Introduction
Hello everyone, and thank you for visiting Play Ltd! I wanted to make a quick introduction of myself and the podcast, Play Ltd, which my friend Mike and I are producing. I’m sorry if I come off at being too formal, but hopefully I can entice you to listen to our first episode.
My name is Ian and video games have been an important part of my life for different reasons ever since I was very young. One of the biggest reasons games are important to me is that they can be ways to meet and bond with people, which is how Mike and I became friends years ago in high school. After high school we moved to different parts of the country, but our friendship persisted in part because of our shared gaming interests.
Recently I had the chance to visit Mike in person for the first time in years and we briefly talked about starting a weekly podcast as a way to get in touch more frequently. We didn’t know what we wanted to talk about, but felt that video games would be a good place to start.
When we sat down on May 28th to record our first episode we didn’t have a specific direction we wanted to go, but as our conversation unfolded we knew what we wanted to do: limit ourselves to playing one game to see if that changes our experience and the enjoyment derived from the game.
 Welcome to Play Ltd!
 Ian

Mumbling...
My first post on the website! I am not really sure what to say. Ah, how embarrassing… A grand debut with no planning. I suppose I should talk about what has been going on lately.
It’s been 3 weeks since Ian and I started our endeavor in Play Ltd. That is to say, we’ve restricted ourselves to playing just one game, and that game only, for a set number of weeks. I am not sure we had a good idea of why we wanted to do this when we first came to the decision, or at least not a reason in concrete terms. As the weeks have progressed and we’ve discussed our thoughts (recordings of said discussions will be uploaded somewhere, sometime, I’m sure), it’s become pretty clear that we were chasing after a type of focus that was forced upon us as kids.
See, when you’re young, the things you own and your means to get new things (ie. money) are limited. The limitation on what you can dedicate your attention to leads to a greater focus on each outlet you choose, in turn making your experiences more memorable. This limitation, and by chain of force, the experience derived from it, is what we were after. In a way, I think we knew exactly that from the start. It was just our hearts that knew it, not our brains.
After reaching this realization, I have decided to implement this same limitation on other things in my life.  From my music selection, to the television or videos that I watch, how I communicate with others - I’m considering how I can limit myself to improve the enjoyment I get out of life. Heck, I’m even limiting myself to fewer snacks!
I’m sure there are some who will read this and think I have no self control or discipline, and they will be right! I often can’t help myself when buying new things. How terrible! Maybe one day, many years down the line, they will learn of the man I will become and think, “Hey, that man is getting the most out of his life with nothing more than what he already has.” That’s a nice sentiment, isn’t it?
To put it short, Play Ltd has been a very positive experience for me so far. It has been refreshing, and even a bit inspirational. I’m looking forward to where we go from here.
(Please listen to our podcast!)

Mike
