A single look and Cyno was a goner – but as a teaching assistant, this was certainly *wrong*.

I updated ludus last night, and it's the final chapter -- so this is a fully completed work, and man, I am so glad it's done. Here we go: Stripper! AU Cynonari, where Cyno walks into a club and meets someone who quite literally changes the trajectory of his life. It's 40k of pwp, and now, fully completed. Enjoy!

scars and soulmates
Tighnari was covered in stars.
This wasn’t so much a choice – more so that they were thrust onto him, or into his very skin.
When Tighnari was young, he had to wonder why his soulmate hurt himself so. What kind of person they were - clumsy or violent? Were they hurting voluntarily or against their own will? In this world, where Celestia above chose who would end up together, in some crazy game of matchmaking, soulmates could feel each other’s physical pain and would have stars appear on their body in place of permanent scars and wounds.
The first time Tighnari got a star, it felt like it was being burned into his arm.
He screamed all night, crying as his parents comforted him.
The next morning, a merry ring of translucent stars shimmered around the width of his left arm.
It would be the first of many.
Over the years, he grew used to it. Tighnari learned to live with the pain. Of course, he was certainly curious, but he never went out of his way to seek out this so-called fated pair. If anything, the fox found a sense of frustration building in him. Amongst his class, he was the only one littered in tiny, iridescent clusters.
When Tighnari met Cyno, however, all that anger dissipated.
It clicked then, just what all of this meant.
Everyone knew the General Mahamatra – his name was a staple in the Akademiya. He sought only justice and knew nothing of mercy once you had committed a single wrong, no matter how small.
Not many people were closely acquainted with him; he was elusive and lonesome.
Tighnari wouldn’t call them friends quite yet, considering how the other had chased him down from one end of Sumeru to the other, waiting for him to make a mistake. To slip up and admit his grand, evil scheme. Not that he had one.
Then, when the chase was over, Tighnari instead got acquainted with Cyno. Cyno wore all his scars for the world to see, unashamed of all the sacrifices he’s made and all the constellations he had forced onto his soulmate.
Perhaps, it was silly, or that Tighnari just wasn’t looking hard enough, but he never noticed that Cyno’s tattoo bore the same placement as the galaxy he wore around his bicep.
What really gave it away was one day at Pardis Dhyai.
It was especially hot and humid, and Tighnari had just finished a lecture to some of his junior students about faunal conservation in the forest. Cyno had arrived as agreed, hair tied up in a look that was uncommon for the Matra.
It caught his eye then, a cluster of stars on the back of Cyno’s neck - it was the same as the scar he had from falling off a tree, the branches scraping through skin and ripping out a portion of his hair. He needed stitches and had his neck bandaged for weeks to come.
Without thinking too much, Tighnari reached out, tracing the stars along Cyno’s skin and feeling them shift and glitter under his own fingertips, as if the stars themselves were responding to Tighnari’s call.
The rest felt more of a blur. Tighnari still remembered the nights that came after, comparing each scar to a cluster of stars – repeating history to each other and having their stories line up.
Even before then, Tighnari had known that he had loved Cyno like no other. To have it all click into place so perfectly, Tighnari knew better than to doubt Celestia’s plans just yet.
Nowadays, Cyno liked to joke that Tighnari was the night sky. Though, on some nights, when Cyno’s lips cast its worship against every twinkling freckle on Tighnari’s skin, the Forest Watcher could believe it. When their fingers traced along each other’s skin, and each star would shine just a little brighter - it felt like the universe had found its place within their skin, an endless canvas for thousands of solar systems to live in.
Cyno’s lips ghost along Tighnari’s skin, tracing the constellations of their history.
Tighnari’s hand raising upwards to bury themselves into Cyno’s hair, breathing a whisper of his name, something so fond and adoring that he swears for a moment that he knows no other words outside of his lover’s name.
Tighnari was covered in stars, but Cyno wore all of Tighnari’s world on his skin.
