imo the problem with the "you cannot go back and even if you could you're not that person anymore" thing with jason is that, much like the same mentality behind "jason is the revenge fantasy and he is right in what he does" it still forces you to pick and choose what's worth keeping and what's not. because if you choose to keep everything then both interpretations are correct because both versions of jason are presented in the text, basically issue to issue

from 2005-2011 alone he fluctuated between such heavy extremes that i think trying to extrapolate any sort of consistent story to try to apply to current fandom or canon would just simply not work. this is even further complicated when you try to add his robin years to the mix, especially when you add the additional stories later retconned in by beaty and dixon.

jason's character is so thoroughly inconsistent that basically the only way to get a real character out of him you have to stop at under the hood. and even then i'm not sure i can say i feel the bridge between who he was as robin and who he is as red hood is stable enough to carry a character. i mean we saw in practice how easy it is to interpret his character into vast extremes just from the time between countdown and battle for the cowl lol

i think a lot of people tend to refer to the collins-penned batman #408 as the starting point for post-crisis jason, but it seems the immediately preceding detective comics #574, by mike w. barr, is actually the first issue to refer to jason as a product of crime alley and to build the basis for collins’ subsequent characterization of jason as the kid whose emotional issues bruce hopes to channel into good. it’s a really great issue that draws some wonderful parallels between bruce and jason as well as brings leslie thompkins into the picture. i’ve always felt she and jason should have more of a relationship and i wish this issue was more significantly remembered bc it heralds a gold mine of potential jason plot lines in light of his death and resurrection

so as you all know i'm not particularly a fan of the #416 interpretation of dick being fired and instead advocate for the #408 interpretation (ie "you are a man now, man enough to accept my decision") but i think about the distinctions in bruce's parenting of dick versus jason a lot and esp since there are some intentional references to it in text (look at my next reblog)

It has come to my attention that some people do not know about the genocide in Ghazzah. I don't know how they are not aware of it over the past 20 months, but they express ignorance when you ask them. There is another group where they do know about it - at least from a surface level - but they are not well informed on the harsh conditions families would go through everyday. They don't know that a blockade is in place. They don't know that aid is restricted, and when it does become available, it is sold at exorbitant prices!

Even with the BDS movement, there are those who don't know if they should boycott Microsoft, Coco Cola, or other targeted companies.

So it makes me wonder if these people are choosing to not know. Yes, there is much less attention on Ghazzah. It is about Iran and the settler colony now. This is intentional. Journalists are targeted and murdered. International press is not allowed. But why do we need the news when we have easy access to social media? There are pictures, testimonies, and videos right at our fingertips!

This is why we need to keep talking about Palestine. Keep boycotting, donating, and protesting! Please consider helping my friend, Ruba's, fundraiser! She and her family are in the North.
