Main Characters of Six of Crows

It’s DOOOOONE! It’s finally finished! Oh my gosh, what a journey this has been! I started concept on this last July (2020) and have been working in chunks via Instagram Lives to complete this sequel papercraft of the Six of Crows for over a year! I’m so excited to present Hook And Crook, inspired by a specific scene that happens in Crooked Kingdom. I’ve been stating this over and over again during the lives, but there were specific mirrors happening here between the two papercrafts that wholly define the dynamics of the characters and the two books.
We talked about how the symbols in the facade of the Slat in Featherdark (Six of Crows papercraft) represented the strengths of each character (cane, knife, guns, bombs etc). The crow is standing proud and upright, above the city, to symbolize the upper-hand that the dregs had during SOC.
Now, the tables have turned in Hook And Crook. The symbols on the facade of the hotel show the character’s weaknesses (gloves, a red bird, gambling wheel, Dunyasha’s stars, paintbrush & laurels etc). The crow is defensively crouching with its hackles raised, the city above and oppressing - all representing the dregs having to turn and fight under dire circumstances. And bonus! When you put the two side-by-side, a little nod to a certain Ravkan symbol takes form! What a stupidly fun project this was! I’m so happy it’s finally finished and I thank you all for those who joined me in the lives to watch the process! (so sorry for the low quality on this; Featherdark is my most pilfered artwork for unsanctioned merch 💔)

Ronan, externally: Silent and judgmental, looks like a poisonous snake, will cut you, has godlike powers even he doesn’t fully understand
Ronan, internally: if I die first, which is likely bc I’m dying like rn, all the time, and make shitty choices, will my boyfriend, who will be my husband if he doesn’t leave me for any of the bright accomplished faces I see on the Harvard brochure, will my future husband remarry and then I’ll have to share him in heaven for eternity?oh fuck he’s in some weird tarot trance right now with Gansey’s unholy throuple and he’s compared god to parasite sex like more than a few times, he’s definitely going to hell. am I going to hell? am I human? do I even have a soul and if I don’t what does that mean for Matthew and is the handcat trying to eat Opal again fuck what if I dream my mom back and she eats brains

How much complication was too much complication for Adam Parrish
wrecked dorm
traumatized by dream security system Ronan never warned him about
held at gun point
questioned by the feds
called Declan, but not him, for monthsss
has no idea if they broke up or if Ronan is even alive
kicked out of dreamspace
accused of trying to kill him
hung up on
is apparently the collective nightmare that’s terrorized Adam in dreamspace and that wants to destroy the world
And this boy says “post tenebrus lux” I stg. I’ve seen so many posts about people doubting whether Adam loves Ronan as much as Ronan loves him. Pretty sure this is conclusive proof bc he would be well within his rights to throw him out a window

Leiden - the best in many ways
I know I should write more. Now, my friend from Turkey came to visit me and I’m picking her to important places in the Netherlands. She seems to like the country and especially Amsterdam and Leiden. I can tell you about our trips later but now I will write about Leiden.

Leiden is a small city that has all the facilities one may need. You can chill out, relax, have a nice nature trip but also glorious night out, drinking. As many Dutch people tell; Leiden is like a little Amsterdam. For so many people, it is more than that. Architecture, canals and green atmosphere is more visible than in Amsterdam. Also, people of the city is mostly students and that means Leiden is a live city.
The list of specialities of Leiden:
-Poems on walls: You can come across a poem written on a wall in its original language. Russian, Italian or in any language. There is also one of Fakir Baykurt’s Turkish poem in a little street.
-Canals and windmills: Canals are in everywhere in the NL but here it s much more beautiful. They are much in quantity but the most importantly they are linked to each other. You can have a boat trip and see almost the whole city. The thing that makes these trips so magnificent, is architecture andd windmills. Those are old windmills that Dutch people built to pump the water and keep themselves not to drown.
-Leiden University: This university was founded in 1575 after local people of Leiden saved their city from Spanish army’s attacks. According to the story; the William of Orange rewarded Leiden’s honorable people by building a university. However, as I learnt in my Dutch Studies course, the real aim was to support the commerce, life and safety of the city, they wanted to open a university and make the city powerful. That’s why the first faculty that was opened was the Law faculty. The reason was to teach “consensus” to new generations
-Hortus Botanicus Leiden: After the university was founded, university council and governors wanted this university to have a botanical garden. All prestigious universities of that time used to have one. Corolus Clusius was invited to make a botanical garden and fill it with the most beautiful flowers. Clusius was a famous gardener and had hundreds of flowers. He saw a charming flower in his friend’s garden in Italy. His friend told him that this beautiful flower is from Turkey. Clusius imported those beautiful flowers , tulips and planted them to the University’s garden. Then, this flower had its own market and became a tradition in the Netherlands. Still, tulips are really important for the Netherlands and they import their tulip bulbs to every part of the world.
-Museums: Like in many cities in the NL, Leiden has important museums . Since I haven’t seen any of them, I do not want to write about them now.
-Pieterskerk: As its name suggests, it is a church. But now it is used as a hall for events. I went there to listen Ban Ki-moon’s Freedom Lecture and the atmosphere was inspiring for me.
P.S: I know I will learn other things peculiar to this city but now these are all I can tell.
DON’T forget to visit Leiden, if you come to the Netherlands.

9월 3일 - Tuesday
Today I finally moved to my university city! It was a hassle moving all my stuff, but I'm really happy with how everything turned out. I can't wait for the new school year to begin and to start actually working on my desk instead of only using it to eat dinner and watch some kdramas...

Saturday January 13th ~ Currently studying at a place in Amsterdam where students can pay 15 euros to sit and study the whole Saturday, including unlimited amounts of coffees, drinks, food and sweets. Aka studying in heaven atm. The place is seriously great and the atmosphere is amazing.
