"For [Tanner] Green, the chief engineer at Not a Wheelchair, this is one of the thousand complications standing between his team and a rather lofty goal: upending the manual wheelchair marketplace.
If you’ve heard of Not a Wheelchair, it’s likely because of its owners, Zack Nelson, the star of the 8.8-million-subscriber YouTube channel JerryRigEverything, and his wife Cambry, a para and manual wheelchair user. The Nelsons got into the mobility equipment business a few years ago when they released The Rig, an electric, adaptive off-road device with a simple yet robust and functional design priced significantly lower than anything else on the market. Now, they’re bringing that same ethos to manual wheelchairs.
Not a Wheelchair aims to offer a base-model, custom manual wheelchair at a similar or better quality than most of the insurance-approved wheelchairs in the U.S. for $999.
Yes, that’s just under $1,000 for everything — wheels, handrims, tires, side guards and rigid, angle-adjustable backrest included. And the company plans to have a turnaround time of weeks, rather than the monthslong slog that it typically takes from order to delivery.
When I first heard about this, it sounded awesome and a bit far-fetched. It’s hard to find a pair of quality wheelchair wheels for less than $500. Same with a rigid backrest. How were they going to offer both, plus a custom wheelchair frame without compromising on quality? I drove to their headquarters in Utah to find out...
So how does Not a Wheelchair’s base model chair stack up to other options on the market? I hate to sound like a preacher, but … it’s totally reasonable! It hits the mark of being at least as good, if not better, than the majority of insurance-approved wheelchairs in the U.S.
Touring the factory, I saw other prototypes scattered all around the facility. There’s a beefier, four-wheel drive version of The Rig that the company just launched. There’s a track wheelchair that’s still in development. It’s clear that Not a Wheelchair doesn’t intend to stop at a simple, manual wheelchair. Inexpensive components, more advanced electric off-road devices, power assist, it’s all on the table. “We’re just really excited to see where this leads,” says Green."

Summary:
"—and I'm not gonna just leave you and the ship behind while I fuck off to Brass for The Holiday." The Holiday in question being some week-long City of Brass festival that Dani keeps referring to with Implied Capitals, but the significance of which is fully lost on Veerla; mostly because Dani absolutely refuses to elaborate, and even when she does her explanations provide approximately zero information or context for Veerla to work with whatsoever.
"Right," Veerla agrees.
Or:
Veerla gets to meet Dani's family and it's fine until it isn't.
Or:
Guess who wrote an entire fic during the last season of RWD Arc #1 and then FORGOT about it for over a year!
#rolling with difficulty#RWD#quicksilver writes things occasionally#I didn't include the tags in here#because boy howdy#there are many#but they're alsomore fun than they have any right to be#so y'all should read them#or something#I'm not the cops

Last one, y'all! The Sea of Reeds was my suggestion when me and @/shophomegrowncrone started this collab, but she went above and beyond when she made the perfume so I can't say that I regret giving myself the extra work.
These were honestly a blast to do and I'm looking forward to completing the rest of the list SHGC gave me sometime when my brain is a little less the consistency of mochi. Someday (probably later this year, unless I get distracted again).
Anyways, that's all for this series! I'll hopefully start posting some of the other fun things I have backlogged here soon! Either that or I'll finally start taking product pictures. Maybe. We'll see.
I hope you enjoyed it as much as I did making them!

-sits bolt upright in my coffin- What day is it??
(I've been on that grind trying to get ready for Wild Wild West Con later this week (which I will post about in a little bit) and forgot social media existed there for a bit)
We're down to the last few postcards, until I get around to doing the rest of the list my bezzie mate @/shophomegrowncrone on Instagram sent me ;P
Related: if you've fully forgotten what this series is--understandable, given that I can't post regularly to save my life--the aforementioned bezzie mate on Instagram is a perfumer, and these postcards are a collab between the two of us! She gave me a list of mythological places she wanted to base a line of scents on and I made postcards based off them!
Anywhomst y'all can see, this is Atlantis, if you look closely, you may recognize the building pictured here from the Olympus postcard. That was definitely intentional and not at all because I couldn't find the reference I wanted.

Oops, I never uploaded this one to Tumblr (which I only realized when someone else did, but then was kind enough to tag me, thank you)!
This is the comic that kickstarted my obsession with telling stories with as few panels as I could (usually 10-11 haha), so it’s got a soft spot in my heart.

Oklahoma is attempting to pass a bill that would ban explicit romance novels. Authors, narrators, and sellers could all face fines of up to $100,000 and up to 10 years in jail for each instance.
If you live in OK, call your representative and tell them this bill should not be allowed to pass.
This is likely a test case. Republicans will try to pass it in OK and if it passes other states will likely try to pass similar laws.
In the meantime, get physical copies of books you like. Download those pdfs. Archive your AO3 stories and keep them on a physical hard drive. (Storing those files in the cloud could be problematic in the future as the company managing the cloud service can see what your files are)

this is so rogue but does anyone have the poetry template that went semi-viral on twitter a while back? it was designed for kids but someone gave it to their mother who has dementia and she wrote a really moving poem about her experience.

Can't Have Nice Things
The Ketamine King Musk has shutdown the IRS's Free Tax Filing system.
Of all the things a government could off, a way to Freely calculate and file your taxes seems like a good one. But the richest man in the world thinks we shouldn't have that.

Hiding government and public services to reduce how much they're used and "prove" that they're unneeded is a tried and true Republican technique. It's not a conspiracy, these things are deliberately made difficult to access to discourage people from using them because "more use = more funding" and "less use = less funding" is how public service funding is generally decided.
Musk outright lying about "deleting" a whole IRS program for low income tax filing is just a progression of common Republican tactics. Don't fall for it.
