I'm an Argentinean Illustrator based in Brussels. Over the years, I worked for French, Belgian and Spanish magazines and newspapers like "El País" and "La Libre Belgique" amongst others. I always wanted to go beyond the mere illustration, seeking inspiration in my taste for the arts, music and literature in order to create a special universe. I like two things in a drawing. Firstly: that one could see and know how much they are inspired on my reading. My drawings are always telling of a situation, always saying something. Secondly: if I had to define the style of my work it would be something like a cross between the Cubist movement and Hanna Barbera and- in a kind of counter point- the Romantics and Pre-Raphaelites. There is, also, a taste of the illustrations from the 30's, 40's, 50's...a certain tendency towards a dynamic and animated geometry.

EL SEGADOR DE LA NOCHE ( The night reaper) by Roberto Pazos 2024

Sega y recoge en la noche,
cuando la luna- ardua y tenaz como un sol-
descubre montes y senderos ocultos por
la fosca y áspera maleza:
el claro
la cifra oscura
y el revés
no tienen secreto: el segador ( gracias a la
niña que brota en su pierna como una probeta)
al fin retoma
del laberíntico sendero
su reto.

The reaper mow and gather in the night,
when the moon - arduous and tenacious like a sun
discover hidden trails by
the dull and rough undergrowth:
the clear
the dark figure
and the reverse
they have no secret: the reaper (thanks to
the girl who springs from her leg like a vial)
finally resumes
of the labyrinthine path
its challenge.

Thelonious is simply a jazz musician who, from the piano, recreates the Universe with the help of his dear Sarah, who gives voice to his world and creativity: There are also the musicians of the band who intervene and modify that world.
And what happens then?
All that coming and going of musical notes and musicians are dropped into a whirlwind of lines and graphics, of crazy staves and inks turned into sounds: A challenge to every reader who likes to look with their ears at the explosive Big Bang of a Great Band!!

Yume, hallucinated, intoxicated, has hallucinations: the steam of an unknown tea ( but who could have poured that potion, but the same diabolical spirit of Tengu, the big-nosed and arrogant demon who, now wrapped in a monkey skin, has fun manipulating the Yume's spirituality ) distorts her gaze, or refines it -it depends- as she is seeing some of her neighbors as curled up and deliquescent ladies...
