I like to think of jolie as a really sweet person but ultimately a huge enabler to the people around her. it's more preoccupied with how its loved ones personally perceive it and the strength of their relationship instead of either person's safety, which results in a lot of toxic co-dependence and enabling on her part. in my head that's part of the reason her old relationship with jalal fell apart, and also why she has a hard time getting her past relationships fully off her own back.

in a sense, she's a short-term-thinking heavily-biased utilitarian to the extent of being a tad bit manipulative while also almost entirely prioritizing the comfort and enjoyment of her loved ones with little consideration to the long-term consequences. it causes her to be very self destructive initially, then that energy usually translates into everyone in the relationship being hurt.
