I'm high-key still not fully satisfied with what I've gotten down for Nightmares

So I've created My Girl ♪ , which will probably just be a little collection of not super edited shorts.

Keep in mind these are SHORT shorts.

My friend's got me on the bucky train now (HAHA-) so here we go.

- [ Injuries /•/ My Girl ♪ ] -

James has a bad habit of worrying a little too much at any minor scrape.

He deflects the comments easily.

He's a scholar and a gentleman. He cares, sue him.

But today of all days you had to go and fall off a ladder. Don't ask how, or why, or really anything to do with it. But you fell straight onto the wooden floor.

Of course, Yelena peeped in after hearing the noise and only laughed at you. It totally isn't like she told you damn near a thousand times not to do it.

You rolled your eyes, groaning only slightly quieter than your bones. That's when a voice interrupted the curses one second away from leaving your lips.

" Sweetheart?"

Ah, your favorite beef slab. Fresh never frozen for the better part of ten years or so.

" You alright?"

You jumped as he appeared by your side, grabbing your arms and checking for the slightest chip in a nail.

"...fine, yes-"

Your voice cracked. Bruises were already forming and the pain (that adrenaline had fought off until this point) hit you like a heatwave.

" You clearly aren't. C'mon, kid. Get up, let's go get you checked out."

His grip on your arm didn't loosen.

" I'm perfectly fi-"

" Now."

You listened, joints resembling a rollercoaster buckle clicking as you stood.

Yelena shook her head. She was still giggling to herself, but y'know. Trying to keep up appearances.

Turns out, you've got a broken leg. Well.

Black Widow (the sequel) hadn't stopped whispering I told you so. John, Alexei, and Buck had done their fair share of mocking, lecturing, and telling you it'd get better quickly. Bob...well ... he talked to you in the mornings.

Barnes, however, had gone full "doting mother". Bringing snacks, water, adjusting pillows, ice packs, everything a soccer dad would do seeing his stargirl get hurt in a game.

Well, if the game was a one sided fight between you and the floor.

It wasn't a lot, but you started to appreciate James more as he cared for your issue. Despite his past, he was a huge softie. And that came into play by way of very minor injuries.

I need to get back to depressing shit. All this happiness is draining 🫩

anyways, in light of recent events I've come to remind you all that our voice is our power. Any act of creation is an act of rebellion against fascists and people who live solely to hate.

Karli.

The Flag Smashers.

He could've done something.

He would've.

He swore on his life.

He would've done something.

But that wouldn't bring her back.

That wouldn't erase the memory burned so deep into his eyelids that when sleep finally pulled him in, the vision lingered. Her blood that painted her a martyr stained over and over again.

She was just a kid. Really, just a kid. Trying to do something good for the world.

And they knew she was right, didn't they?

They knew something the entire time. They knew Karli was correct, that every law they planned in advance would hurt more than help. That life was better during the blip, because Earth recovered. Because society, through it all, recovered.

But they sent Walker. And he didn't back off when told. And that's why Karli was dead. That's why Lemar was dead. If he would've listened they'd still be alive.

It was his fault.

Sam told himself that over and over.

But it didn't stop the regret. The guilt. The bloodstained title of Captain America. The broken hearts and promises. The lies.

The knowledge that one thing done different could've changed everything.

If they moved faster, hid the trail better.

If they'd just done a little more, it wouldn't have ended like that. If they had tried a little harder, it could've changed the world.

Could've saved a life.

Two.

Three.

Four.

Four hundred.

More than that.

And Sam knew damn well it wasn't his fault.

The world knew it wasn't.

But it didn't change a thing.

And it would never stop the nightmares.

I am in fact a John Walker disliker.

Doesn't mean he's gonna be safe from my writing though!!! (wink wink nudge nudge)

But honestly, Sam's chapter is first because it's my personal favorite. In my opinion everything he goes through (and didn't sign up for btw) is overlooked a lot.

Also if I can make the five other Sam Wilson fans cry then my job is done.

She's super into music. Anything is fire to her. Except for certain people. She's caught up on every controversy and knows each artist she listens to in and out.

She's a huge Paramore girl. She also has every poster and piece of merch displayed (much to the annoyance of everyone else). She forced the team into YouTube Music and hated Spotify with a BURNING passion. She managed to hack the system and get free YouTube premium and would do it again in a heartbeat.

He likes the "classics" and whatnot, but modern music has started to grow on him. Ever since Yelena got him into pop music, he's walked way over ten thousand steps daily to find new record stores around town.

He's a huge fan of Taylor Swift [gasp, I said it] and a lot of indie music. He's got record players EVERYWHERE.

His top three artists are;

Laufey - 4 hours

Taylor Swift - 3 hours

Conan Gray - 1 hour

Bob

He can't listen to music that isn't mindless glitter pop. Songs that deal with heavy topics (drug use, abuse, etc) open old wounds that don't heal well.

Out of the few songs he can listen to without self-reflecting harder than a room of mirrors, his favorite is Super Bass by Nicki Minaj.

He listens to whatever people play around him. He doesn't have his own account.
