there's black plastic in the windows of what used to be the secondhand store. i used to be able to see straight to the back and into the empty vault, and before that, i shopped there. i found a great bag there once. now i can only see in enough to know they've installed blinds behind the plastic. there's blue plastic in the windows of the old shisha bar, too. there's been a knife on the floor since the plastic went up, peeking out from underneath, and nobody's bothered to move it in the months since. the post office had its interior gutted and now there's a flyer with tear off tabs all in chinese taped over the for-lease sticker. what used to be a noodle bar has been turned into a brothel. 523 is still entirely empty unless you count the junk mail piling up behind the slot in the door
