I will say, never stop seeking connections.
It gets easy to become jaded and stop trying to connect when people don't reciprocate your bid for connection. It just takes finding folks that won't leave you hanging, be they platonic or romantic relationships.

most cartoonishly evil pro-life talking point i've ever seen was "oh so you think minors should be allowed to get an abortion without parental consent?" wait. wait so you think a parent should be allowed to veto a minor's abortion? you think parents should be allowed to force a 12 year old to give birth? against their will? you think it should be allowed and legal to do that? you think it's a problem that parents are not allowed to force a literal child to give birth?

If you feel weird about crying in front of people, the other option is grey walling them. When a Karen or Ken is being a whiny ass bitch, they're doing it for the same reason a spoiled child does. Because at some point it has worked for them, and they want it to work again with you.
Grey walling prevents them for getting any reaction from you as well as them not getting their way, and it annoys the hell out of them. The pro in this situation is that when the manager does show up, you look like the calm person in the situation, and that the customer is the hysterical one (since if you work in a busy place, they usually have worked themselves up to a frenzy at this point). Depending on the severity it may still be enough to get them kicked out.
There is a con to it, and it's based on if you can weather a Karen/Ken's outburst. 10-20 minutes can be easy to manage, but some of them have enough hot air to run for 40 minutes to over an hour depending.
Story under read more:
Had a situation where it came in handy, because a guy came in to Joann's back in 2019 for one of the frame sales. In the traditional Karen/Ken way, he didn't bother to actually read the sign. The sale stated that if you buy a frame you get three free, however the bottom text read "on equal or lower priced framing". In sale speak, that means customers were paying for the most expensive frame, but the other three would be free.
This man, brought to the counter 3 cheap frames (roughly $10-15) and 9 expensive frames (roughly $30-35). He promptly lost his shit when the frames were more expensive than he was anticipating. Cue the song and dance of radioing someone to double-check the sign, relaying it to the customer, calling the manager when they continued to scream, for the manager to arrive, and have us both be yelled at that we're ruining his little girl's birthday because it was to redecorate her room, and he NEEDED them. Manager wants him gone so she tells me to just override it manually (in the tone of voice that says "if it will make this asshole shut up and leave").
Something else to know about the sale system at the time, is that coupons could not be used on door buster items (which this sale was) and if a discount was already applied to the merchandise. Ken, of course, tried to use a fucking coupon off of the entire purchase. Due to the discounts already applied, I couldn't even manually add this next discount with this man now red-faced screaming at me. The entire time I stated why the system wasn't allowing further discounts calmly and in the same tone told him he needed to quiet down as there was no reason to be so loud and belligerent.
That set him off about how he only had hearing in one ear so he had to yell (nvm that he had a regular volume when this hellish interaction began), that he was going to sue us for false advertising, how his family had lawyers and ceos in it, and a load of other threats. "Sir, if that's supposed to scare me it doesn't."
He instantly deflated and quieted down, though I could see he was still livid. Ken quietly said "fuck this" leaving the cart at the register and stormed out.
Granted once he was gone I roughly looked like a shaking chihuahua because I do not handle being yelled at for over 40 minutes very well, not that anyone does. Thankfully, no other customers were anywhere near that bad. The line Ken had forced to build up, had seen it all happen and helped me feel better after.
However, this does lead to the aforementioned con of the grey wall, as it can be very taxing to try and weather the outrage of a Karen or Ken. Especially if they think what they want is worth all the bluster and effort.
I work retail, and have for many years now. I'm not an easily fazed person and have a Talk No Shit, Take No Shit mentality. However, I also have a pretty intense anxiety disorder on top of other mental health issues and when I started 6+ years ago there were some customers who got to me.
So, to all the workers facing Karens and Kens out in the wild, here's my advice - cry.
If you have the type of relationships with your coworkers and managers that will support you, don't try to hold it in. Cry like the overworked, underpaid peon you are.
Nothing terrifies an asshole Karen like the indisputable proof that their actions/words are affecting you as a real live person. They feel perfectly entitled to cuss out a cashier over a wrong order/no cash policy/ face mask mandate but when that person starts to cry and asks them why they'd say such mean things? A whole other story, my friend.
There's no way to make that situation look good to the manager they demanded to speak with, either. My manager literally got a security guard fired for being so verbally abusive he made one of her employees cry.
This strategy has multiple benefits -
1. You're not standing there trying to pen up your emotions, crying is a great physical release for negative emotions and you may very well feel somewhat better afterwards.
2. The person who precipitated the situation is forced to not only see you as a person with feelings, but also has to confront the fact that their abuse has consequences beyond themselves.
3. It can actually give your higher-ups leverage to address these situations. 'They yelled at my employee' is one thing, but 'They yelled at my employee until they were in tears' is a waaaaay worse offense. A good manager can use that. Hell, it can get a security guard fired!
tl;dr: We live in a capitalist hell but we can work the system and cry at work to shame awful customers

Any plans to make more newborn stuff?
I plan to eventually since I want more infant clothing, and I had some stuff part way finished when I went on my last hiatus. I can probably take a peek at those files to see what is or isn't ready once the first half of the prom set is done.
