I’m so excited to present the full main cast lineup for Rock & Roar 2! Left to right: Sienna, Troy, Emma, Cassie, Jimmy, and Miles. Miles’s design in the sequel will be shared with Patreon subscribers only (link in pinned post!) until the comic’s premier. The supporting cast, which includes Kyle, Noah, Parker, and yes - Miles’s father! - will receive a separate lineup down the line. 🤘🏼🖤💖

Here’s another piece I’ve redone with Sienna’s revised design.

✨Original caption: In the world of Rock & Roar, tail styling is an entire industry! This will be more prevalent in Rock & Roar 2, though we’ll get a version of this beauty salon window advertisement in the next chapter of the current comic. 

Long-haired tails require more maintenance because they get tangles and knots like the hair on one’s head, and they pick up specks of stuff throughout the day that just gets caught in the fur from being out in the world. Sienna loves to always look her best, so she starts off every morning by brushing oils and other products into her fur so that it’s shiny and soft. ✨

Here are a few more updated explorations of Jimmy Skramz! If you live in an area with coyotes, chances are you’ve heard them howling - you might even say you’ve heard them screaming! But no one can scream better than Jimmy - it’s how he earned his nickname “Skramz”, which is another word for screamo, and why he gets hired for Emma’s band to replace the original screaming vocalist, Mason Boaris. He also provides rhythm guitar with his left-handed Les Paul that has been through everything with him, and it shows.

Also pictured here is Jimmy showing off his brick of a phone, which he’s quite proud of, because he’s had it for years and been pretty rough with it, but it’s still going strong. His bandmates have hot and trendy flip phones and may even make remarks about Jimmy’s outdated device, but the joke’s on them, because it’ll end up saving them all in more ways than one!

And lastly, Jimmy eating his most common meals - his favorite sour blue candy, and literal garbage.

Here’s the first set of updated Jimmies! More on the way.

Jimmy Skramz is one of LA’s many streetwise coyotes, but he doesn’t run with the pack - he’d much rather hang out with his vulture friend, Kyle. He will dig his meals out of a dumpster if he has to, but his favorite thing in the world is a blue slushee from the gas station shop, and sour blue candy. In fact, his love of blue raspberry sweets is so big that if you look closely, you’ll see that his teeth are stained green from the dye, and he’s got a silver crown from a root canal. His fur isn’t in a great state either, and he’ll avoid a bath for as long as possible.

But despite all that, Jimmy has a big heart and his loyalty is unmatched within the band. He can be skittish at first, but once you’ve gained his trust you’ve got yourself a friend ‘till the end. Side note - when he yawns, he makes that squeaky whiney noise, like a dog!

I redid Cassie’s sheet with her revised design. Most of the cast will also getting new sheets, so stick around for lots of Rock & Roar 2 art on the way! 🖤

Original caption: Cassie is known for her love of all things scary!👻🕸️She is a big horror movie fan, and is very talented at telling scary stories. Every day is Halloween for her. She is an avid reader as well, and enjoys romance as much as horror novels, especially if vampires are involved! 

On this sheet I’ve also drawn her demonstrating her prehensile tail, which functions like a third hand during her drumming sessions.

Only a few Rock and Roar characters will be returning for the sequel, but early previews will begin to roll out later this year for my Patreon subscribers! The unveiling of these designs will be Patreon-exclusive until the premier of the Rock and Roar 2 comic.

Continuing Rock & Roar character paintings for the lineup: Layla Keys! 🐒 Something I’ve been sharing with my Patreon subscribers recently is the slight redesign of some of the characters whose bodies got a little too human-shaped at some point, but I much prefer the strong silhouettes of animal-shaped characters. It helps the characters look more suitable for CG animation in an all-ages story, which is the ultimate goal. Layla here is rockin’ her new, more monkey-like silhouette and I’m so happy with the change! You’ll notice this affecting some of the Rock & Roar 2 cast in the future (revised Cassie and Sienna are already up on Patreon!).

These two live in a used taco truck they bought for cheap on Craigslist. 🌮

I’ve got a lot more vis dev on the way, all of it inspired by real locations right here in LA! Also included Kyle’s new design (species is now a black vulture) which had only been available to Patreon subscribers!
