Pigs for Pikin
Underdevelopment of rural areas is a well-known and crucial problem in developing countries like Cameroon. Lack of economic means impedes that rural population invests in their productivity and overall quality of life. This, in its turn, fosters the abandonment of rural areas by younger generations who crowd in bigger cities.
One key problem that follows from this situation is that local…

The Credit House
Since 2004 the Credit House has been supporting the agriculture activities through NOWEFOR and NOWEFOCH. At that time, it received funding from the European Union to increase its liquidity. Eight years later it’s still in need of a injection of capital in order to continue the main purpose of its existence. The main obstacles to funding appear to be on the demand rather than the supply side of…

Farm to Market
The purpose of the Farm to Market project is based on the international recognition that “over the coming 35 years, agriculture will face an unprecedented confluence of pressures, including a 30 percent increase in global population, intensifying competition for increasingly scarce land, water and energy resources, and the threat of climate change”[1].

Heart of Cultural Identity
HRH the King of Bambui Angafor Mombo-oh III is an institution recognized by the national government.  However, as a kingdom, Bambui has been targeted by many land disputes, invasions by neighboring villages and intra-tribal wars (which in 2011 led to the assassination of one of the princes).

Following the publication of the book A Short History & Traditions of Bambui 1700-2012, by Barnabas Chungong Bonu, which covers 312 years of history in the village, Fernando Matoso, our project coordinator and photographer was inspired to produce a collection of Photographic Books which will preserve in the memory of present and future generations how was Bambui like in the period from 2012 to 2016.
This collection reveals the social life, natural resources and traditions of Bambui in recent years after the construction of the University of Bamenda in Bambui land. Rapid urbanization, increased literacy, life-style changes, increase of the number of women taking part in the work force and rising per capita income, have led to rapid growth and new opportunities in the food and beverages sector. Bambui farmers should be more directly involved in these activities. At the moment, only a small percentage of farm produce is processed into value-added products…
