Hot take: It is harmful to say you "hate men". Let me explain.

It's perfectly understandable to feel uncomfortable or unsafe around men as an afab or visibly queer person. I myself still feel nervous around men sometimes.

But it is not okay to hate an entire group of people for something they can't control, not even under the guise of "feminism". That is not what feminism is about. It's not about putting down men and lifting up women, it's about trying to free everyone from patriarchal systems that hurt everyone.

Hating and shunning men will only push them to find acceptance elsewhere, and that usually ends up being the "manosphere", which is toxic and extremely misogynistic and will only make their mental health worse.

Mary took a breath. She had one shot at this, if she failed, she would die.

She made eye contact with Akutagawa from across the battle field. she’d never met him, but she could only hope he’d know she’s on his side.

He had fyodors attention, good, that gave her a window of opportunity.

Mary lounges forward, stabbing Fyodor with a poisoned knife. Death would be quick, she’d have to be quicker.

Mary understood Fyodors ability, and she understood what risk she putting herself in. But she had a plan.

The way to win against Fyodor Dostoyevsky was to change the definition of death, something Mary happened to be able to do, she could play his game.

In the moments between death and life, Mary active her ability.

“Victors life,” She mumbled. Fyodors eyes gained a yellow shine to them. He turned towards the young girl. It had worked! He wasn’t dead, but he wasn’t alive either.

Mary jumped back, knowing the living corpse would attack her. Such is how her ability worked

When Fyodor attacked, Mary was prepared. What she wasn’t Prepared for was Akutagawa attacking Fyodor.

“He won’t attack you!” Mary yelled out.

“Well, he’s been attacking all day!” Akutagawa responded.

“He’s dead! He’s dead and under my ability, he’ll only attack me,” Mary spoke.

Akutagawa paused before speaking. “Then now my job is to protect you.”

The following hours were long for everyone involved. Mary was exhausted, holding her ability was getting more and more painful by the minute, but letting go would result in her death.

Mary was beginning to think this was a mistake. Maybe Edgar was wrong, maybe Francis lied to her. Maybe they weren’t coming up with solutions. Maybe she would die today, and die for nothing.

Just as she lost all hope, just as she accepted her death, she saw Edgar! Her mentor! And a strange man in a brown cap and glasses.

The strange men knelt next to her. “You’ve done enough, kid, me and Ed have this handled.”

With that, Mary Shelly passed out.

“Mary? Mary, are you awake?”

She blinked her eyes open, she was in a hospital, when did that happen?

She looked for the source of the voice. She saw Edgar, and the strange man.

“Ed!! What happened? Who’s this?” Mary asked, before coughing.

“Easy, you shouldn’t strain yourself. We handled it, fyodors gone, you helped a ton. And this, this is Ranpo Edogawa, I’m sure I’ve mentioned him to you,” Edgar Allan Poe explained to his apprentice.

“Oh! The candy detective!” Mary recognized the name, Edgar had mentioned him to her many many times before. She couldn’t pronounce his name when she first heard about him 5 years ago, so she called him the candy detective.

Ranpo blinked, and laughed. “The candy detective? Fitting name for me!”

There was a knock at the door, Francis entered.

“Old sport.” He addressed Mary simply, nodding to her. Which was a great deal of respect from the guild’s leader.

He handed Mary a water bottle and hospital pudding cup, he’d thought to pick them up on his way up to her room.

Mary thanked Francis and ate her pudding. It was vanilla.

She watched the adults talking, occasionally someone came and went. She was to exhausted to add to the conversation herself, but she appreciated that they weren’t excluding her by not having it in front of her.

No one told her happened after she passed out during the battle, only telling her it was dealt with. She’d have to talk to Edgar later, maybe he’d give her answers in private.

For now, the war was over, and she had pudding. She was happy.

Hot take: Naomi being implied to be a minor does not excuse the fact that she sexually harasses and assaults Jun'Ichiro. He tells her "no" in various ways and she ignores it.

Also, Jun'Ichiro isn't even shown to reciprocate her advances at all. The only actions he takes in regards to Naomi is when he's protecting her.
