It pisses me off when people make chuuya say stuff like "ya know" in writing, not because of any actual problems if a person spoke that way, but, its spelt wrong it "y'know"

Dazatsu au where Dazai’s a model that’s notorious for being scarily good looking and difficult to work with.

Part of it is him being an arse and the other part is that people talk down to him and cross boundaries. And he doesn’t take kindly to that at all.

Dazai’s agency assigns him to a new designer and he expects the same old same old.

What he gets instead is Atsushi, a young, handsome up and coming designer. And everything he does just shifts Dazai’s world view.

Where so many treat Dazai like he’s some kind of brainless object, Atsushi is one of the few that treat him like he’s human.

Atsushi always makes sure that Dazai’s comfortable. Not once does he ever try to guilt him into removing his bandages or pry into learning why he has them.

Dazai used to always dread fittings but finds himself looking forward to them.

To hear Atsushi shyly and excitedly telling him about his ideas. He explains every detail with such breath taking enthusiasm that Dazai feels like he could listen for hours.

Resting his head on Atsushi’s shoulder during a break and watching him sketch out his various ideas. The way he brightens under Dazai’s praise both delights and saddens him.

That Atsushi could ever think he wasn’t good enough.

The clothes fit Dazai perfectly in more than just the measurements. They capture him, his best features and are surprisingly comfortable to wear.

Dazai jokes about stealing them after the show and Atsushi laughs and tells him to go ahead.

He’s so chill and kind that it takes Dazai completely by surprise when someone else steps too far, and Atsushi gives them hell.

He cuts off the entire shoot and everyone’s yelling at him and it’s complete chaos. But all Atsushi cares about is if Dazai’s okay, Dazai who practically melts under his care and stays with him that night.

He says it’s to ease Atsushi’s concerns but he knows it’s because he’s who Dazai feels safest around right now.

Curled up in his arms and believing Atsushi when he says everything will be okay. Because he’s never let him down and Dazai know he never will.

Here you go, Ada Atsushi x PM Dazai 💖 It was supposed to be just a little illustration at first, but I kept adding ideas and thinking about how it might play out, and before I knew it, it turned into a mini comic

Of course, there is a bonus panel too. Atsushi had a smoothie (do not worry about the cat 👎)

Atsushi has no idea that the guy he has been meeting is a Port Mafia executive. I just love the idea that nobody at the ADA knows about it either (though Ranpo would probably figure it out in an instant) Dazai is just too good at dodging cameras for them to catch on

Also, they have been meeting up after their jobs. Dazai is a little strange, but I am sure that is totally fine 😅

I hate those multi character oneshot things. Not the ones that include multiple characters like [character 1] x reader x [character 2] but those ones that are just like nonspecific and just have a list of characters at the bottom, cause that can lead to HUGE mischaracterization, my biggest pet peeve ever. I could rant about fanfiction things for hours on end but then I might get attacked like my last one...

somehow my brain has decided to be neurotic about atsushi as a trans man, so I’ve decided to inflict my thoughts upon you

in the beginning of the series, atsushi is very much afraid of byakko. He’s scared it will hurt people, and he’s terrified because it’s out of his control. He has been hurt so much, and he is so scared of inflicting that pain on other people without even knowing it.

Atsushi is a victim of horrific abuse.

imagine with me for a moment, a young trans man who has gone through violent abuse at the hands of a male authority figure. His abuser is the biggest example of an adult male in his life, and he has no reason to think that all men aren’t like that. So he grows up believing that men are inherently violent, and angry, and cruel, and everything he doesn’t want to be.

When standing face-to-face with his own masculinity, he feels dread and fear mixed up into a wonderful fuck-you cocktail made specially for him. He shoves it down, but he can’t run from it forever.

I think it’s fairly obvious by now where I’m going with this.

atsushi is the young trans man, and byakko is his masculinity and gender identity.

at the beginning of the series, atsushi is all alone, believing himself to be a fundamentally violent, broken person, and the ADA changes that. instead of his abuser being his sole example of masculinity, atsushi now has some good people who care about him, and male influences that are well-adjusted enough. He doesn’t want to be his abuser, but that is not a guaranteed thing that comes with accepting masculinity anymore. For the first time in his life, atsushi allows himself to look at byakko and accept it as a part of himself.

do you ever think about how maybe if byakko was given room to exist and its needs were met, maybe byakko could have been calm instead of the wild animal it was? Do you ever think about how byakko acted like a wounded animal, lashing out at anything that got near it because it didn’t know kind hands existed? Do you ever think about how that boy exists dozens of times over, all over the world, and they grow up prickly and defensive and isolated? Do you ever think that they don’t know their hands are capable of kindness?
