Yeah, it deserves more episodes. At this point it’s been so long I’m afraid it’s been cancelled or something, but who knows! Maybe more will come soon.

How to write a morally gray character:
Have their ideals be right but their methods be wrong
Make it seem like their dastardly methods are really the only way to achieve the goal for the “greater good.”
Have them develop from a flat antagonist to a well-rounded protagonist
How to not write a morally gray character
wah my childhood was hard

Omni-span 50: people are staring
Aaaalirght, let’s go!!! Btw, this is an AU where Ricardo moved to Charter City sometime in middle school.
“People are staring.”
“My name is Nathan Park,” the boy said, looking at his own face in the mirror, seeing the way his brows lowered a bit as he said that, his nervousness fading away from his face for once in his life.
“My name is Nathan Park,” he repeated, more confidently this time.
Alright, he could do this. It was just school. Nothing was that different … well, okay, that was a complete lie. But he was going to be fine.
“My name–”
“Honey!” his mother called from the kitchen, “come on, you’re going to be late! Your sister’s already eaten all the corn flakes!”
“U-uh, coming!” Nathan called back, his gaze on the mirror for a moment more before he turned away to grab his bag and make his way to the kitchen.
Nathan grabbed a granola bar from the pantry, too nervous to eat a big breakfast. What if everyone hated him? What if he was bullied? They were all going to stare at him, he just knew it. Jake would be there for him … and he knew Ricardo would, too … but for how long? What if they couldn’t handle hanging out with someone who was mocked every day? Someone who everyone was surely going to hate?
“Nathan,” his mother’s clear voice pulled him out of his thoughts as she placed a hand on his shoulder, “you’re going to have a great day, okay? Call me if you need to come home, but I know you can do this. And don’t worry, I’ve emailed your teachers and principal, and they’ve said they can change the yearbook to–”
“MOOOM! HE STOLE MY HAIRBANDS AGAIN!” Isabelle yelled, interrupting his mother.
His mom gave him a small, warm smile before her expression turned to her mom-stare. “Now, Jason, give that back to her right now. You’re all going to be late for school!”
Maybe things would be okay … if not, he was at least glad to have his family’s support.
When Nathan arrived at school, he tightened his grip on his backpack, holding it close to his chest as he looked around to try and spot Jake. He smoothed his hair out a bit, not used to the short length, as he finally noticed Jake waving to him from the foyer. Seeing his friend relaxed him a bit, and he made his way over to him.
“Wow, Nathan, you look awesome!” Jake grinned, giving his friend a side-hug.
“Thanks,” Nathan smiled shyly. “Where is Ricardo?”
“Oh, he’s coming,” Jake smirked.
Just then, Ricardo ran up to them, holding a teddy bear and shoving it in Nathan’s arms. “Hey dude! Aw, you look hot!”
“W-I do?” Nathan sputtered.
“Hell yeah! I’m so proud of you, dude!” Ricardo grinned, “hence the teddy bear.”
“Uh … thanks,” Nathan gave a small smile before he frowned, looking down, “but … people are staring. I-I knew they would, it just … “
“Hey,” Ricardo said, gently lifting Nathan’s chin. “You look at me, okay? Just focus on me and Jake, and nobody else. They don’t matter. And if they give you a hard time about this, I’ll make them sorry they ever set foot in this school.”
Nathan bit his lip at that, blushing slightly at what his friend had said. He was glad they were there for him … he shouldn’t have doubted they would be. Still, that was anxiety for you.
“Okay, now let’s get to our lockers so we aren’t late for Botany?” Jake suggested, gesturing towards the lockers with a small smile.
“Okay,” Nathan nodded, following his friends towards the lockers.
As they neared his locker, Nathan swore his heart stopped. Because there, on his locker, was a large poster, covered in flowers and smiley faces and crudely drawn unicorns, and on it said “WE’RE SO PROUD OF YOU, NATHAN!” with a pink, white, and blue striped flag below it.
And that … that was enough to make him cry.
He wiped the tears away quickly, but not before Ricardo and Jake had noticed.
