Hello! I've always been really shy to comment on your work on AO3, but I just want to say that I love Serpentine Tears. Sometimes it even seems like it's a work of it's own just from how "alive" you make it feel through your writing. The most interesting part of it is how you bend and explore Stavrogin's character when he's faced with someone like Alexandra, who's always resisting/refusing to play his game, because then he wants to find out why and how she's doing this, and simultaneously he finds him getting more and more entangled with her! She also doesn't just function as a "savior" or some untouchable character, since we get glimpses of moments where she breaks down from having to uphold her wall against him, too.
Sorry, I didn't mean for this to get long, I just have many thoughts about it! I can't wait to read more from you 🧡
(crying, shaking as i type this) thank you so much...

I really like the analyses you've written about Demons, and even the charts and stuff on C&P and TBK. Does your educational background come in handy for these things?
first of all, thank you for taking the time to read them :) as for your question, it's gonna be a yes and no 😅
yes, because we did have lessons on literary analysis in both my filipino and english classes in elementary/high school, so i have a good grasp of the basic stuff when it comes to picking apart texts and/or characters. we also did those SRA reading labs with the booklets and answer keys A LOT when i was kid. that really boosted my lexile level.
it's also a no, because i majored in applied psychology in college. there's barely any literary analyses in that program, as we're dealing mostly with psychological test construction, development, and administration. it's very technical, and quite far from my hobbies.

I'm honestly curios, what's everyone's favorite book by Dostojevskij? And why is that?
The Brothers Karamazov and Demons really spoke to me but all of his books that I have read have honestly been masterpieces.
#i know i post mainly about demons nowadays but i still answered crime and punishment#i have a deep emotional bond with that book#demons and tbk are both very intellectually stimulating for me though

I know you ship rasraz, but what are your opinions on raskolnikov x sonya and dunya x razumikhin?
i love them both too! with ras and sonya i do think one has to be careful not to reduce sonya into someone who only exists to temper raskolnikov's attitude; she's got her own purpose and strengths :) there's a lot to explore regarding how raskolnikov cares for her too. (though i will still criticize him for what he told her, ehem the [in]famous c&p quote ehem)
razdunya is so adorable to me. it's pretty evident in the book how much raskolnikov trusts dunya with raz, and he prefers him over luzhin by so much (as he should). it's one of those dosto ships that you just can't help but like because they're a breath of fresh air. they just make sense you know? this bts video of their 2007 actors still has me in a chokehold.

From Oscar Wilde's essay "Impressions of America" (1882.) He spotted a sign which read this, hanging over a piano at a bar in Leadville, Colorado.

writing isn’t hard it’s just emotionally devastating and time-consuming and requires full body possession by an idea
#i love writing because it gives me so many emotions that the force of it is enough to make me feel alive#yeah#rin.sulatin
