I know she'll change the world

Okay, this one!
Anakin knows Obi-Wan probably better than anyone else and he claims that Obi-Wan, who somehow already survived Anakin as his padawan, wouldn’t be able to deal with her!
… does this mean she is even more reckless than Anakin? Does it mean that if Obi-Wan got her as his padawan, he would have to pass her to someone else for his sanity or risk to get so many heartattacks that one day his body would just give up?

Just before Christmas, Queen Katherine adjourned with her ladies to her lying-in chamber at Richmond Palace to await the birth of her child. She took her formal farewell  of her chamberlain and other male retainers. Katherine then retired inside and wouldn’t be seen again until her child had been born. Men were not admitted to the Queen’s presence during the last weeks of her pregnancy; even the King stayed away. Her chamberlain, Lord Mountjoy, arranged for the duties of all male officers within her household to be taken over by her ladies and gentlewomen, who became, for a few weeks, ‘butlers, servers and pages’, receiving all ‘needful things’ at the door to the Queen’s apartments.
Tumblr media
The chamber was darkened and hung with tapestries depicting images of romance. There were no representations of gloomy or scary images that might frighten the mother or the child. Fresh air was not considered necessary, indeed it was thought to be dangerous, but one window was left uncovered to admit light to the chamber. The rich tester bed in which the royal infant was to be born was truly magnificent. It was made up with sheets of fine lawn, a counterpane of scarlet velvet edged with ermine and a border of cloth of gold, with curtains and hangings of crimson satin embroidered with crowns of gold and the Queen’s coat of arms. Four silver damask cushions were provided for the royal head to rest upon.

In the early hours of New Year’s Day 1511, Queen Katherine was delivered of a prince, to the great jubilation of the King and the court. So Henry and Katherine had their heir. A royal salute was fired from the cannon ranged along Tower Wharf, all the church bells pealed out in celebration, Te Deums were sung by the clergy, and there were triumphant processions through London. In order for his subjects to share in his joy at the birth of his son and heir, Henry ordered that bonfires be lit in the streets of London and that the Lord Mayor arrange for the citizens to be served with free wine to drink the Prince’s health. The midwife received a large cash reward.

Exhausted but exultant, Katherine lay back watching as her ladies cared for her son. They tenderly washed him in warm water, gently rubbing his navel with a powder made from aloes and frankincense, wrapped him in swaddling clothes, and then lowered him into his wonderful cradle. Once Katherine felt well enough, other attendants raised her head and gave her a light nourishing drink or perhaps some thin broth to help her recover after her ordeal. They did not change her clothing or soiled bedding yet; that would wait until she felt able to sit up.
The royal infant must have looked very tiny indeed in his vast painted wooden cradle, which measured approximately five feet by two feet and was trimmed with silver gilt and had buckles either side to secure his swaddling bands. He lay there, wrapped up tight, under a cover-cloth fringed with gold and a scarlet counterpoint furred with ermine. Yet when he was displayed to important visitors, he was placed in an even bigger cradle of estate, upholstered in crimson and decorated with gold fringing, with his father’s coat of arms above his head.

The Queen moved to a bed of estate set up in her presence chamber, where, wrapped in a round mantle of crimson velvet trimmed with ermine, she would receive guests and well-wishers. She would also write a letter to her Lord Chamberlain and, perhaps other officers and nobles, formally announcing the birth. Custom required the new mother remain in the lying-in chamber for forty days. Only after forty days would she leave her apartments to go to church where the prayers of the priest would solemnly rid her of the uncleanliness that childbirth entailed, after which she could return to normal activities. Queens did not breastfeed; a wet nurse was engaged for that, leaving the royal mother free to conceive another heir for the dynasty.

This is your home, my son Here the river brought you And it’s here the river meant To be your home Now you know the truth, love Now forget and be content When the gods send you a blessing You don’t ask why it was sent… (lyrics from “All I ever wanted - “Prince of Egypt” cartoon) “Finding of Moses” - performance in Cairo Pharaoh’ Village Theme Park. [2012] I wanted to visit The Pharaoh Village since I first saw it on TV when I was still a teen. “Pharaoh Village” is amazing entertainment place in Cairo, very much family friendly. A lot of locals come there to spend a free day, among with tourists. In the Pharaoh’ Village, modern egyptians (actors) perform small scenes showing the life of ancient egyptians. Some of them show traditional crafts, farming, making art, papyrus, sculpture etc. You just watch their performances from the distance, like this actual scene showing “Finding of Moses” (photo taken from a boat). Sometimes you can interact with actors. In Pharaoh Village, there are also reconstructed houses of rich man and poor man; small, but lovely reconstructed temple where you can enter and listen about religious traditions and customs; also there are MANY small museums, including lovely replica of Tutankhamun’s tomb, and museum of president Nasser, and museum of Mummification, and museum of Islamic art. This is very friendly and lovely place.
And while looking at these egyptian people making their performance about “Finding of Moses”, I did not close my eyes. Because this story, legend and truth simultaneously, is a part of all-humanity historical and cultural heritage. This story is reflected in art. In music. In poetry. Interpreted by modern and ancient authors. There were theories trying to equal Moses with Aekhnaten (because of monotheism), or other historical figures. There are many works of fiction where authors show their view of the story first recorded in the Bible.
This is not my *holy* story, may be, but this is a story that belongs to all humanity, culture and art.
Why should we close our eyes? :)

180 years ago on a Sunday Birth of Duchess Elisabeth Amalie Eugenie in Bavaria on Christmas Eve.
In honor of this, one of my favourite verses of her: “Zu toll wird endlich mir der Spaß, Und nichts mehr soll mich hindern, Ich drehe eine lange Nas Und zeig allen den Hintern.” [basically ‘I’m done with everything, kiss my ass’]
