SPIDER-WOMAN OC HEADCANONS

her name is Aubrey Johnson, born in Queens but later her family moved to Gotham

she has arachnophobia (fear of spiders)

during a class trip to a genetic laboratory, Aubrey unknowingly wandered into a restricted area where scientists were studying genetically modified spiders

one spider landed on her shoulder, panicked by the sight of the arachnid, she swatted it away, but it bit her in the process, injecting her with its altered venom.

As soon as the venom took effect (later, when she was home) she experienced intense panic attacks

the bite triggered strange changes within her body for example heightened senses, strength, and agility

despite her intense fear of spiders, the powers were undeniable. She tried to avoid using them

over time, she learned to accept her connection to spiders but would never be truly comfortable with them

she realized that she could use her power to her advantage or even help others with it

her spider sense triggers strong emotional reactions, leaving her feeling overwhelmed

after the bite and the unexpected onset of her powers, her family moved to Gotham because of her parents' work.

The shift from Queens to the dark, crime-ridden city only intensified her fears, but her older sister was always there to support her

her older sister, who was studying fashion design, noticed her strange behavior

realizing her little sister had developed superhuman abilities, she became her confidante and source of support

her parents has no idea about her powers, she’s been able to keep them hidden, fearing that they would only make them worry more.

Gotham, with its chaos, crime, and unpredictable nature, put even more pressure on her, the constant danger of the city pushed her to reluctantly embrace her powers

balancing the quiet life of a high school student and a secret hero was no easy for her, she tried to keep her personal life as normal as possible, but there were always signs (ex.: her fast reflexes)

her sister designed her costumes and mask

Aubrey has three costumes:

The original BLUE and RED costume:

The first costume she ever wore was simple but with some personalized adjustments. It was a bright blue and red suit, designed by her older sister to make her feel more confident in her new identity. The suit was simple yet effective, with a web pattern and a spider symbol on her chest. It was her first step into the world of being a hero; awkward at times, but it helped her embrace her powers, even if she didn’t feel completely ready.

The BURGUNDY and BLACK costume:

After her sister's death she felt the need for a darker look that matched her growing understanding of her powers. The colors felt more appropriate for the gritty city, while still holding onto the spirit of her original suit. The combination helped her feel more connected to her role as Spiderwoman, as the darkness of Gotham seeped into her persona.

The BLACK costume:

The black suit gave her a sense of anonymity, which felt comforting as she tried to hide her true identity from Gotham’s criminals. It was the perfect outfit for stealthy missions, and its sleek, minimalist design allowed her to move quickly and blend into the shadows when necessary.

Aubrey doesn't use it often

Her mask is simple, covering only her eyes. It’s a sleek, black design that helps conceal her identity without fully hiding her face.
