you don't have a navigation and links to everything you do, it's kinda confusing

I have a navigation on my side bar. I only opened a couple days ago and so there it’s much for me to put in my links, but this theme allows up to twelve so I can keep adding them as I need them. And I’m surer that I can extend the amount with some simple editing. I really just have putting links that lead to nothing. 

That’s what they look like. I’m not sure what’s confusing about that to be honest.

How long should a plot be?

That depends entirely on the content and kind of group you have. 

Everyone will have different opinions on this, but for a descriptive group I think that between 400 and 600 words is good. If you have anything over that, make sure to put a summary at the end or beginning. Because if someone wants to double check something really quickly, they aren’t going to want to read the entire thing if it’s a very basic piece of information. 

For a group that’s very heavily based off of a TV show or something similar (eg. Pretty Little Liars, The Walking Dead) and you haven’t really added anything to the story line, you could get away with about 100 words, because you don’t want to just relay everything about it and you don’t want to ramble too much. 

I’d be happy to take a look at any bios and advise people on them.

Can we just admit that we all want rp to get back to passionate people creating real connections with each other?

It’s literally been about 9 months since things started to go down hill, from my point of view, and that is 9 months too long.

What is a good amount of apps to have before opening the roleplay?

This can depend on your group.

I always say 10 applications. But if you’re a descriptive group in a niche, this going to take a while. You have to be patient and work at it, because too many people get disheartened and close their groups after a few days or weeks when they aren’t getting as much attention as they thought they would. 

My advice would be to set your number, let’s use 10 as an example, and when you get close, 7-8 applications, set a date. People are more likely to apply if they know exactly when you are opening and will do so closer to your opening date. Don’t get discouraged if your group seems to flatline for the first few weeks or even months. If you love it and have worked hard, you need to continue to do that. 

If you want to speed things up: 

Up your promo outage. Not enough to spam the tags, but 15 posts a day is probably the lowest I would use for an opening group.

Ask RPHs for shoutouts and reviews, not only does this get attention but reviews are very helpful for you. It’s how you know what your future applicants will be seeing and thinking. 

I don’t recommend doing this too much but if you happen to see an indie roleplayer who is looking for a group like yours to join, shoot them a message. Make sure you’re polite and that they know it’s just an offer. If they decline, respect that and leave them alone.

Know your tags! Efficient tagging is vital. You can get a bad name if you use the wrong ones purposely and it isn’t going to get you any closer to opening. 

On the note of tags- know how fast they move. Tags like ‘rp’, ‘rpg, ‘roleplay’ move so quickly, and if you’re using those you need to make sure you’re seen. Smaller tags such as ‘wonderland rpg’ (as an example) are ones you don’t need to post in as much, because they’re very specific. 

Promo graphics are key aswell. This is first thing that people will see. It represents your group, and they have to be attention grabbing.

okay but wtf happened to people loving rping?! what happened to people staying up till 4 am because they were so into their characters and the roleplay and didn’t want to go to bed in fear of missing a single thing? what happened to ships forming naturally instead of being forced and awkward just bc it’s canon? what happened to people staying dedicated to a roleplay instead of ditching the second things get slow? what happened to all the ooc friendships and actually getting to know the muns behind the characters? i feel like the rpc is slowly dying and it seems like even though people are constantly crying out to change things, no one ever does. so why don’t we all stop bitching about there not being any good rps in the tags and actually stick around long enough to make stuff last?! if we keep going at this rate, the rpc is going to die out. if we keep starting shit/joining shit only to quit a few hours or days later then pretty soon there’s not going to be any more roleplays to join. ADMINS: STOP DITCHING YOUR ROLEPLAY AFTER AN HOUR JUST BECAUSE IT DIDN’T IMMEDIATELY GET 20 APPS! ROLEPLAYERS: JOIN ROLEPLAYS YOU ENJOY AND DON’T QUIT JUST BECAUSE THE DASH GETS SLOW FOR TWO SECONDS!
