The bliss between giving my all and giving up
110 posts
I'm a 21-year-old girl from Germany who wants to get fit. This is not a blog about weight loss but about eating healthy, working out and staying motivated. My ultimate aim is to participate in a half marathon in September.

I've been thinking...
That's why I haven't been on tumblr for a while. But now I'm back and I'm even more motivated to change certain things in my life than before.
First of all: I'm still going to do that half marathon.
Then: I want to cut down on meat and animal products in general. I've been really unsure about this whole business (Is is okay to be... part-time vegan? Do vegetarians really help or is it just stupid to cut down only on meat and fish? Can I even do that? What happens when my mother cooks and it's not vegan?) but I've talked to my lovely friend English-Girls-Are-Thinner and I borrowed a book by a vegan cook who's really popular in Germany - and, yeah, let's just say I'm happy to live part-time vegan. For a start.
That's all for now :) See you later.

... I'm not going to do any kind of workout. I bumped my knee today (I can't even remember how or where or when) - it hurts like hell whenever I want to bend my leg.
So I thought I could show you my two favourite exercises.
The first one is called the Fire Hydrant (I really like that name :D):
Tumblr media
That's true. I sometimes think it's more difficult for my kneeling leg than for the moving one, haha. I really love exercises without any equipment because I don't own weights or Thera-bands and so on and I don't really feel like buying anything. I'd rather invest that money in new running clothes... :D
The second one is an exercise by Bodyrock.tv:
It's really hard! I start to feel that "intense burn in the butt" pretty soon because you work a lot of muscles to stabilise yourself on the balance ball and for the actual movement. The next day, I felt kind of stiff - but in a good way. You know, that "I worked out yesterday evening - what did you do?" way of feeling stiff. :)
This evening...
This is by far the most challenging butt exercise I’ve ever done. Great minds must think alike because Karena & Katrina from Tone It Up posted a video HERE with this move just a day before Zuzana from Bodyrock.tv did HERE.
You need a balance ball for this workout. Try Target or Walmart.
What you do is lay on your back with your feet on the ball. Lift your hips off the ground and bend you feet in towards your butt while lifting your hips even higher, with a straight line between your knees & shoulders. Straighten your legs, then you can either keep your hips off the ground or lower them (I keep them off the ground) and repeat for 10-15 reps. I usually feel a very intense burn in the butt, back of the thighs, inner thighs, and calves after just 4-5 reps. I like doing it better with out shoes btw.

This is really awesome! She's gorgeous and looks really fit!
Today I have my first real vegetarian day - that is, I don't avoid meat and gelatine by chance but deliberately. I'm doing fine so far and tomorrow, my new book about being vegetarian and vegan nutrition and a healthy way of life will arrive.
At our library, I borrowed a book with vegetarian recipes this morning and the staff member (what are they called?) told me about a book they have. It's called "Vegan for Fun" but it's already been taken out. I'm going to look for it again in August.

I am SO SICK of hearing how ‘malnourished’ vegans are and how ‘they can’t build muscle’ cause they ‘don’t get any protein omg’. So here ya go naysayers, an active vegan with muscle. Look I’m not dead!

Germany - what's wrong with your weather? It's freaking hot outside!
I can already picture me dying in the forest... oh well.
See you later - hopefully.

Warning: this blog will give you a laugh-attack.
So true. Sorry, that's not sports related but I think it's funny because I often feel like this :D

Afk...
Summer semester is over (last class was a pain in the you-know-where) and I'm so relieved.
See you in a while. I'm off, going for a run.

I give it a try - every day.
I'm going to do my workout now. I've split my exercises into two different workouts so it won't get boring (but as I find new exercises on tumblr on a daily basis, I should definitely think about a third one).
Today's workout includes many new exercises so I still need to pick my favourite one :) In my other workout, the stiff leg pullover crunch is the one I like most.
As a side note, the weather in Germany is awful these days. It's sunny and you're like "Where are my running shoes?". But before you can even think about stepping outside, it starts pouring. I don't mind rain but these downpours aren't funny. Not at all. D: Keep your fingers crosses that it won't rain tomorrow!

Food
I've decided to change my eating habits. I want to include vegetarian and vegan days in my diet every week. That also means yes, for the time being, I want to stick to meat but only for two days a week.
I'm going to start next week but that didn't stop me from trying a vegan dish at the cafeteria - chilli con soya with kidney beans, whole-grain pasta and another vegetable (but I don't known its name in English right now, sorry). It was really delicious :) I'm happy that my university decided to make room for vegetarian and vegan dishes in its cafeteria.

Today...
... a great week starts.
Breakfast: milk shake with bananas, kiwis, flax seeds, quark (whatever it is in English),  oat meal.
After breakfast: Finish my homework for linguistics :D Okay, what I'm more excited about is the new route I've picked. Let's go for a jog!
Then I'm going to tidy my boyfriend's flat for a while (because his mother wants to visit him and I offered to start early and he's going to help when he gets home from work).
Afterwards, I'll spend two boring hours in the last linguistics class for this semester.
At home again: Workout!

Let's see. I only do the hip raise exercise so far. But I do a lot of other exercises... but I guess I just have to include these, too. Maybe I should split up my workout into two different workouts so it's more fun because of the variation?

My grandma
I've just realized that it's not that far to my grandmother's home. She lives in the town next to mine and I always thought the distance would be something like or even more than 15 km. That would have been my next aim. But I've just checked with Google Earth and it's less. The only problem is this hill somewhere in the middle between my town and hers. I guess I'll just die there and have to keep going nevertheless, huh.
I'd just love to visit my grandmother. It probably doesn't sound like a big deal to you (15 km? Why doesn't she visit her every weekend?) but life isn't always fair. Maybe I can do that on Thursday. I'm able to do about 13 km.
I'm pretty excited about this idea :)
