ive seen people list the moment they knew superman 2025 got clark or lois right. for me it was when faced with the choice of sex or an interview with superman lois immediately chose the interview much to clark's dismay. iconic behaviour. fully in character for her.

Terry Pratchett started his career as a crypto-monarchist and ended up the most consistently humane writer of his generation. He never entirely lost his affection for benevolent dictatorship, and made a few classic colonial missteps along the way, but in the end you’d be hard pressed to find a more staunchly feminist, anti-racist, anti-classist, unsentimental and clear-sighted writer of Old White British Fantasy.
The thing I love about Terry’s writing is that he loved - loved - civil society. He loved the correct functioning of the social contract. He loved technology, loved innovation, but also loved nature and the ways of living that work with and through it. He loved Britain, but hated empire (see “Jingo”) - he was a ruralist who hated provincialism, a capitalist who hated wealth, an urbanist who reveled in stories of pollution, crime and decay. He was above all a man who loved systems, of nature, of thought, of tradition and of culture. He believed in the best of humanity and knew that we could be even better if we just thought a little more.
As a writer: how skillful, how prolific, how consistent. The yearly event of a new Discworld book has been a part of my life for more than two decades, and in that barrage of material there have been so few disappointments, so many surprises… to come out with a book as fresh and inspired as “Monstrous Regiment” as the 31st novel in your big fantasy series? Ludicrous. He was just full of treasure. What a thing to have had, what a thing to have lost.
In the end, he set a higher standard, as a writer and as a person. He got better as he learned, and he kept learning, and there was no “too late” or “too hard” or “I can’t be bothered to do the research.” He just did the work. I think in his memory the best thing we can do is to roll up our sleeves and do the same.

I saw this post on Facebook today, and was gonna make a joke about how he's so good in the lab because, when it comes to experiment samples, he knows you gotta keep 'em separated.
But I happened to search the lyric online really quick, and found this:
AMAZING. It's actually where the line came from! Bravo, sir.

Story about a ragtag space crew who crashland on a new planet and have to pull together to survive. After multiple years, they're able to send out a distress signal and activate emergency systems to get themselves back into space, but something goes wrong and the rescue vessel doesn't arrive. They manage to find a way off-planet and into their own vessel which is still in orbit, right as a major disaster wipes out their camp planetside; as they leave orbit systems on their vessel start to fail, and it becomes clear that these were preinstalled failsafes. They're being sabotaged! What big secret have they uncovered, that The Company is so desperate to bury??
There isn't one. The Company gave them up for dead and only became aware of their survival when their distress systems called fro a rescue vessel. Now they're trying to wipe them out at a distance in a plausibly deniable way before they reach civilisation, because if it becomes known that people survived then they'll be owed almost a decade's worth of back pay as per their employment contracts, and that would reduce shareholder profits this quarter, which is of course unacceptable.

health reporting loves to go "this one weird trick improved all of my stress and health markers!" and the weird trick is like, go kayaking for three months or spend a month at pressure and... yeah. that will help. that's called "taking a sabbatical" and it is very good for you to have a period of rest and play and a change in your environment. I don't think it's about the kayak though

Since Apollo is the god of medicine my personal headcanon about him is that he knows about bacteria but nobody believes him when he tells them about it and the people in Greek mythology that are supposedly great healers like Chiron and Aesculapius just listened to him and washed their hands.

The reason you shouldn't be an asshole to ex-Trump supporters who are genuinely making an effort to change is the same reason why we all felt like shit when our parents went "look who decided to join us!" when we built up the energy to leave our rooms and overall it made us even more reluctant to join family activities.
You don't punish behavior you want to see.
