Kevin Riley is the funniest Star Trek character because he’s only shown up twice and both times he did the most unhinged thing possible in the situation (committed mutiny and attempted an extrajudicial revenge murder).

Hmm I'm going to bat for Kirk as a protagonist and leading man- this fantasy that he is like the golden boy chauvinistic jock guy- NO!!!! He is a Cheerleader!!!!!!
He does not exist for all the crew to lavish attention upon him the whole time- his purpose is to Uplift every other crew member! To make them the best version of themselves!!! This is his goal.
He is Fascinated by every new facet the universe has to show him. He has a team of people with eccentricities and he is matching up where they best fit. They're all glass cannons that he is aiming carefully and enthusiastically rather than let them go to waste.
When he encounters weirdness his first reaction isn't fear, it's always Oh wow!!!!! How can I match this energy of weirdness!!!!
He is a people person, and he's hovering around and getting way too into their personal lives and getting Inappropriately invested in every storyline he encounters because that's what brings him joy.
AND he gets uncomfortable when you turn it around on him! When they say Good Job captain or Captain did you drink water today he does NOT like that😭
It's not about HIM the enterprise, starfleet, none of that is about Kirk, it's about what Kirk can DO for those things. How can he give to it, how can he make the mission work.

I’ve been summoned! I love this idea >~< I’ll have to add it to my baby Sopek comic plans! I have a few in mind 🥴🥴
Headcanon: Saavik 100% knows who Sopek is/how they're kinda sorta related. Hack his confidential personnel files and then just casually never mention it! It's what Spock would do!
At some point Sopek has to break the news to her and he's quaking in his stylish high heeled boots and she's just like, "Yeah I knew that. (beat) Why are we still talking about this?"
Oh my you absolutely clocked Sopek! The "quaking in his stylish high heeled boots" part really got me 😆
As for Saavik knowing all this time and keeping it under her hat, I love that headcanon too.
Even funnier is that Sopek was born the year after she was with Spock on Dantria IV, meaning hypothetically, she could have encountered Stonn and T'Pring with a tiny Sopek in a baby sling during an event if she accompanied Sarek, and wondered why the hell did they choose to name their kid "born of Pon Farr", then years later see his file and go, "Damn it's so their son", only to hack the file and confirm that hypothesis.
Anyway love that!

This story ROCKS guys seriously op SMASHED Joanna McCoy’s pov
just like old times | Hey, Joan
Written for the @startrek-eridani project, ideally part of the first act of Episode 5: Hey, Joan
Summary: After leaving Starbase 14 an old face returns to haunt Joanna McCoy.
Joanna McCoy’s day went to shit the moment she read the new crew members that had joined them from Starbase Fourteen.
They had spent three days docked and the Eridani’s crew had been allowed a well deserved shore leave. Everyone took advantage of the occasion, of course, with the exception of their Captain, who found herself dealing with the fallout of their latest mission gone awry.
Joanna had spent three blessed days of peace, allowing herself to sleep in and spend the day reading lighthearted novels and rewatching her favourite Andorian movies.
Perhaps it had been because of those days of comfort and relaxation, far away from anything resembling scalpels and tricorders, that the universe decided to throw her another bump in the road.

OH MY GOSH A MILLION TIMES YES!! (This is a weird note but for some reason this reminded me of how Ponyo evolves from a fish to a girl through weird chicken-frog phases, idk.) I think I’ve seen others (or wikis) mention Betazoid eyesight being different from humans in terms of night vision (like frogs), and maybe field of view is wider, but they evolved to handle similar-to-human typical lighting when they evolved to remain primarily on land?? Maybe this also has some sort of connection to how their REM is reached at a different frequency than humans??
Side note I’ve found the home planet is called Cyndriel by the Betazoid people!
Thank you guys for contributing to this!
Hi! First off I want to say I love your analyses of Vulcan culture and pieces regarding Vulcan language, etc. it’s always so well-thought out and interesting to read/consider!! I’m also a huge fan of your writing in general <3. I was wondering, though, if you’ve ever given any thought to Betazoid culture and religion, or even language? Although there’s mention of the Four Deities and some cultural (religious??) artifacts, as well as seemingly matriarchal Houses, there doesn’t seem to be much info in terms of specifics or what the polytheistic belief system on Betazoid might actually entail- and I’ve seen a handful of Betazoid words, but not much in the way of language or language structure, so I basically was just curious as to whether you had any thoughts or headcanons on any of this! Sorry for such a long ask lol
Oh man, that's so interesting to think of! I really don't know a thing about Betazoids though.
I have a couple headcanons, like that they didn't use language at all before their first contact, or that they are naturally pretty upbeat and non aggressive (which is why they don't shield their telepathy like Vulcans do—no dark feelings to hide).
But I'm fairly certain beta canon would nix the first one, because supposedly Betazoids don't develop telepathy till adolescence. (Though I don't like that—they are so relaxed in their use of it that it feels like they must have it from the beginning.)
I also think Betazed is an exonym—something humans assigned them from the Greek alphabet. Which would mean their own name for themselves might be quite different! That is, if they called themselves anything at all before meeting humans.
So in short: I've got nothing, but maybe somebody else who sees this might know something?

