I actually do feel like the "unemployed friend on a Tuesday" meme actually helps de-stigmatize unemployment because it frequently affirms that when you don't have a job you're more likely to be getting up to some weird shit rather than just lazing around. But I also feel like the unemployed friend is frequently up to some random shit because there's a whole pile of miscellaneous life tasks that full-time employment keeps people from. The unemployed friend is helping their cousin move, or babysitting, or checking in with a neighbor with mobility issues. The unemployed friend is a walking thesis on the inflexibility of our current labor landscape and just how much work exists outside of work.

"empowering women by sending katy perry to space for 2 minutes" shut the fuck up. samantha cristoforetti was the first female commander of the international space station and she became an astronaut because of star trek. and there is a real chance she is a kirk/spock shipper

"what's with the scarf" fuck man do I need a reason to wear a faggy little scarf now? you could just say "nice scarf man". what's with your attitude

A Long AF vent post I doubt anyone will read.
So, since I've moved into an apartment I have found it a lot easier to keep things at least somewhat tidy or to clean every day/couple days. While its not perfect by any means (don't look in my closet) its way better than how I was with my previous living spaces. I am not sure why exactly but I have a few theories.
-The space feels more manageable. The two spaces I have lived before were houses, and while I was never really responsible for cleaning the whole thing, I still had some chores or messes I'd make and it would be daunting for me to clean it.
-Its MY space (that I share with my bf) where as my previous spaces where with my mom or my ex bf's parents. Ultimately I never felt any ownership over the space which I think contributed to my mental blocks over cleaning.
-No one else lives here. Its just my bf, our cat, and myself. This means I get to move about freely without having to interact with parents. I'm rather awkward so being alone or mostly alone makes it easier for me to just do things.
-My partner helps on a more regular basis. He works full time while I'm only part-time so I don't mind taking on most of household chores. But he still helps, will clean up after himself, and does certain chores I just don't want to. While I am no saint when it comes to making a mess, my ex would let a literal mountain of soda cans pile on his gaming desk to the point of having no space to set anything. Its a big desk too.
-No one to yell at me for not cleaning. Getting screamed at about not cleaning or maybe letting things go for too long and not pulling my weight made me not want to clean even more. Here it's not a big deal if things sit a bit or forget something. It can get done the next day.
-This is specific to living with my ex but that was a house with four people. (him, both his parents and myself) Which meant dishes and trash of four people. Things got messy fast and was more work to clean. Especially when It felt like half the contributors barely did anything (of course my ex and his dad, the men in the house).
-Having space for my things! Again this is more about my ex's place than my mom's. When I moved in there it was meant to be temporary. But we were there for 4 years. So I never really had storage space for my things, both what I packed when I moved and what I accumulated over the years. My crafting supplies would be scattered everywhere because I never had a place to store it. Not an issue here!
All of this is sort of just a long way of saying that leaving my ex and my mom's place has done wonders for me mentally and my ability to get shit done. Again, I'm not perfect and I doubt I'll ever be, but I am better.
