✨ Not writing has a price, are you willing to pay?
It's Flash Fiction Friday! That means it's time to write, write, write!
✨ New to FFF? Let us fill you in!
Flash Fiction Friday is a fun writer event that’s meant to inspire, share and connect writings of all genres and writers of all ages. It’s designed to make people want to write, especially if they’re feeling blocked. Everyone and everything is welcome!
We always do our very best to keep the prompt’s genre open, entertaining, positive and encouraging.
Write between 100-1000 words. It can be any genre, in any text format and 18+ is fine by us, just please tag accordingly.
Use this Friday’s theme in your text. Any way you see fit.
Post on your tumblr blog and remember to tag us at @flashfictionfridayofficial!! So we’ll see it, read it and reblog it!!
Deadline is 24 hours after the prompt has been issued (12 pm CET).
And then, next Friday, we’ll mention your work in a showcase post on our main blog before our next prompt drops.
Please post your entries as regular posts, not screenshots — or provide the text as a regular post as well. Let’s keep everything as accessible as possible!
We ask you to tag your works with any appropriate content warnings and let the reader know what they’ll find before they get the chance to read your work!
If you have a question, check out our FAQ page! If your question isn’t on there, don’t hesitate to ask!
You don’t need to ask for permission or need to get added to a list to join in. Just write, have fun and don’t forget to tag us!
We do not condone fiction, asks or comments that glorify: direct hostility, unconstructive critique, LGBTQIA+ hate, slurs, racism and/or general no-no behaviors.
If you want to be closer to the epicenter, you can come chat on our open discord: https://discord.gg/rUWCE8a
✨ We also introduced our very own Wishing Well, a place for you to whisper your prompt suggestions into. And we’ll listen! Check everything about it out HERE.
✨All your amazing works from last week can be found HERE.
✨ And now, the new prompt!

[#FFF308 The Price of Peace ]
How did the peace come about? What was the cost? Were lives sacrificed to prevent the killing of thousands? Someone pushing their emotions deep down to prevent fighting within their family? Is the peace worth the prices that have been paid? Or is the price not paid and so peace doesn't prevail? You write the stories, you create the answers! We want to hear them, we want to read them! Get writing, go go go!!

what's that one thing where they asked how ripely from alien was so realistic and believable as a female character in scifi for once and they were like "well we just took the dude from the original script and made him a girl and changed nothing else. it works bc men and women are the same?" and people were like "woah no way" and then didn't learn anything from that for 20 years

Contrary to popular belief the biggest beginner's roadblock to art isn't even technical skill it's frustration tolerance, especially in the age of social media. It hurts and the frustration is endless but you must build the frustration tolerance equivalent to a roach's capacity to survive a nuclear explosion. That's how you build on the technical skill. Throw that "won't even start because I'm afraid it won't be perfect" shit out the window. Just do it. Just start. Good luck.

I'm Noah Hawthorne, also known as Aelina Isaacs. I write queer stories, and have been publishing books since 2021.
On the second slide you can find all my currently published works, which is the urban fantasy Adventures in Levena series, and the standalone dystopian fiction The Rebel Foxes. On the third slide are my upcoming works. I have a few different works in progress, but right now I'm finishing up The Voice of Wild Places, a queer historical fiction with speculative elements. Mochizuki and Xlato; When A Vampire Falls In Love With A Star, is the third novel in the Adventures in Levena series.
All my stories have threads of found family, fighting oppression, and finding love in all it's vast forms. Mental illness and disability representation are also very important to me, and exist in my stories in one form or another.
I'm a big supporter of small and independent businesses and creatives, and firmly believe community over competition is how we all win. I'm one of the hosts on an indie author podcast called Right Here, Write Queer. I love self publishing, and will always be team human. Team real creativity, and community, and supporting each other.
Every week I try to share book queer recommendations, and I'm more active on Bluesky and Tumblr than anywhere else. I also have a Patreon, where in addition to free posts I also share writing excerpts, resources for authors, and first looks at new art.
A big thank you to @bencalico for my new author photo! I'm so in love with it, she even captured all my pins. Highly recommend her for all your illustration needs, she's fashioned quite a few beautiful pieces for me that I love dearly.
You can find out more about all my stuff, and where else to find me, here.

Aro Books For Pride
Something I've noticed through the years, is that straight and queer people alike often have a tendency to forget about a specific queer identity: aromanticism.
Sometimes it's misunderstood, sometimes it's confused with asexuality, and sometimes it's ignored and/or erased.
This pride month, 23 authors have come together to gather their works and offer them at a discounted price to celebrate aromantic representation from all over the spectrum.
Whether it's to read them during pride month or the rest of the year, by buying this bundle you can get yourself tons of books while also supporting indie authors directly during a time when every little bit of support and community counts more than anything.
Get 23 books for $15, or get all 36 books for $20.
NOTE: this is a bundle that also incudes 18+ content intended for an adult audience.
If this is your first time hearing of the term aromanticism, or if you've heard about it before but are confused about what exactly it is and/or how it differs from asexuality, here's lots of cool resources (and also, my own beginner guide I made some time ago).