Alright, I’ve finally gotten around to doing some fanart for “One (1) Daily Shoulder Pat” by @android-and-ale of Selarie and Jim- if you haven’t read this story, I HIGHLY recommend you do!! It’s got comedy, angst, sexy Vulcan OCs, a great plot, and so much more! I hope I’ve done slight justice to the Vision, including Jim’s silly little shortened robes lol. I frankensteined some Vulcan script to make the word “dorli”, or “honorable” for Selarie’s robes.

lol PSA an oopsie happened but you can still sign up for Eridani episode prompts!!!
I’m currently writing up something right now, and you bet your ass Terrance Riley (and Sopek) are gonna be featured in it… 🥴
The S1 Prompt for Star Trek Eridani have been mistakenly removed from the collection (I am sorry, I'm still learning how to use the collection setting of the prompt meme). They are now up once more and you can sign up again in the claims you had, or if you're new, find new and interesting prompts! We were so glad to see such interest and I hope we can count on all of you again, despite this technical mishap.
Link to the collection and prompts Here.
Once again, many apologies.

Name signification of the Star Trek Eridani crew, P.1
Captain Saavik: Saavik is the first Vulcan woman introduced in Star Trek who's name did not follow the " T' " convention (The T' prefix being the contraction of the word T'sai, meaning "lady" in Vulkhansu).
That is due to the fact that her name is in fact a Romulan name, meaning "Little Cat" in Rhiannsu. The name Saavik does also exist in Vulcan, but is a traditionally male name coming from the words sa’ahkh-vik, meaning "From the well-war" and referring to the ancient conflicts around wells and water sources in the Forge.
Saavik is said to be of Spock's clan as of the time of ST: Eridani, and if we follow the clan name given to him in the novel Ishmael, her full name would be S'chn T'gai Saavik, with S'chn coming from the words s’khart-lan, meaning "from the captain" in Vulkhansu, and T'Gai, coming from the words t’sai gadzhai, meaning "lady of the feast". That usage has however yet to be seen in the Alpha Canon of Star Trek.
David James Marcus: David is a name of hebrew origin, meaning "To love" or "Beloved". It is worth of note that another Star Trek character shares this name, David McCoy, Leonard H. McCoy's father, and subsequently, Joanna McCoy's grandfather.
David Marcus' middle name, James, was first confirmed in the book Star Trek II: Biographies. That implies that despite Carol Marcus' wish to raise her son on her own, she still gave him his father's name as a middle name. The name James is of Hebrew and Latin origins, and has the meaning "supplanter", "seized-by-the-heel" and "may he protect".
Marcus is a latin name, meaning "Dedicated to Mars", the god of war, or "Warlike". It was greatly used in Roman history and survived beyond the Roman Empire.
Joanna Eleonora McCoy: The name Joanna is derived from Greek, Hebrew and Latin, and means "God is gracious". In-Universe, it was a Hall family name, and was ultimately chosen by Jocelyn.
Eleonora on the other hand, while continuing the tradition of weird McCoy's middle name, was chosen by Leonard, as his own grandmother was name Eleanor. Eleonora is a derived name coming from the Old Provençal French Aliénor, having among it's meaning "light", "brilliant" and "Merciful", and the name Aliénor is also descended from the Greek name Helen.
McCoy is a last name of Scottish and Irish origin, and is the anglicised version of "son of Aodh", a deity connected with fire.

This is so awesome I’m freaking outtt
Concept art for an Eridani poster featuring the superior officers. It looked better in my head but it’s also 4 am and I really should be sleeping. so I can’t be sure how good this actually is because my eyes aren’t reliable narrators after 2am
I got a burst of energy and now I want to make so many posters for this series
