I was thinking about Orpheus and Eurydice and how him turning was an act of love, in every version of the myth (be it the one where he hears her trip and turns to help her, or the one where he can't hear her at all and thinks something happened...) he turns because he loves her, and that's why he loses her.

And it also got me thinking about how Kaz almost lost Inej because he couldn't not look at her when Van Eck was making his threats. His eyes search for her in a moment of danger and in that she gets kidnapped and almost tortured. Because he loves her, he turns, and that's why he almost loses her too.
