adding on to this now that i’m at work. one of my tasks has been made easier for me by tenfold as a result of many of my ocs. i’m not kidding. because of their stories and histories my job is significantly easier than it should be.

MAKE THOSE SELF-INCERTS. WRITE THOSE OCS. THE JOY IS ALWAYS WORTH IT.

don’t ever let ANYONE tell u that fanwork fanfic/fanart is a waste of time bc 1) JOY and 2) my employers just reached out to me to request some of my creative works (interning in the creative industry this summer) and SPECIFICALLY asked for artwork/writing examples. so i sent them all my worldbuilding files for a homebrew campaign i hosted in my sophomore year of highschool that utilised scrapped concepts/ideas from an unreleased/unfinished DSMP fanfiction i started a few years before. they asked me SPECIFICALLY to add it to my portfolio so they could read up on it. and that portfolio already included fanart btw. and oc art. and they loved it.

so keep making that fanwork. it’s always worth it/
