HAPPY INDIGENOUS PEOPLES DAY!🙏🏾💧🌏🌎🌍❤️I hope to be as knowledgeable and courageous as Kumu Kaleikoa...He is an educator, a spiritual activist and a truth spokesman, he puts himself on the line for his home and people! We were honored to hear Kumu Kaleikoa speak and give perspective and dispel the misinformation and myths that oppress us ALL who are PEOPLE of and for the Natural World! We got to give prayers on the grandfather drum because my brother Makana has been pursuing his Ancestry and I am fortunate to form a brotherly bond with him, so I may learn and give assistance when it comes to this Tradition. We're doing it again! Last night was an incredible evening of Hawaiian Chant🌬! We are so honored to be amongst those that have inspired us and whom we see as larger than life! Their contributions to the Hawaiian Culture and Community have paved the way for those like us to share with them on this platform of Art of the Chanter! MAHALO to our Halau Lineage, to our Kumu, to our Halau Ohana, and to everyone who have made this journey for us possible. These are photos of My sister Kekai and I from over a year apart, the last time we performed together, as you can see we support eachother through and through LOL! In preparation for this weekend, I wanted to share these pictures from last years Ho'ike and 43rd Kamehameha Competition...I'm so grateful for and humbled by all of my relationships in Halau, I have not known such meaning to my life or that I could find a multi-generational family on this little piece of land in the middle of the ocean. I love you all and I carry you with me wherever I am. Mahalo Na Kumu for teaching me and having me as a student...I hope to be a worthy carrier of this lineage and with all of you as my foundation and roots, I can continue to pursue excellence!
