Never in my life have I thought there is a right and wrong way to be religious or to worship regardless of your faith or religion.

I still don’t think this. It’s not my place to judge others relationships with the Gods or whatever they may worship! Your relationship with your faith is one only you as a person can decide.

But I get so tired of this idea of the Scary Gods getting mad at you for not refreshing their offerings. Or having a moment of weakness. Or being tired and busy and not being able to give them the attention you want.

I just have to wonder why fear has to be so intertwined with faith and Gods. For me being pagan is a joyful experiences that gives me guidance and warmth and often makes me feel my life has a purpose and a path. I can’t begin to understand fear being intertwined into worshipping the same Gods I speak to and worship.

Like I said, it’s not my place to judge. If that’s the relationship you have there is nothing wrong with that! Everyone is allowed to have different interpretations! Please don’t get me wrong. But make sure you take care of yourself too!! Don’t give to much to the point where you can’t function.

I will say this, giving offerings to deities isn’t inherently a transaction. If you have a relationship with your deities giving offerings is more how I’d describe your friends/family (and other close relationships) helping you do something like moving and buying them a meal as thanks. You wouldn’t call that a transaction because it isn’t, it’s simply a thank you because they didn’t have to do it but they did because of the bond you have. They did it because they are close to you and wanted to help out when you asked. Other times it’s because you simply appreciate them and want to give them nice things as you would for the bonds mentioned above because it’s a thank you just for being there. That is reciprocity, not putting a bit of change up to a dollar or two in a vending machine with next to no impact or meaning behind it because it’s a vending machine, not someone that’s a living, breathing individual.

Aphrodite is the unrestrained. There is not a single god or mortal she has not shaken the will of. Even Athena, who bares her Aegis and lifts her spear to battle, crumbled in despair for her love for Pallas, the daughter of Triton. Even Artemis, who shunned the realm of men and civilization and walked hand in hand with the wilderness, was overcome by rage for the death of someone she loved, Hippolytus. Hestia too, who holds a dear love for humanity. It is foolish to think Aphrodite has not moved them, for all gods love, and all mortals love. We remove Aphrodite's supreme power and influence by assuming she only reigns over the love shared between lover and lover and not those of parent and child, sibling and sibling, friend and friend and god and devotee. For far too long has Aphrodite been reduced to Paris, boxes of chocolates, Valentine's Day, the colour pink and sex. She is far more than that. Much more than that.

Do you have any advice for deity work/worship while being a system? Feel free to ignore of course! Just looking for some tips since I myself have been a bit nervous about traversing this sort of thing

Systems are tricky. Obviously, all alters should have the individual right to practice whatever religion they please and/or no religion at all but sometimes it's not that simple. When a host decides on religion it's kind of weirdly attached to everyone else in at least the sense that other alters may have to mask if their practice is public. I hope that makes sense. anyways communication is the first big step with anything like this. If you're able to communicate with your system well make sure to have a talk with everyone and let them know about your choice in religion or choice in new diety or the work itself. Hopefully, everyone can respect that

Some of us participate in Hellenism, and some of us don't. The ones who do all try to put in our fair share of work by individually bonding to our deities. The ones who don't participate have all agreed to be respectful of our own choices and that makes practicing and communicating with the Gods a lot easier for sure.

The Gods also know. They understand mental health very very well, I have never had any problem with any of my relationships with my deities due to not fronting, not practicing as much, having other alters not believing...etc. In fact (controversial I know) but we do indeed have introjects of some gods, so even when things get tricky and may be seen as disrespectful, the Gods have always genuinely understood. I wouldn't worry about the Gods judging you for something we cannot control nor can we (fully) heal from.

My best advice to you is to take it one step at a time. You are always doing enough and the Gods understand when you aren't around. Communication within your own system and with your deities will always be key.
