The Aesthetic of N•K•B (Never Knows Best)

The other day, I was having a discussion about aesthetics with a friend; and the more I thought about the subject, the more I began to think about a project that's near and dear to my heart.

If I had to describe the aesthetic of N•K•B, I would have to say mixed media.

Especially in the artwork.

I use markers for certain things, and then use colored pencils for other things.

Then there's how I draw characters and scenes, take the image down below for example.

Then there's the writing and storytelling.

I take a page from two of my biggest inspirations/influences.

The world of N•K•B is not unlike our own world, however there's moments of the fantastical.

Kind of have to go with this approach since one of the main protagonists is a goth girl with manic magic powers and can use her bass guitar as a bat.

And yet it's just another day in the town of Lakewood.

No matter what kind of crazy shit Max is up to, in the end the kids still go to school and the adults still go to work.

Here's how I think FLCL: Progressive and FLCL: Alternative should've been made

FLCL: Progressive – Set several years after FLCL: Classic in which we see Naota getting ready to graduate high school, just when he thinks he has his life figured out here comes Haruko who is still on her crusade to get Atomsk because Naota was the closest she ever came to him.

FLCL: Alternative – This story goes back several years before the events of FLCL: Classic in which we see the story of how Amarao met Haruko for the first time and how she affected him throughout the years.

And that's how I'd handle Progressive and Alternative, thank you for your time
