A lot of the special effects in Merlin are wonky but I gotta hand it to the visual design of the Glowing Eyes Of Magic. It’s a really neat aesthetic choice because it’s a genuinely cool looking effect that can also be interpreted in multiple ways. It’s JUST the irises that glow. Not the pupils or the whites of the eyes. If it was the whole eye it might look kind of angelic or ethereal, or, probably, just too noticeable to be practical when one needs to Keep The Magic Secret. As it is with just the irises glowing it’s a subtle effect that’s genuinely quite pretty (as fandom loves to point out with its “eyes glowing with starlight” prose) but it’s also, and I can’t emphasize this enough, also pretty damn creepy.

Is there a fic out there where Merlin and Arthur switch bodies (and therefore Arthur gets Merlin’s magic (no I’m not going to care about whether the magic is tied to the soul or not)) AND they’re separated so Merlin can’t immediately explain what’s happening and help Arthur out with his new uncontrollable magic powers? Basically I want to see Arthur flailing and scared of this magic he can’t control on top of being in Merlin’s body and all that that means and having to deal with it by himself. I’m asking because if it doesn’t already exist I want to write it.

I don’t think I’m trans. I’m not dysphoric about my body at all. Slightly socially dysphoric about a few things. Probably gender non-conforming.

But, like, I feel like I’m perfect for HRT. Like, I’m such a failure as a woman I’m halfway there already lol. I’m six foot, I have broad shoulders, a small chest. I have a squarish jaw. I have a visible Adam’s apple, very visible when I swallow. The only things slightly feminine about me are my hips. I already get misgendered by strangers. If I started on T I’d probably start passing 100% in a month lol.

Idk, knowing I’d be perfect for something isn’t a reason to do it but at the same time it’s weird to think that yeah if I started doing this it’d probably work pretty well.

FUCK OFF LEASH DOGS.

My dad was attacked and bitten in the leg by an off leash dog while we were taking a walk in our neighborhood a few months ago. It took weeks and weeks to heal. Guess what happened tonight? ANOTHER (different) off leash dog, barking and snapping at our heels as we were just taking a fucking walk. Thank god it was small so we could have kicked it if it actually started to attack. The owners took fucking forever to get it under control. The dog clearly had zero recall training. And my heart was flipping out remembering the last time my dad got bit. What the fuck is wrong with people. Leash your fucking dogs! Taking a fucking stroll in the neighborhood shouldn’t be so fucking hazardous.

Thinking about carrying pepper spray just to take a fucking walk in our neighborhood smdh.

If you had given me a bullet point list of things that happened in this season I would have said “Wow! Sounds great!” I’m very pleased with where things ended up. But wow were there some major misses in the middle.

Like I don’t know, giving your main couple and your female lead some actual screentime.

Well, that was a rollercoaster.

All I’m going to say about S5 of Lucifer is that if you need a reason to believe writers when they say they need adequate space, time, and support to tell a good story, here’s your perfect example. Plotting and arcs just don’t happen out of nowhere, and this season...at its core, the ideas are so good. They are exactly where I wanted the series and character to go, but, man, are there some really big misses in that middle section that are very obviously influenced by Netflix jerking them around on episode count. Sigh. I’ll post more explicit thoughts about it after I rewatch it.