“Dude? What’s wrong?” Ricardo asked worriedly, his grin quickly replaced by a frown.
“N-nothing, I just … “ Nathan smiled, “it says Nathan on it.”
Ricardo and Jake gave each other a look, and then Jake smiled, “yeah, it does. Because that’s your name.”
Nathan was grinning now, pulling his friends in for a hug.
“My name is Nathan Park,” he said through his smile, and Ricardo nodded.
“Your name is Nathan Park. And you’re the manliest guy I know.”
(If y’all couldn’t tell, this was a trans!Nathan fic with some SLIGHT omni-span … hope that was okay for the prompt!)

a one-sho of "close the door" omni-span, and "how much did you hear?" Riya and Jake, if it's not too much to ask, please?
Alright anon, this was really fun to write! Lots of Riya prompts lately haha. I hope I understood you correctly by combining the prompts into one since this was the same ask and all, but if I didn’t please don’t hesitate to request one of them again!
Also, this is pure misunderstanding to fluff, so … yeah haha. Too many of my one-shots are angsty lol
“Close the door.”
“How much did you hear?”
Riya had a huge problem.
What was that huge problem, you may ask?
She had a crush, a flow-blown crush, on Jake Armstrong.
Now, Riya had never really like anyone before. She’d never had the time, and for a while, she’d thought she just wasn’t that type of person. In her opinion, love would find her later on (if it even did) and she wasn’t going to go chasing after it.
But now … now she had a crush. She’d ignored it at first, but after a little bit of prodding from Ricardo and Nathan (who she suspected might be a couple themselves, but that was a story for another day) and a lot of pressure put on herself by not doing anything anytime she saw his cute smile and really kissable face, she decided she was going to ask him out.
But the problem was, she had no idea how to do that.
So that was why she was here, at Ricardo’s place, getting dating advice at 8 o’clock at night.
“Okay, so you’ll go up to him, and you’ll say, ‘hey Jake, you’re super hot! Want to go on a date with me?’ and then he’ll say, ‘oh yeah, Riya, you’re also super hot, let’s kiss or whatever,’ and then, boom! Date accomplished!” Ricardo grinned, raising his voice to do (very inaccurate) impressions of them each as he explained his plan.
“That’s stupid,” Riya rolled her eyes from the couch. “He’ll never go out with me if I say that.”
“Fine, fine, don’t say that exactly,” Ricardo raised his hands in mock surrender, “but … I dunno, say that but with more … “
“Purpose? Pizazz? Actual thought?”
“Yeah!” Ricardo chuckled. “Listen, if it’s really freaking you out, you can practice on me.”
“Practice?” Riya raised a brow, very much regretting asking him for help.
“Yeah! Just stand up,” he offered her a hand, which she hesitantly took, and helped her up. “And pretend I’m Jake. Say what you would say to him.”
“Fine … “ Riya sighed, closing her eyes for a moment. When she opened them, she gave Ricardo a shy smile, “hey … so … I wanted to tell you something.”
“What is it?”
“I … I think I have feelings for you. I have for a while, actually,” Riya said, thinking that this might actually help. “I really enjoy when we spend time together, and … I think you’re really handsome. Would you … like to go out on a date with me?”
“Wow, I didn’t know you felt that way!” Ricardo exclaimed theatrically. “Yes! Of course, I’ll go on a date with you!”
Riya was just opening her mouth to respond when she heard a clattering to her left. Her head spun to look towards Ricardo’s door, where Jake and Nathan stood in the hallway, mouths wide open and a tray of chips and dip fallen to the floor.
S h i t.
“Jake!” Riya exclaimed, stumbling towards the two boys as Ricardo gave a small screech that might have been Nathan’s name. “I didn’t know you were coming over!”
“You … “Jake frowned, looking angry. “You asked out Ricardo?!”
“N-no!” Riya shook her head quickly. “No, how much did you hear?”
“And you said yes?!” Nathan yelled at Ricardo, face red as a tomato.
“No! No, this is a misunderstanding!” Ricardo said quickly, fear evident in his voice. “Close the door, we can explain.”
