Every time I see "um actually executive orders take time to implement" I want to shake you and actually point you at the literal communications and actions happening IMMEDIATELY in the federal workforce. Which is what these orders are targeting.

The Dept of Ed already put people on paid leave and took down 200 web pages and cancelled 2.6 mil in grant money. The National Institute of Health, which is the biggest federal funder of biomedical research in the country/world, just cancelled its grant review process because those grants and the reviewers were all trained to include diversity support statements. This is happening to the NSF. NASA already started putting employees who do DEI on paid leave and encouraged other employees to snitch on people. The CDC is not allowed to communicate with the public.

This is happening now. Who the fuck cares of it gets challenged in court? It's *happening now.* Reversing it in court in several months (if we're so lucky, which I am NOT confident in, actually) does not necessarily give people back their jobs (or put them in a position to accept them if they are legally forced to get a chance to return to them) and does not undo hostility in the workforce that this has sown and does not give out grant money that was withheld.

And it's not just DEI. it's Accessibility too. It's happening *now.* Policies are getting reversed, and people are going to lose their jobs. Period.

No one is looking at the news and actually reading it. Everyone is just biting their nails at the headlines and letting people falsely comfort them that they don't need to worry or do anything yet.

I keep seeing people responding to the executive order Trump signed defining biological sex as being fixed at conception, and everyone's making the same joke that it means all Americans are women now because all embryos develop as female at first (hence male nipples).

However, since the order declared biological sex to be based on what gametes (sex cells i.e. sperm or egg) one produces, then that obviously means that no one has a biological sex since no one produces gametes at conception. Congrats Trump! Everyone's non-binary now.

ALSO as of right now you can still change your gender marker to X on passports. In fact you can change it to anything without any documentation. It's $130 to get a passport book and there is a $35 execution fee that you pay the acceptance facility who takes your application.

The FACT that they are writing off his EGREGIOUS behavior as autism not only is an insult to autistic people, but it's dangerous for us. Muskrat has an enormous platform, he is wildly visible. If people associate him with Autism, they associate his ungodly lack of morality and obsession with purity with autism, that means autistic people are incapable of thinking for themselves, autistic people are incapable of understanding morality, autistic people lack the insight to understand the affect of their actions. It's infantilizing and dehumanizing. People already want to take away the rights of autistic people because they think we are incapable of being autonomous. There are already a plethora of misconceptions about autism and this is going to set us back decades in the eyes of the people. So, let me be clear, he knows exactly what he's doing. He's a fascist. He's a Nazi, and he wants us to know. Do NOT try to excuse or "explain" his deplorable beliefs with autism.

As we see a barrage of evil executive orders come in, they are not immediately enforceable and will takes months or years to implement.

That’s still not great, but don’t let these pile up to the point of hopelessness. Take a breath, and look community leaders who will fight it every step of the way.

You do not have to force yourself to witness horrors as an act of activism. It is not a form of activism. You can put your phone down, you can block that horrific video. We cannot win if you cannot fight and you will not be able to fight if you are hopeless.

Do not let them guilt you into this. People who are exhausted are easier to walk over. Take care of yourself, find community where you find joy.
