JUSTICE FOR CASEY GOODSON

On December 4th, 2020, Casey Christian Goodson Jr. (23 years old) was shot three times in the back and murdered by a Sheriff’s Deputy as he was entering his home in Columbus, Ohio. Goodson’s family stated that he was returning home from a dentist appointment, holding a Subway sandwich, his face mask, and his keys, when he was shot.

Two days later, the Columbus Police Department made a statement alleging that James Meade, the deputy responsible for Goodson’s death, saw a man believed to be Goodson with a gun while driving. Meade then approached Goodson after he exited his car and walked home, where he was shot.

Hours after the shooting, the US Marshal for the Southern District of Ohio, Peter Tobin, confirmed that Goodson was not the fugitive they were searching for. However, Tobin also added that he believed that the shooting was justified, claiming that Goodson was shot after he refused to drop his “weapon.”

Yet another Black man murdered by the police.

DEMAND JUSTICE.

If you’ve followed me for a while, you’ve probably seen my hand-painted pins. I’ve been making them since 2017 and always had people inquiring if I’d sell some. Back in May, I made a bunch of pins around the theme of "Famous Art" to serve as my first collection because besides being an art student, I’m also an art history tutor at my University.

Over the summer I simply couldn’t muster up the energy to figure out the technical aspects of selling my pins, so that brings us to now: a week ago my mom asked me what I was waiting for, and that’s when I finally decided to sit down and make an online shop.

Pins are something I love making when I feel like creating, but don’t have any inspiration. I spend about an hour on each individual pin and they’re a labor of love. I really hope you love them too! 💗

My first repeat pattern in a while, and not about cookies for once! It’s another thing I did for my Surface Design class this semester. I feel like I’ve really leveled up my pattern skills since my first two because this one was pretty ambitious in comparison. Also the new "Pattern Preview" feature in Photoshop 2021 is just *chef’s kiss*