“Oh, I think I’ve seen enough to know what’s going on here,” Nathan sneered, crossing his arms. “To think we were about to surprise you with a movie night! I can’t believe this!”
“No, no, listen!” Ricardo said, reaching out to grab Nathan’s hand. Nathan took a step back from him, looking away in disgust. “Listen, we were just … “ he paused, looking to Riya. It seemed he didn’t want to give away her feelings, though there was no other way now. So much for her plan to ask out Jake.
“Coming up with an excuse?” Jake scoffed.
“No, Jake, Nathan, please listen,” Riya approached them, rubbing her temples. “We were just … we were practicing.”
“Practicing?” Nathan repeated. “What the heck is that supposed to mean?”
“I … “ Riya sighed, “I wanted to ask Jake out, and Ricardo was helping me practice because I’m not really good at this … “ she admitted, looking down with a small blush. She looked back up, giving Nathan a small smile, “I really didn’t mean to make you think I was trying to get with your boyfriend.”
“My–” Nathan blushed, looking at Ricardo, “you told her?!”
“No! She’s just smart! Don’t kill me!” Ricardo covered his face with his hands.
“Wait wait wait wait,” Jake said, seeming to come out of shock, “you were practicing to ask me out?”
“ … yes?” Riya admitted with an embarrassed half smile. “I really wish it would have gone better than this, though. Um … “ Riya shifted her weight, “you wouldn’t happen to want to say yes, would you?”
“What do you think?!” Jake said, a smile forming. “Of course!” he grabbed her hand, and she instantly relaxed. “I’ve been crushing on you forever!”
“He counted the days,” Nathan said with a chuckle before he grabbed Ricardo’s hands and squeezed them. “Sorry for doubting you, Ricardo.”
“It’s okay,” Ricardo kissed his cheek. “Man,” he grinned, “I’m so glad I can do that in public now! Does everyone see my boyfriend?” he wrapped his arm around Nathan, “because he’s super cute and he’s mine.”
Riya gave a small giggle before Jake hesitantly wrapped an arm around her, and she melted into the touch. “Have you seen my girlfriend?” Jake smirked, “because she’s super cute and she’s mine.”
“Girlfriend, huh?” Riya teased, “we haven’t even been on a date yet.”
“O-oh, I, um, I’m sorry, I didn’t–”
Riya cut him off with a kiss, smiling once she broke away. “It’s okay, I like the title.”
“So … movie night?” Ricardo chuckled, and everyone chuckled along with him, various sounds of agreement thrown his way.
The group headed to the couch, sitting down and watching whatever movie was playing on the current channel with smiles and a light atmosphere that Riya very much preferred to the tension before. This wasn’t how she’d expected any of this to go, but she liked it nonetheless.
Besides, she’d gotten a boyfriend out of it all. And though she’d never been concerned with love before, she was happy to start finding out what it was all about now.

“I’m only here to establish an alibi.” w/ Riya and someone else maybe?
As you wish! It’ll be fun writing Riya. Hopefully, I can do her justice!
“I’m only here to establish an alibi.”
Riya wasn’t one to get attached.
The only thing she’d ever gotten attached to (besides her mother) was a cat named Mr. Finkle she’d gotten when she was seven. She’d loved that cat more than anything, and she took great care of him. That was . . . until one day he got hit by a car and she never got to see him again.
That had taught Riya that she couldn’t get attached to people (or cats). If she did, all that came out of it was heartbreak. Loss. Tears. Emotions were a luxury she didn’t have, especially now. Being the daughter of an “outlaw” wasn’t very easy, to say the least, and helping out three other “outlaws” that she’d previously been fighting? Way beyond “not easy”.
So why the heck did she agree to sneak into this gala just to help steal a gem for her mother’s project to help them?
Riya walked into the gala with wide eyes, a bit intimidated by how … big it was, though she wouldn’t be telling anyone that. The gala was being held by Jonathan Rooke (that evil son of a gun) to celebrate 20 years of his company existing, and he’d made a partnership with a jewelry company to show off their most expensive and polished gemstones. One of those gemstones, a quartz of some kind that Riya couldn’t remember the name of, was the target of the mission. She and her mother had set up an elaborate distraction and plan in which Riya would change into her Blindstrike suit and take the gemstone before anyone had a chance to recover.
