A Song for Easter
When thinking about holiday music, Easter tends to be left out. There are wonderful songs about Christ’s resurrection and power over death but they tend to be sung year-round. Few songs feel specifically made for Easter. However, being surrounded by music growing up, I was able to hear a song which captured the joy of the resurrection.
“The Easter Song”
by 2nd Chapter of Acts.
youtube
2nd Chapter of Acts is a 70’s band from the Jesus Movement. The song starts out from a simple piano and three-part harmony before including keyboard and drums, swirling with strings, and crescendoing in a rapture of synths to praise the miracle of the resurrection. The song captures the joy of the resurrection and salvation of that moment with 70s sounds and energy. The artist Keith Green covered the song and added an additional verse in his cover.
youtube
His cover starts off slower and plainer, consisting solely of piano and captivating vocals. The slow start feels like a personal, eyewitness account before exploding into a symphony. His voice always leads the song in joy.
Keith Green was also part of the Jesus Movement; and, his singing is “The Joy of the Lord” in how revitalizing his music is. His music is as uplifting as it is serious. He sing praises and repentance, convincingly declaring to quit apathy and lip-service to be genuine and truly follow Jesus. You can hear this in his album “No Compromise,” and would be a fine place to start if you wanted to hear more of his works. As for 2nd Chapter of Acts, the album I would recommend is “Roar of Love.” It’s the story of the first Chronicle of Narnia with enticing synths and enthralling harmonies. Through music, the album emotionally conveys the book’s story from the painful longing to go to Narnia to the delight of Aslan to the celebration of victory.
Both of these artists love God and have made multiple albums and songs. They both have a brightness to their music that is never lost in the complexity of their instruments. It is wonderful to hear the same song from them, but both arel unique and personal to the artist. “The Easter Song” remains a lovely reminder that He is Risen and will always be pure celebration of the resurrection.

Calling this done. Next step is making this a postcard. I think it turned out ok. It's come a long way from a drawing.

Since @artist-block-alley is getting into Homestarrunner (which is so good), I drew Homestar dressed as Rayman. (He has wire holding up the gloves to look like Rayman's no-armed hands.)

So this one isn't finished but I wanted to post it for #kidlitpostcard day. Here's a time-lapse of my painting progress. Funny thing, this was an old drawing I made a while back. Instead of fixing the drawing, I decided to paint it.

I made some Brok themed Valentines! I'm glad I was able to do them quickly (letting quality suffer lol). But they are decent. Ott is just so cute to draw! And they are all ok! I hope you had a good Valentine's and remembered on those who care for you.

Finished a commission of Piranha and Pigtail in their wrestling outfits! I wish I had proper movie stills to reference, but I just had to work with the trailer. It was fun to draw a strong woman like Pigtails. Thanks Zerospark101 for commissioning me.
This was two full-body linework commissions. I can do shading like this or just leave it as line art if the client wants.

The way Tanner's waving his arms, I can imagine him taking flight, like some kind of hummingbird helicopter.
Please follow "Lesser than Three" for fun comics!
