How's your anxiety?

How's your anxiety? Mine felt like I was going to die everyday. I step out of the house and felt like i was going to be run down by a car or that somebody will kidnap me and rape me and brutally murder me, chop me into pieces and throw my parts on a faraway field where no one can find me. I go to church and felt like a demon will possess my body. I fear that some people are the devil in disguise. At night, I made sure the kitchen knives are properly kept before i sleep so i won't be able to get them easily just in case i suddenly go crazy. I also made sure the doors are locked at least twice before going to bed. Every pain i felt in my body was a serious, deadly disease. My stomach was full of acid and my whole body was twitching as physical manifestations of my anxiety. Sometimes my anxiety had triggers- a movie, a news article, a comment. I had to stop watching the news and those crime shows i liked. Sometimes, i'd wake up in the middle of the night, sweating and running out of breath for no reason. Sometimes i only had one thing to worry about. Sometimes i had a hundred. Sometimes i didn't even know why i was worried. Sometimes i'd breeze through work while irrational thoughts are swimming inside my head. Other days, it'd be so bad that i'd make an excuse to skip work and i'd feel so bad about myself. This was my anxiety. How about you? **I wrote this in past tense because this was how i felt more than 8 years ago. It was really tough back then. I am relieved to say i've been better at handling my anxiety now maybe because i've accepted that it's part of me and who i am.. it also helps that i've become more vocal about it instead of just keeping all these thoughts in my head like i used too. I still have anxiety attacks every now and then.. lately a lot. and i worry i'd go back to how i was before. It is a constant battle not to let my anxiety get the best of me. Some days i am awesome at winning, some days i'm not so lucky but one thing is for sure, anxiety isn't everything and i won't let it define me.