But first … she had to pretend to be a guest at the gala. Luckily enough, Jake’s father was invited, and he’d provided an extra invitation for his son to take anyone he wanted.
Speak of the devil, Riya thought as she saw Jake nervously coming towards her, giving a small smile as he approached.
“Hey, Riya!” he started, standing a foot or two away from her. He seemed nervous . . . had he been informed of the mission? “I’m so glad you could make it. I-I was kind of nervous that you’d say no, but … “ he blushed a bit, reaching into his pocket and producing a rose corsage and offering it to her.
Oh. That’s why he was nervous. He … he thought this was a date.
Riya bit her lip, wondering how she could put this delicately, then she remembered she didn’t have time for this. “Listen, Jake … “ she took the corsage, slipping it onto her wrist before looking into his eyes. “I’m only here to establish an alibi.”
“O-oh … “ Jake’s smile faltered, the small amount of happiness he’d seemed to have inside shattering before her. “A, uh, a mission for Dr. D?”
“Yeah … “ Riya shifted her weight, rubbing her arm. She kinda felt bad … she really should have realized this earlier, though. Of course Jake thought it was a date! He’d asked her to a freaking gala, and she hadn’t told him anything about the mission! “But, uh, you know … “ she coughed, trying to give him a comforting smile, “we can still dance and stuff. For the cover.”
“For the cover … “ Jake repeated quietly, then gave what Riya was sure was a fake smile, “yeah, okay. That’s fine. Sorry for the misunderstanding.”
“No, it’s my fault,” Riya said, unsure why she was suddenly feeling so bad about this. These things happened … and it’s not like Jake hadn’t asked her to a dance before. Although, he hadn’t really shown up last time …
“Well, either way, I’d love to help out by dancing with you,” Jake said, the fake smile a constant on his face. He held out his hand shyly, and after a moment, Riya took it.
Jake pulled her in and let his arm hold her waist, his other hand holding hers up next to them. He led her in a small circle along to the beat of the music, swaying and moving like she’d never seen him do before. At first, they were a bit stiff, and Riya didn’t really know what she was doing, but after they got their rhythm, Jake seemed to relax and let loose, and the dancing became as smooth and beautiful as Riya had seen in the movies. Dancing with Jake was actually … really fun. In fact, she could do this all night, and she might even want to do it again.
Jake gave Riya a shy smile as they danced, and Riya let herself move a little closer to him, her hand on his shoulder as they spun around freely. She felt her cheeks heat up a bit, though she wasn’t quite sure why. It seemed this dance was either making her hot or … or she had a crush.
Riya wasn’t sure if she’d ever had a crush before. But Jake … was actually really sweet when he wasn’t missing the dance, and he was … kinda cute. (Not that she’d ever tell him that.) Riya almost forgot the cover until she caught sight of the large ornate clock on the wall, realizing that it was almost time for the distraction. She bit her lip, not really wanting this to end. But she had to … the mission was more important than this.
“Jake … I have to go,” she whispered, her voice low because of the secrecy of the mission along with the fact that they were so close.
“Blinkstrike time?” Jake whispered back, and Riya just nodded.
“I’ll be missing the rest of the party after this,” Riya said, though they were still dancing. “I … had a good time. Best cover I’ve ever had, actually,” she admitted, though she was unsure as to why.
“R-really?” Jake blinked, his cheeks dusted a light pink. “You had a good time?”
“Duh, that’s what I just said,” Riya repeated with a bit of sass, though she had a feeling Jake knew she was mostly being playful. “It was fun. Thanks for the invite,” she smiled, before biting her lip once again. Before Jake could respond, she leaned forward, pressing her lips to his cheek for just a second before she broke away, only their hands still clasped together. “For the cover,” she winked, then she let go, disappearing into the crowd to find a good hiding place to change.
Maybe getting attached wasn’t always so bad, after all.
