat in one sitting, for the price of a sandwich and a drink at america's most mid-tier sandwich shop.
Someone in another post said (paraphrased) you used to be able to get something mediocre for cheap, but now the mediocre things cost as much as the nice things so why would you?

Day 29 of my daily horror poster series: Lake Mungo (2008)

lake mungo is such a beautiful, haunting film. theres a rich tapestry of horror films that focus on the female experience, and (at least based on my one viewing of it) id say lake mungo fits in perfectly alongside films like ginger snaps and hereditary.
its such a shame to me that movies like this often just get boiled down to "ooh it scary when bloaty the dead girl jump at camera". i feel like these films have so many more readings than that, and i want to offer up mine for what its worth.
to me, its really important to remember that while this whole movie is documenting the family and their experience, its really alices story, right? its heartbreaking to watch these people gloss over huge moments in their daughters life. it feels to me like each of the family members are sort of stealing their daughters story from her.
the father feels stubborn to me, being unable to understand and come to terms with who his daughter is. the mother has a whole arc about learning to let go and move on and forget about alice. alices brother is over here wearing her clothes and turning her passing into a strange art project. they spend more time talking about the guy that sexually abused her than they did the ramifications that might have on alice herself.
but the thing that really gets me about all of it is that alice is literally right there. they are talking about her, they are speculating on her, they are editing their idea of her into photos where she already fucking exists. alice didnt die in a way that mattered, she didnt find closure, she didnt disappear, she will always be there, and the fact that the familys entire coping mechanism is to just stop seeing her, it hurts.
the fact that the moment alice saw her future happened at a sleep away camp is no small detail to be overlooked to me, ive had many moments like this in similar social settings. this reads as a girl who is struck by the sudden disillusionment of her reality. she realizes that she has no real connections to the people in her life. alice was a ghost long before she stepped foot in that river.
horror media feels unique in its ability to touch my heart, and i dont want discussion of horror to be relegated to shlocky youtube videos. a film like lake mungo deserves more if only because it saw me, personally.
