MISS ME?! I’m back, baby! 

I’m back! But... new.

I’ve been away from tumblr for over a year now, but I think it’s time for me to return. I am @plussizeadventure, but I wanted to start a new main blog. That was me for 5 years, and I’d like to just leave that as is. This is me now!

For those who haven’t met me before, I’m Taylor! I’m a linguistics professor, full time nerd, and bad gamer. I’m also incredibly out of shape. In a past life on tumblr, I went through the journey of losing over 70 pounds! A combination of finishing a PhD, leaving a marriage, and starting over in another state led to gaining all that back and more. But I’ve decided to fix it.

Hey, Tumblr Friends -- A few of you have reached out individually, too, to check on me. It means so much! I know I’ve been very quiet, and that’s largely due to being swamped with work and not really knowing where tumblr is fitting in to my life right now. 

I’ve had this blog for almost 5 years, and there’s almost 9,000 of you who follow it! But I also know that my first priority right now is not fitness or weight loss, and that’s why I started the blog in the first place. I also had a bit of a “NOPE” reaction when I learned that my ex still reads this regularly. Enough to email a response to my post about them coming out as nonbinary/trans. There’s definitely a “Is NOWHERE safe?!” feeling with that, but that’s not your fault. (And dude, this is not an excuse to email me again.) So I got very quiet. 

To add on to it... I noticed that the only followers I was picking up were porn bots for MONTHS, and that can get disheartening. Basically, I’m trying to figure out what I want from tumblr and how it can be an awesome thing for me again.

Doing OK?

I’m doing fine! I know I dropped off. That’s due to a mix of being asked to come do a final round multi-day interview for a new job out of state and also being kind of disillusioned with tumblr right now. I’m all good!

In fact, I’m about to head into Day 2 of this campus visit!

The bottom half’s black is mostly done (I’m leaving the numbers on the die for later) so it’s time to expand the grid and work up top! It felt super weird to take the hoop off.

My current cross stitch project! I’m starting with the black, and it’s starting to finally show some progress. Nothing like meshing nerdy hobbies 😂

Down visiting family for a belated Christmas thing, but TODAY I’m heading into DC to meet with a colleague that I’m beginning a collaboration with. I’m excited for a day of linguistics!
