5 Tiny Writing Tips That Aren’t Talked About Enough (but work for me)
These are some lowkey underrated tips I’ve seen floating around writing communities — the kind that don’t get flashy attention but seriously changed how I write.
1. Put “he/she/they” at the start of the sentence less often.
Try switching up your sentence rhythm. Instead of
“She walked to the window,”
try
“The window creaked open under her touch.”
Keeps it fresh and stops the paragraph from sounding like a checklist.
2. Don’t describe everything — describe what matters.
Instead of listing every detail in a room, pick 2–3 objects that say something.
“A half-drunk mug of tea and a knife on the table”
sets a way stronger tone than
“There was a wooden table, two chairs, and a shelf.”
3. Use beats instead of dialogue tags sometimes.
Instead of:
"I'm fine," she said.
Try:
"I'm fine." She wiped her hands on her skirt.
It helps shows emotion, and movement.
4. Write your first draft like no one will ever read it.
No pressure. No perfection. Just vibes. The point of draft one is to exist. Let it be messy and weird — future you will thank you for at least something to edit.
5. When stuck, ask: “What’s the most fun thing that could happen next?”
Not logical. Not realistic. FUN. It doesn’t have to stay — but chasing excitement can blast through writer’s block and give you ideas you actually want to write.
What’s a tip that unexpectedly helped with your writing? Let me know!! 🍒

(MASSIVE SPOILERS FOR THE SIBILINGS MISSION IN DYING LIGHT 1 AHEAD)
(I know i should really post more stories in this account but Steam decided to offer Dying light 1 with all dlcs by less than 7 dollars... so yeah i am being held hostage by funny zombie jump game)
Final hours.
A dead man lies inside the darkness. Mindless eternity and conscious shame fight over his flesh, it doesn’t matter, the fate of that battle was decided a long time ago. But it didn’t have to finish today, did it? His parting vitality was not destined to stain this floor, or maybe it was, maybe his hubris was already carved in the ruins of his prison, maybe it had been there since the very first time he opened his eyes.
Thinking of the dilemma is useless, after all in this moment the only act worth doing now is to orchestrate his final and only symphony. As he spits instructions to a better man, he can feel his consciousness being drained by eternity, but he must endure, because what kind of musician doesn’t get to listen to his own melody, he is nothing close to a Bethoven.
After cruelly stretched minutes of wait the dead man’s ears are finally reached by the sweetness of explosions and of a work well done, almost well done really, but that was as close as someone like him was going to get.
The dead man listens for the first and last time the noise of a better man celebrating him, as if his efforts weren’t useless, as if he wasn’t useless

Hello! Right now I have only posted publicly in AO3 through the username "Gay_in_the_Modern_Meaning" (You should be able to find it in my bio now!) though keep in mind that those stories don't represent my writing skills completely due to the time that has happened for some of them, soon enough I should publish more stories through this account, stay tuned!

Death in europe.
Death itself covers the streets of Europe, one of each three lives ends without a chance to fight back, every encounter between loved ones ends with a "goodbye" instead of a "see you later". It's a horror beyond any knowledge you or your peers may possess; people stare at you, some fearful and some hopeful, you can’t correspond the latter.  You do everything you can with what little you know and have, you cover yourself to avoid the filth and stuff your face with herbs to avoid the smell, it’s in the air it’s in the skin, but how, how?  That is the question, isn’t it? "How?", each decision you take is either wrong by a few units of distance or by an entire cosmos of ignorance, even with how hard you and your peers try, you never seem to be completely correct, causing the miasma's omnipresence to be even more notorious.  Families sleep in the same dirty and cold bed for eternity, that could be your family, it probably is already.  Death itself covers the streets of Europe, and you must defy it.
